Yes, it makes you want to double check what goes past your mouth! mad.gif

You know, all these genetic manipulations, and this going on about CLONING... we are always going back to square one... "as in the days of Noah", when ALL FLESH, except the animals God sent to the Ark and Noah's family, were CORRUPTED... sad.gif

When viewing the French video about "mais transgeniques", the guy who was appointed to check them to see whether or not they were dangerous ended up studdering, and admitting that within 10-20 years one could see the difference if one were to eat this type of food. I KNEW that he wanted to say "within 2-3 years, but that he was SCARED to say so, therefore he gave an additional 7 to 13 years... You knew HE KNEW that these were dangerous!

He was scared! ph34r.gif

It sooo scares me that my grandchildren will probably grow up on this kind of genetically altered foods....plus the genetic altered foods are contaminating other fields with drift of pollen, etc.

Thanks for posting that video...its a long one, but so worth watching...I learned alot!! Thank You! 1dsz5h3.gif

Did y'all know that when corn was first discovered to be edible that an ear was about 2.5 inches long? It has been manipulated for over a thousand years now. My last job had me verifying that the corn brought into our plant was 'starlink' negative. Starlink was engineered by a company based in France. StarLink is a variety of genetically-engineered corn developed by Aventis Corp. to include two new traits, each coded by a different gene: 1) "Bt" based resistance to Lepidopteran caterpillar pests, such as the European Corn Borer, and 2) tolerance to glufosinate herbicides, such as Basta™, Liberty™, etc. StarLink is unlike other "Bt corn" varieties because it produces a modified version of the Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt) toxin protein, known as "Cry9C," an Aventis proprietary technology.

It was not approved for food-use by humans because the protein that it produces can be seen by the human body as an allergen, like peanuts in some people. This alteration simply allows the corn to repel insects by the production of certain proteins that bugs don't like. There are many types of GE corn and other foods that are in use by this relatively simple manipulation. This first started eons ago when farmers realised that certain ears of corn showed no insect infestation in group of otherwise infested ears. Only the seed from the uninfested corn was used to plant the nest crop, and voi'la, the birth of genetic engineering!

Some GE is good, some is bad; it depends what it is. Don't think badly of all GE food products just because it's GE. Some are good for us, some not. What is for sure is that we are able to feed millions more because of it. We just have to be careful in it's testing before releasing it to the public.

I could go on and on in this topic, but guys, you REALLY, REALLY don't want to eat that stuff. There is a reason other countries are banning it.

It was killing just insects...now it is killing animals and creating problems in humans. I don't know how you can get around eating it if you don't know where your food originates....but it is worth the knowing.

Well, I took Horticulture for 4 yrs. Hybridization is much different than the gene modifications they are doing. Like you point out that corn was much smaller way back and that is true. There are number of ways that making bigger ears of corn can result--- you can do it by polyploiding plants or by crossbreeding varieties of the same kind. Notice producing with the same kind is all in the realm of Genesis that all seed bearing plants produce after itheir own kind --that is in the order of nature God intended.

This is far different then taking a fish gene and sticking it in a tomato. If God wanted a fish gene in tomatoes He would have put it there in the first place. This kind of GM is a corruption against the order of creation that God ordained from the beginning. Like Senti said--- the days of Noah. It makes me sick---

and all I can say is Come Lord Jesus!

I agree its wrong. God said each seed will produce after its own kind. Now we are getting seeds that will not produce plants with seeds, so people (lots here in Africa) are starving because they have to keep on buying new seeds and cannot use those that their crops produce.
Its evil and it breaks your heart.

No wonder famine will be widespread (and is now) ! This looks like an attempt to monopolize food! If a food is genetically modified so new plants can't grow from the seeds it produces, thus forcing people to go buy more seed, which of course, goes up, that is monopolizing food sources so that in the future "No one, slave nor free, can buy or sell, unless he has the mark". I bet those people in the big corporations don't care about the starvation they are creating while they sit back in the million dollar yachts sipping down the profits that would've kept many nations from growing hungry, I bet a Big Pharma buddy is sipping drinks on the same boat! Humpf! God repays! He is the advocate of the poor and look out evil doers when the cry of the oppressed reaches His ears! Ears of corn will be the least of your worries!

Hey guys, don't take what I said earlier as taking up for ALL GE. I don't! Just some. I agree that we should not be taking another species' genes and inserting them into the target species'. With all my heart! Within a species, I say go for it. That's not trying to change what it inherently is.

I didn't know about the crops in Africa not being able to produce seed. That is evil and wrong. They're probably the results of cross-species GE if they can't reproduce. Like mules.

I didn't know this either... I also read that Africa has poor soil as well, too. Where they get the seed from like is it GM or because of poor soil? Its really horrible either way. sad.gif Maybe grafting could work on some of these plants? You know like apples? or even cuttings perhaps since only certain families are able to graft.---
Potatoes and Tomatoes can be grafted on the same plant. Watermelons, cucumbers, eggplants are also grafted too.
