07/30/06 Prayer Request from Philippines
We are currently being hit by the outer edges of Typhoon 'Henry', which is expected to hit us dead-center tomorrow. For the last 2 days our family has been without food or drinking water, and also no cash due to an ATM foul-up yesterday. Our ministry relies on the debit card system to get funds to us on the mission-field. Yesterday, when trying to withdraw $400 from our PayPal ATM card, we discovered the ATM machine was not working properly, and the machine automatically cancelled the transaction. But today when trying to draw out the money for the 2nd time, we discovered that the $400 was still debited from our PayPal account yesterday when the machine malfunctioned, and it may take weeks to get it straightened out with the Bank of the Philippine Islands. This puts our available PayPal balance under $20, too small to draw out from the ATM machine. And even if the funds were available, tomorrow (Monday) ATM machines are not expected to be working because of Typhoon Henry (they may or may not be working tomorrow). Short of Western Union, there is probably no way to get funds to us until mid-week when the storm passes. I have been very frustrated by all of this, so please pray that I would have more patience. Since we have not had drinking water, our family has been eating mangos to stay hydrated. But it would be nice to have fresh water to drink and brush our teeth (you can only drink bottled water in the Philippines). I really shouldn't be so anxious and stressed, many are going through much worst situations throughout the world. Thank you so much for your prayers.
