Just a cut and paste from an e mail from my sister...please pray for Frank..He is 60 and has advanced arthritic condition dealt with for years..needs knee replacement surgery and has recently been diagnosed with kidney problems as a side effect of a med he has taken for years...
Good Morning, well I think we all must have fallen off the planet. I have been out of the loop except for work and heading up to see Frank. Hope all is well out your way. Today really is like Ebenezer would say, "conducting business affairs in the teeth of inclement weather." Really it would have been good to take a vacation day today but I may need to reserve some time for a little later on.
Frank has been lodging in the Royal Alex. Since he had his MRI yesterday, we are hoping that he will soon have some findings and a course of action will be taken and he can be released. They now think it is bleeding from the kidney itself. Since he has been there he has had 4 transfusions and they definitely made a difference in his energy. He had been taking an anti-inflammatory for (nearly 40) years, the drug Phenylbutazone. I have recently done some internet searches and truly that stuff equals "nasty sauce." He has continued on it as it did work as an anti inflmmatory very well but boy that stuff sure has a lot of other side effects. It is stressed that it is for short term use only. A friend here, said he did a search on it and discovered that it is now mostly used by vets. So the search will be on for something more compatible with people. Regarding the knee surgery, it will be moved over to February or March. He has a "case manager" for that endeavour and we are pleased that she noticed his low state from the blood work and blew the whistle on him right away.
Bet you are enjoying your new computer. I think Kerry is going to be glad to have the little IBM as her room mate's computer is now not an option. It went kaput.
Keep warm Mom, Roger, Tweety....
Love, Leila
