How does he figure that 9/11 is a major end time event. I haven't seen it mentioned in the Bible. Is this another bible code thing?

In a way... He has found out that each and every world event is coded, and that there are more codes in relationship between two or more events. It's all about THE TIME FACTOR! (Just as the Rapture is!)
Like, you know, the Bible codes prepared us for (in a way)! These codes are not to be found in the Bible by themselves, but you do have numbers like 2,520, 1,260, 666, 144... that pertain to major world events!
Which is another proof (to the unbeliever, the atheist, and the member of another religion) that there is only one God.

The first thing I noticed when I wrote this book is that it is essentially for the non-believer.

I can't say I am much of a fan of Bible Codes. Nevertheless I pray for your friend to do well in the interview and that God may be glorified.

Matt 24 shows that the "end is not yet" until the preaching of the gospel is finished and the abomination of desolation stands in the Holy Place.

One thing to be very mindful of is that the NIV will give you an entirely different notion than the KJV. The NIV translators do a lot of interpretation for the reader that the KJV translators would not dare to do.

So whereas the KJV says in "Dan 11:31 And arms shall stand on his part, and they shall pollute the sanctuary of strength, and shall take away the daily sacrifice, and they shall place the abomination that maketh desolate."
The NIV says "Dan 11:31 His armed forces will rise up to descrate the temple fortress and will abolish the dialy sacrifice. The the will set up the abomination which causes desolation"

So the NIV is heavily biased towards the rebuilding of the temple in Jerusalem, whereas the KJV allows for other interpretions. So whilst I believe the temple will be rebuilt, the daily sacrifice reinstituted and the temple desecrated I am prepared to consider other options which will still fit with the KJV.
Matt 24:15 also causes me to consider other options It says "When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)"
To me the "(whoso readeth, let him understand:)" parenthesis is a prompt to say hang on guys its not what you immediately might think, you need to be discerning, watchful and alert. I would not at all be suprised if the rebuilding of the temple is a smokescreen to trap the unwary. So I agree with you that the abomination of desolation will not be quite what we think.

The other interesting difference between is
in 9:27 where the KJV says "Dan 9:27 and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate"
whereas the NIV says "Dan 9:27 And on a wing of the temple he will set up an abomination that causes desolation"

Actually they are quite different. In fact the NIV introduces a contradiction with Matt 24:15. The passage in Matthew describes the abomination as being in the Holy Place whereas the NIV in Dan 9 places it off in a wing of the temple.

Also the KJV describes an overspreading of abomination which makes IT desolate. What is IT? Some Holy object which has something abominable placed over it or draped over it actually in the holy place of the sanctuary. All of those details will be missed by those students of the Bible who use the NIV.

I have various theories about what the holy object is and what the abominable thing over it is which I will not mention for now as they fit into the same category as "who is the antichrist" "what is the mark of the beast". "what is babylon" I believe that these are all things which we cannot know yet because the world events are not sufficiently shaped. But when the time comes these descriptions will come into focus with exact clarity for those who have been preparing and making ready. Those who have been slumbering and sleeping or are deceived by false teaching will go off on the wrong tangent and will not discern or understand the significance of the events.

Therefore it is essential that we study our Bibles and pray constantly that God will guard us from all deception. I do not expect these things to cause a great divide in Christianity. Rather I expect the tide of Christianity in the great falling away and apostasy of end times to go along with the antichrist and be caught in his snare. Without even knowing what they are doing they will take his mark, worship his image, delight in the abominable thing, and ultimately share in his destruction. The remnant who are watching and are alert will not fall for the trap and will not be sucked into the beast system.

speaking of numbers, there are some really strange patterns in base 10. For instance, the number 8, biblically speaking, has to do with "new beginnings" or a completed cycle. (7 days in a week, 7 notes in an octave, 7 colors in a light spectrum, etc.)

I am one who "believes" that the end of this dispensation shall occur by 2018 ...this being 70 years from 1948 "a generation".......................
I can NOT imagine how much longer it can go on, the "technology based systems of control" are going to be phenominal in power by 2011 with computers,cameras,RFID Chips,and so on...................................

The generations keep extending. I thought that a generation was 30 years. Then in 1978 when nothing happened Hal Lindsey told us a generation was 40 years. Hal Lindsey was so badly wrong it is a wonder he is not shamed and run out of the church as a false prophet. And yet he continues to teach and publish unsuspecting sheeples. Now here is the latest. A 70 year generation. Come on Hosea surely you mean 60 years. At least by 2008 we might have remembered your dubious prophecy, but in 2018 noone will remember your prognostication.

I also think we should not be too adamant that the mark will be a biometric implant. In one place in the KJV it says that the mark can be UPON the forehead. Revelation 20:4 which leads me to believe that it will be quite visible and obvious that someone has the mark.
It also describes that the mark can be in the forehead and in the hand, however i do not think that this necessarily means that it is an internal device. If it is internal how will it be possible to perceive its number. I never hear this discussed in any of the prophecy blurbs. Do they think that when the biochip gets scanned that a readout of the number comes up on a screen?

Let's look at the passage in Rev which describes the mark of the beast
Rev 13:16 And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive [5] a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: 17 And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.

Now this is a little ambiguos but remember that the passage is discussing the mark. So therefore it seems to me to clearly indicate that the beast can be identified with a symbol, a name and a number. So provided you display the symbol of the beast, the name of the beast, or the number of the beast upon your forehead or hand you will be permitted to buy and sell. I imagine that there will be a number of fashionable and stylish designs for these motifs for people to choose from to show that they are part of the antichrists society.

Also it appears that this will be a worldwide mark. Its hard to imagine a world where even the impoverished third world can afford biometric implant devices. Devices to perform the implant. Devices to read the implant and computers to control the transactions. I doubt it. I foresee a huge disruption in the worlds economy caused by a huge increase in natural disasters, economic collapse, wars, civil unrest etc. I foresee a world descending into anarchy with a breakdown of social structure, infrastructure, technology, transport all in disarray. I foresee the antichrist rising as a powerful world leader who can repair the problems of the world and bring order out of chaos making himself out to be a saviour of the world. In such a chaotic world with an all powerful dictator the mark would need to be something as simple as the number of the antichrists name or the name itself tattooed on the forehead or on the hand.

Of course I am definately not saying that my forsight is any more than my intellectual conjecture. I said once before that I never interpret the Bible I simply report it and teach what it says. In this case I am not telling you what will happen, I am simply pointing out some problems with the conventional biochip viewpoint and alerting you to other possibilities. Nevertheless I certainly will not be submitting to any biochip implants even if I cannot detect any number of the beasts name upon them.

Also I was always tought that "a Generation" could be "40,70,& 120 years" as these are the examples of such found in the Bible.

So one would think the 70 would fit because nobody lives to 120 anymore.
