Mom told me a strange dream this weekend, and I forgot about it till now. She dreamed she was looking at a very old dusty casket ( from maybe the 1890's? early 1900s?) and it opened slightly. Black, smooth tentacles emerged from it, reaching for her. At the end of each tentacle, was bright green, bowl shaped huge sucker. One of the tentacles attached to her ankle. She kicked it off of her. She stumbled and fell on her back. When looked up, she saw a man in naval uniform standing over her. She said even today, she can remember every detail of his face. He is not anyone we know, nor anybody famous. He and hunderds upon hunderds of sailors were standing on 2 huge, wide, sweeping staircases singing, "We who are in peril on the sea"... here are the lyrics....she cannot get the song out of her head...
Eternal Father, Strong to Save
Eternal Father, strong to save, Whose arm hath bound the restless wave,
Who bidd’st the mighty ocean deep, Its own appointed limits keep,
Oh hear us when we cry to thee, For those in peril on the sea!
Lord, guard and guide the men who fly, Through the great spaces in the sky.
Be with them always in the air, In darkening storms or sunlight fair.
Oh hear us when we lift our prayer, For those in peril in the air!
Eternal Father, grant, we pray, To all Marines, both night and day,
The courage, honor, strength, and skill, Their land to serve, thy law fulfill;
Be thou the shield forevermore, From every peril to the Corps.
Lord God, our power evermore, Whose arm doth reach the ocean floor,
Dive with our men beneath the sea; Traverse the depths protectively.
O hear us when we pray, and keep, Them safe from peril in the deep.

Something interesting I found out just last night on the history of the hymn. Back in the early 20th century a minister on board a supposedly unsinkable ship had a bad feeling. The hymn number came to mind and it was this very hymn Mom had in her dream...the ship he was on was TITANTIC
