A New Foundation
While in a recent prayer meeting, through the eyes of the spirit I saw what appeared to be a serene set of rolling hills typical of northern Virginia.
As I viewed the peaceful green meadows, forrest lands and somewhat developed land with its picturesque homesteads and farms, my mind began to think of the governments of the Washington DC areas- federal, state & local governments along with the social systems that accompany them.
As I began to think about the mixture of influences on which our social institutions were founded, I began to notice the foundation on which the land was situated. I could see the surface as before, but also could now see the unique surface features of the geography, as well as the underground geological formations that shaped the surface. I could see the layers of strata that formed the bedrock on which the land with all its natural and manmade beauty stood.
As I looked at the layers that made up the bedrock, I noticed that some layers were of hard stone, and others of a softer clay like rock, and some layers seemed to be made of clay and stone mixed. I began to realize that my thoughts weren't wandering as I had supposed, but that God was directing them while showing me a picture of what He was saying.
The bedrock was the foundation of our American and local society, with the layers of rock being the Judeo-Christian biblical principles upon which much of our laws and social systems are based. The layers of clay, though pleasing to the eye, were those non biblical influences that are dispersed throughout the foundation, but are inherently weak and flawed. They consisted of the pride of man and his achievements, Freemasonry, liberal intellectual thinking, influences of other religions, and the like. They caused flaws in the geology beneath, but the resulting unique surface features were celebrated.
As I watched the landscape, it began to crack and break up. Some parts of it crumbled and fell away, and some parts seemed to remain rather intact, though they were shaken as well. It became apparent that the reason for the shifting of the landscape was that the bedrock on which it stood was being pushed up from beneath. As the cracks and fissures widened, new bedrock could be seen forming under the old. The new bedrock was strong and uniform, devoid of defects and with no visible layers. It was not completely flat, but had some gently sloping high and low places.
I began to understand that this bedrock was both ancient and new. It had been growing for centuries, even for millenias, but was growing ever faster. And as it grew faster, it put such pressure on the layered rock above that it was breaking apart.
This new layer of bedrock is a new foundation forming, the foundation of God's Kingdom on earth. It is composed entirely of spirit. None of the works of the flesh of man contribute, only that which is spirit. The old foundation has clear and distinct features left by those who built it, as tribute to themselves. The new foundation is different. It is built by the pure and selfless acts and prayers of the saints. The Spirit led acts and prayers of all of the saints - great and small, known and unknown - are the substance of this new foundation. That which began with our spiritual ancestors continues with this present generation. Their acts of faithfulness and obedience to God along with their true worship and Holy Spirit led prayers began the new foundation upon which we still build. Acts of compassion and kindness, faithful obedience as a mother, father, factory worker, business owner, housewife or even in times past a bondservant or slave, have all served to build this new foundation.
Saints, we must continue to pray to and worship our God 'In Spirit and In Truth', to obediently walk the path He has laid out before us with all diligence and faithfulness, to bring to fulfillment the answer to the prayer that our Lord instructed us to pray, "Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven". Through our steadfast and humble obedience, God builds His kingdom. "For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen"
Be blessed in the matchless name of our Lord and Savior Jesus,
