I did a search for an explanation of pentecost - yeah - dumb old me didn't know what it was

One of the results said.
"The commemoration of the coming of the Holy Spirit upon the disciples of Jesus following his ascension, Pentecost is considered the "birthday" of the Christian church. (Acts 2:1-11) It comes 50 days after Easter (Pascha, Orthodox Easter). Roman Catholic and Protestant Christians observe Pentecost on a different date than Orthodox Christians."

What is an orthodox christian?? I have a vague idea - but would take too long to explain what I think it is......is there a short version?

Orthodox Christian refers to the Greek Church... interesting that you bring this up because I noticed that Protestants tend to know very little about there history and such. I had a dream about the Greek Orthodox Church this year which lead me to research them more.

I find the subject of the Eastern Church very interesting. I have very mixed fellings about the Eastern Church. For whatever reason, it appears that the Holy Spirit is leading me into this arena. The Eastern Church is considered catholic, albeit not Roman Catholic. It is the faction that was nearly wiped out by Islam. They were the Christians that the Crusaders sought to rescue, even if it did turn out to be disasterous. In fact, the Greek Orthodox Church granted huge amounts of property to the early settlers of what we know as the state of Israel today. I learned this when I began my investigations into the Palestinian situation. Arab propaganda accuses the Israelis of stealing property (which is a blatant lie). The farther back into history that I went the more I realized why things are the way they are today. I began to understand what was going on in Bosnia 10 years (or so) ago.

I came to call the Christians in Eastern Europe Christianity's pitbulls. If not for these Christians all of Europe would be facing east on prayer rugs. Life for the Eastern Church was a life and death struggle with Islam for centuries. A few signatures at the U.N. was not going to change these people over night. Their mistrust of their Islamic neighbors was well founded and centuries deep. The media chose to ignore the history and highlite what looked like mindless hatred by Christians. I, myself, was very embarrassed by their behavior at the time. That is until I began to look into the past.

As of late, though, I am getting some bad ideas about the Russian Orthodox church. Their are some people out there sowing some seeds in regard to how the Russian government may be infilterating the church in order to get into Africa. I don't like to embrace these ideas. I find it very disturbing and don't quite know what to think. I fully understand how Satan works to sow discord among Christians. Yet somehow, I put nothing past Putin.

Any ideas?

Why are there so many denominations within Christianity?

Historically, each and every church becomes more and more liberal ... never the other way.

As they become more liberal, the conservative believers within that church (or denomination) break away and form another.

I think it may be God's way of keeping a remnant doctrinally pure.

I think it's a sign of the last days why there are so many church splits:
1Tim 4:1
Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;

Well, the satanic purpose is to divide and conquer, for a house divided cannot stand. The Divine Purpose is embodied in Christ Who came to divide and separate the sheep from the goats so that His Remnant may endure with Purity and undefilement.
