LEAVE ROOM FOR GOD

"But when it pleased God. . ." Galatians 1:15

As workers for God we have to learn to make room for God - to give God "elbow room." We calculate and estimate, and say that this and that will happen, and we forget to make room for God to come in as He chooses. Would we be surprised if God came into our meeting or into our preaching in a way we had never looked for Him to come? Do not look for God to come in any particular way, but look for Him. That is the way to make room for Him. Expect Him to come, but do not expect Him only in a certain way. However much we may know God, the great lesson to learn is that at any minute He may break in. We are apt to over look this element of surprise, yet God never works in any other way. All of a sudden God meets the life - "When it was the good pleasure of God. . ."

Keep your life so constant in its contact with God that His surprising power may break out on the right hand and on the left. Always be in a state of expectancy, and see that you leave room for God to come in as He likes.

One tv show that I have gotten interested in is Grey's Anatomy, mostly because I am about to graduate college and nursing school is something I have been contemplating. I know there's a lot of anti-Christian drama in it like any tv show, but I am always touched when these shows actually illustrate something meaningful. This is a quote from the end of this week's episode that reminded me of the above:

"We all think we’re going to be great and we feel a little bit robbed when our expectations aren’t met. But sometimes our expectations sell us short. Sometimes the expected simply pales in comparison to the unexpected. You got to wonder why we cling to our expectations, because the expected is just what keeps us steady. Standing. Still. The expected's just the beginning, the unexpected is what changes our lives."

Right on girl. You heard a word from the Lord and he confirmed it! Expect the unexpected!!

(1 Jn.4:1) Beloved, believe not every spirit, but prove the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets are gone out into the world.
Notice that God speaks of discerning the spirits, plural, in men.
(2) Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God:

Please note that the original says "is come" and not "has come" in the flesh.
That is the first way the Bible tells us that Jesus is coming back....IN His body of believers.

This is rather important, because the translators could not understand the "is come", they put in "has come". Huge difference hey!

What does the Word tell us about those who do not believe this? (3) and every spirit that confesseth not Jesus is not of God: and this is the spirit of the antichrist, where of ye have heard that it cometh; and now it is in the world already.
(Already)

So we do not have to wonder "how" He will come, for He tells us how.
