I just got a book for a 15 year old to read and it is great.
The name of it is Every Young Man's Battle. It is about the real world of sexual temptation and how it effects lives today. It talks about how this young man battled with porn. If you know of any one that is having a problem in this area please get and read it first for yourself. It is a Christain perspective on images we are exposed to every day.

Two books that I have appreciated are both novels, but tell a lot about the truth and ways of demons. They also show in human terms, the present spiritual warfare, Eph. 6:12
"This Present Darkness" and "Piercing the Darkness" by Frank E. Peretti; Crossway Books, Westchester, Illinois. A division of Good News Publishers.

Do tell? What is "This Present Darkness" about?
I started reading a book several years ago and it was a novel also. It was about demons and how they would even follow Christains to Church in hopes they could find a way to enter into that person. It also talk about the warfare that goes on.

I never got to finish the book and could not remember the name so I could get it and read it again.

Marshall Hogan, the new editor of the Ashton Clarion, is one of the main characters. There is a Sally, who everyone thinks is dead, that runs through the background! It is really good, exciting reading and backdoor teaching!
I have read them both once and am reading them again. I just happened to find both of mine at Goodwill. The Lord does provide. I gave the information so that perhaps a used book dealer could track them. Any book dealer could tell you if they are still being printed. The copies that I have are copyright 1986.

This is such a good thread!!! 1dsz5h3.gif I hope that others jump in with their suggestions!
I also am going to keep watch for those that have been suggested. That "Ezekiel Prophecy" should be good!
I read the "Screwtape Letters" a long time ago, and I laughed my way through it! A good book! "That Hideous Strength" also sounds good.

Mind Siege from David Noebel tells about how much our society has become secular. We are attacked everywhere; I remember reading that the name "Easter" had been changed into "Spring Brake" and "Christmas" into "The Holidays... mad.gif

I read it when I was unsaved and boy this gave me to think! cool.gif laugh.gif

""That Hideous Strength" It is basically an adult fiction novel on the rise of the New World Order. The book basically ties in how "aliens" )(ie fallen angels)are working behind the scenes to enact it with a hidden government. What is interesting is that CS Lewis wrote this book in 1940. There was a previous book that was before it which I did not read. I am not sure I would fully recommend it because it is very bizarre(like the resurrection of Merlin) and contains some perhaps Cabalistic elements to it.

Received the Maker's Diet for Christmas...have just started reading it....heard it was very good.
Has daily devotionals in it as well.
God's Lamb
I've read "This Present Darkness" by Frank E. Peretti and met him while he was working on his second book "Piercing The Darkness". A friend of mine Lauren Stratford who wrote "Satan's Underground" had come to the Northwest to our local semminar on spiritual warefare. We had become friends and I attended a law enforcement semminar in Idaho with a friend and we got to visit with Lauren for a week together there at the Seminar. I met several other authors as well....as well as fellow researchers. I have a friend who is writing a book about Lauren and the people who lied about her....she was for real and what happened to her was real.

Laruen had told Fank about me and he had called, and we kept missing each other and finnally met. I gave him some information that he used on his second book, I was doing a lot of research then. Frank lived on Vashon Island in Washington.....don't know if he still lives here any more.....I've been out of contact for such a long time. He's a very nice man and his wife is very pretty, sweet and kind. Frank is so funny.....he had us all laughing.

Back to the books.....The Next World War by Grant R. Jeffrey......The Bait of Satan by John Bevere......A To of Departing by Ray Yungen....Deceived On Purpose by Warren Smith and......America Alone by Mark Steyn......The Beast on the East River by Nathan Tabor.....Because They Hate by Brigitte Gabriel.....Unholy Alliance by David Horowitz....to name a few biggrin.gif

DaysofNoah.....I think we have the same library... biggrin.gif

Experiencing the Depths of Jesus Christ, by Jeanne Guyon

Outside of the Bible, it is the best book I have ever read on the faith. I still read it again and again, always something new to be revealed that can be practically used.

Blessings,

THE BIBLE OF COURSE IS A MUST READ.
I also really enjoyed At Home in Mitford By Jan Karen.(It is a series)These books are about a small town Priest and his colorful parisherners>Great characters and lots of scripture refrences throughout.
And the Shofar Blew by Francine Rivers. A modern story about the trials of being a pastors wife.
A Candle in the Darkness written by Lynn Austin (a series)A Christian's northerners' view, southerners 'view and slaves' view of life before, during and after the Civil war. Fascinating and heartwarming.
Last (my husband laughs at these 2 choices) but I love the Laura Ingles Wilder series Of The Little House on the Prarie Fame,Beginning with Caoline's life,Laura's mother , and ending with Laura's daughter Rose's life.
Finally Ellie By Mary Borntrager.A very good novel series about Amish Life.
These are just a few. I love to read and enjoy reading book reviews from other Christians.I hope others will share more of their favorites. smile.gif

I have one more book to add that I just began reading the other day. It is a novel about a small town in Alabama that is isolated from the rest of the country because of a massive power outage. Nothing mechanical works,Not cars, radios ,tv's,generators, water pumps nothing. No one has a clue why this is happening. The towns people were caught unprepared and low on supplies. There has been a murder robbery.
The story focuses on one family and thier dependance on God and each other to survive. It is entitled Last Light byTerri Blackstock. It has a sequel.
I highly recommend it. Prayerfully this will not happen to any of us ,however I have gotten some good ideas from the situations contained in this book.Very good food for thought.
