When thinking of this verse I remember telling the story of a little boy. You see these scientists were hunting for a flower that is so rare it only grew in a certain area of the world.

Searching high and low for this rare flower, day after day no luck. Finally one day they go to the edge of the gorge and on the other side of the gorge on a cliff straight down about twenty feet they found it looking through their binoculars.

Excited the two men walked around the steep gorge and finally stood directly above it. Looking down was quite intimidating because the wall was straight down hundreds of feet, yet this flower lay only twenty feet from the top.

While contemplating how to get to this rare scientific treasure, a local boy comes walking by. The two men engaged the boy in conversation, and then asked him if they would pay him, would he let them tie a rope around him and lower him down that steep cliff, pick the flower and then they would pull him back up.

The boy looked at them, looked at the steep wall he would have to be lowered against, looked at the two men again, and finally he said, "I'll be right back".

About fifteen minutes later the child returns with an adult man. The boy tells the two scientists..."I will tie a rope around my waist and be lowered below to get your flower, but I want this man to hold the rope, he's my Father".

That child wasn't about to trust just anyone to hold that rope; he wanted someone he could trust, someone who loved him.

Bring that home to our Father in heaven. Even as a parent, if I held that rope for my kid, I hate to say it but I could become tired at some point and God forbid I could let go of that rope, because I am not strong enough to hold on forever.

Folks, trust in the Lord, if you depend on man or mankind they will fail you. God loves us so much, and is strong enough to hold on to us forever. Thank God for our creator. In Jesus name.
