The prophecy of the destruction of Tyre seems close to the prophecy of the destruction of Babylon. Compare
Ezekiel Chapter 29 verses 27-36 and Revelation Chapter 18 verses 11-18. The major difference that seems to be the case is that Tyre goes under the sea and Babylon is destroyed by fire.

29 All the rowers and sailors of the sea will leave their ships. They will stand on the land 30 and cry in a loud voice of sorrow over you. They will throw dust on their heads and roll in ashes. 31 They will cut off their hair because of you, and dress themselves in cloth made from hair. The prophecy againist Tyre could also be a prophecy againist Babylon and the Beast ( the Beast represents a group of nations led by the anti-christ who thinks himself a god just like the king of tyre) ?

I saw part of a show on the History Channel last night about how Tyre was attacked by the 'mole' and finally brought down after many many attempts.
I'd also been thinking the other day about how God has seperated the USA by water from the rest of advanced civilization for a reason. Protection. But it seems there is coming a day when the mole will surface in a new way... and in season. X

Something else occured to me while reading your post, Miki. The destruction of Tyre going under the water...isn't that like the destruction from the Flood in the time of Noah? And since the story of the king of Tyre is made like the story of the fall of Adam and his casting out of the Garden of Eden its like the story of Noah, too with Ezekiel being a kind of Noah. The Bible tells the end will be like the days of Noah. In the prophecy againist Tyre is the whole story from creation of Man, to the Fall of Man, the Rebellion of Man, the Flood, and also the destruction of Babylon and the Beast, like the whole story condensed and illustrated by the prophecy againist Tyre.

Squirrel do you remember that dream I had about the "two Tyres"? I think it was Plato that wrote that Atlantis was also connected as part of Tyre which fell into the ocean.
It seems like God may be showing us a type but l don't have enough historical and Biblical knowledge to elaborate on it any further. I contributed the above piece because it lined up with what l heard the night before But seems and maybe doesn't make it so. We need more witness.

These prized objects are really worthless.

I don’t understand this “type” fs.
Maybe I’m just in too literal a mood today… and I’m not seeing your “type”.
For me:
Tyre was conquered by the Babylonians.
Ezekiel, an Israeli prophet, is prophesying to Tyre - from his Babylonian captivity… and is told to lament for them Ez 27:2 . I find that interesting that God isn’t taking delight in destroying Israel’s enemies.
Obvious thru Ez 27 there is a lot of pride, boasting.
And the word of the Lord comes in Ez 28. Say unto the prince of Tyrus… (to me,) this sounds like it is directed to the living mortal who is in charge at Tyre… again it’s the heart thing… pride… this guy must have been involved is some practices that are quite appalling… God tells him that he is claiming to be God… and God knows he is just a man… and then God says something really weird… you are wiser than Daniel… (there is fame to Daniel - he was an international figure… we know he was involved in the politics on Babylon… how interesting - wiser than Daniel.) … and on and on.. This prince is wise… and controls just about everything… yet verse 9, how ironic - you claim to be God… tell that to the man who kills you.
Prince of Tyre as an antichrist… I can see all the control… maybe I ought to study this a bit more - perhaps it’s here to learn what the AC will be like…
BUT, I’m not sure I’m getting the king of Tyrus as an Adam figure. Fallen man… I’ll have to think on it.
Ez 28:11,12 Ezekiel seems to take on a different tone. And again a lamentation… interesting… especially with where the next few verses go…
The idea of prince and king… the king must be the power behind the prince… and the prince is the one who is mortal - and controlling Tyre, in the physical world…
Vss 12,13 Thou sealest up the sum, full of wisdom, and perfect in beauty. Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was thy covering…
You… the power behind the prince of Tyre - you are the resulting embodiment of wisdom’s fullness and you are perfect in beauty. Wow! I don’t even know what to say to that… because I know what the next line is…
You have been in Eden - the garden of God. This “king of Tyre” isn’t Adam., nor Eve. I am really sure God isn’t speaking to the literal, mortal “prince” of Tyre… God is speaking to that 3rd individual that was in the garden… the one who deceived Eve. The serpent, satan, Lucifer - this is the King of Tyre, the power behind the prince of Tyre.

This “king of Tyre” he - present tense - is the anointed cherub. “that covereth” - he was/is above all the others…
15 Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee.
This anointed cherub, full of wisdom and beauty, the power behind the prince of Tyre - was perfect in his ways… from the day he was created.
(I am sighing an exhausted sigh.)
The Lord is the Creator. The Lord created this anointed cherub. The Lord has told Ezekiel to take up a lamentation … for this cherub.
(15) till iniquity was found in thee. What was the iniquity found in satan? Isa 14:12-17. Pride. He wanted to be like God. Where did it start - well the scripture says it started in his heart. (satan with a heart - now that is interesting, eh?) Jesus in the Sermon on the Mount says something like anger starts in the heart and is just like murder… lust starts in the heart and is just like adultery.

pride comes before a fall. haughtiness before a crash.
and it is something to mourn over.
the bringing of wisdom to ruin. For God will turn the "wisdom of men" into mere foolishness. and what is considered as 'foolishness' to men, will become known as "wisdom". for it is wisdom, to FEAR THE TRUE GOD (and the wisdom of God is manifest in the Christ, who is Jesus.)
and to TURN AWAY FROM WHAT IS BAD-- that is what understanding is.
and that is what is written.
there is no rejoicing to be felt in the heart over the death of someone wicked.
but, rather, there is great rejoicing in all of heaven,
even among the angels,
even over one sinner,
that repents.
love the True God. His word is truth.
Jesus is the reason to rejoice.
Look! He has already conquered the world!
Hallelujah!
LOVE! and pray for me also, as i pray for all who belong to Christ. may we be delivered from what is evil. May glory go, for it belongs, to God, and to his Son!

Here's another prophecy againist Tyre from Amos chapter 1:

9 The Lord says, "For three sins of Tyre and for four, I will not hold back punishment. They took a nation of people and sold them to Edom. They did not remember the agreement between brothers. 10 So I will send fire upon the wall of Tyre, and it will destroy her strong-places."
( BZ, didn't the colonies took a nation of people and sold them too? There's so much similarity even in this verse )
