Full Version: A Worthless Vessel

Lately I've been praying that God could use me as his servant. I always thought it impossible because I have made too many mistakes in my life and sinned too many times. Then he showed me how it is possible.

My Lord found me, discarded, laying in the mud, covered in filth. My Lord Jesus, lifted me up and examined me, he said, "You appear to be a worthless vessel, but I can see past the dirt and at the heart is good metal, I can use you". So he took me and washed me clean. Then he pulled out a hammer and began to strike me ferociously, painful blow after painful blow, till every dent was gone and I regained the original shape, my creator had given me. I thought he was done, but then he began to buffet me with rough paper and then finally polish, till I shone like brand new. Then he said, "Now I can use you, but I don't expect you to stay clean, only an unused vessel stays clean. When you become stained, I'll be there to clean you, so I can use you again and again".

Don you are so precious! The Lord has used you repeatedly over the past year to minister to me. You are a lovely picture of a Humble Servant of the Lord! What a beautiful description you have given for us. Oh that we would only realize that He desire to makes us new! I have been studying in Jeremiah and am reminded of this passage as I read your post.

Jeremiah 18:3-5

3Then I went down to the potter's house, and, behold, he wrought a work on the wheels. 4And the vessel that he made of clay was marred in the hand of the potter: so he made it again another vessel, as seemed good to the potter to make it.

Yes I like was wretched and filthy Marred in the hands of the potter! But praise be to the Father that He has chosen to re-make me! How can I show Him my gratitude but give my life for His cause. For He alone is worthy of All MY PRAISE!

Romans 8:28-29 Says:

28And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

29For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.

We can be assured in our walks that no matter how tough the roads seems to get that all things work together for good. That as vs 29 says that these things are happening for a purpose and that very purpose is for us to be conformed to His image! Oh Father that I might be molded in your image! Re-make me Father to Look just like you!

Proverbs 25:4
Take away the dross from the silver, and there shall come forth a vessel for the finer.

Father take away the dross so that when you are finished that you might see a reflection of Yourself in me!
Don thank you for this post it lead me to a beautiful time of worship and brokeness before my Lord.

I love you!
Thank you for who you are in Christ,
Val
