Has anyone studied these verses in Zechariah 14:16-21?

i had asked this question on another board i'm on last year and received a couple of good replies

Today i started thinking about it again, so i thought i would post it here to see if anyone had any thoughts on these verses

Z'kharYah {Zechariah] 14:16 Finally, everyone remaining from all the nations that came to attack Yerushalayim will go up every year to worship the king, Yahweh-Tzva'ot, and to keep the festival of Sukkot. 17 If any of the families of the earth does not go up to Yerushalayim to worship the king, Yahweh-Tzva'ot, no rain will fall on them. 18 If the family of Egypt doesn't go up, if they refuse to come, they will have no [annual] overflow [from the Nile]; moreover, there will be the plague with which Yahweh will strike the nations that don't go up to keep the festival of Sukkot. 19 This will be Egypt's punishment and the punishment of all the nations that don't go up to keep the festival of Sukkot. 20 When that day comes, this will be written on the bells worn by the horses: "Consecrated to Yahweh"; and the cooking pots in the house of Yahweh will be [as holy] as the sprinkling bowls before the altar. 21 Yes, every cooking pot in Yerushalayim and Y'hudah will be consecrated to Yahweh-Tzva'ot. Everyone who offers sacrifices will come, take them and use them to stew the meat. When that day comes, there will no longer be merchants in the house of Yahweh-Tzva'ot.

Yes it is little spoken of that in the day that the New Jeruselm sets down covering a cubic area of the entire region given to Avraham, that Yehoshuah will sit and reign and the temple will be brought near that the sacrifices" a shadow of what was" will be repeated. Day after day, week after week, year after year.

I know this disturbs many but, When God says forever, apparently it means forever. Revelation and Hebrews both specifically state the feast of Tabernacles.

Yom Kippur will also be kept and of course Passover and Shavout. I don't understand Shavout so much, but apparently the giving of the Law was a big thing in his book.

I'm curious too... as to where in scripture New Jerusalem actually "sets down". You do mean setting down on the earth, yes? I just haven't found it in scripture.

I saw no Temple in the city, for YHWH, God of heaven's armies, is its Temple, as is the Lamb. The city has no need for the sun or the moon to shine on it, because God's Sh'khinah gives it light, and its lamp is the Lamb. The nations will walk by its light, and the kings of the earth will bring their splendor into it. Its gates will never close, they stay open all day because night will not exist there, and the honor and splendor of the nations will be brought into it. Nothing impure may enter it, nor anyone who does shameful things or lies; the only ones who may enter are those whose names are written in the Lamb's Book of Life.

Yeah... I've been searching too Bat Yah...

those two verses talk of it coming down... I just find it interesting that it doesn't say that it touches the ground... which has made me wonder if it might remain above the earth/ground... like a jewel, an adornment for all to see...

Mt. Zion represents the true kingdom of God, the true Church, whereas the New Jerusalem Bride sits on top of Mt. Zion because she is over the rest of the Church in the throne.

As spiritual Jews, the Church is called to grow up out of the “falsehood” of religion and enter into the Mount Zion of “a pure heart”, “truth”, and holiness. (Ps.24:3) Who shall ascend into the hill of Lord? And who shall stand in his holy place? (4) He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; Who hath not lifted up his soul unto falsehood. (Ps.15:1) Lord, who shall sojourn in thy tabernacle? Who shall dwell in thy holy hill? (2) He that walketh uprightly, and worketh righteousness, And speaketh truth in his heart.
Notice that the Church enters “into” the hill of Zion, however the King, His Bride and His throne are “upon” the hill of Zion. (Ps.2:6) Yet I have set my king upon my holy hill of Zion.

This spiritual Mt. Zion and its holy city are not physical and cannot be touched by carnal man. (Heb.12:18) For ye are not come unto [a mount] that might be touched.When the Church was full of apostolic teaching and the Holy Spirit they submitted to the spiritual city of God. (22) But ye are come unto Mount Zion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to innumerable hosts of angels, (23) to the general assembly and church of the firstborn who are enrolled in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect. The good news is that another firstborn Church is being called out of apostate Christianity in our day. They are coming back to “mount Zion” and “heavenly Jerusalem” which together represent truth, anointing, and holiness. (Mic.4:2) And many nations shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of Lord, and to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths. For out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of Lord from Jerusalem.

So we can see its not a city of stone that will come out of heaven, we are already in it. We are seated in the heavenlies in Christ and those who overcome (first by faith, then by manifestation) will sit on the throne with Jesus, ontop of this mountain (Kingdom of God) and rule.

the amplified bible doesn't say MEAT.........it says "boil their sacrifices".............i'm thinking that there is no reason to kill, hurt an animal, for a meat sacrifice AFTER christ's death,.........since Christ's death is adequate.


the NT Passover is with wine and bread...........not with a lamb.........no lamb needs to suffer and die, after christ's death

after the return of christ, i'm thinking, much (but not all) of the Adamic Curse is lifted.

I can prove , from the Bible text, that there are no ETs anywhere, or Martians, or UFOs.

Where is God’s focus? Earth.
Where did God put His Name? Jerusalem, on Earth.
Where did God put His “peculiar treasure” (the nation Israel)? Earth, in the Promised Land.
What shall the meek (Jesus and His Bride) inherit, as per the Sermon on the Mount? Earth.
Where was the Savior, Jesus, born, crucified, and resurrected? Earth.
Will Jesus die AGAIN for the sins and Redemption of the Martians, on Mars? No. Jesus died a ONE-TIME DEATH, and cannot die again. He is in His Resurrection body now, which CANNOT die or even get sick.
Where will Jesus Return? Earth.
Where will Jesus Reign, during the Millenial Reign? On Earth, in Jerusalem.
Where will we spend Eternity Future, an Endless Day? The New Jerusalem, on (or above) the New Earth.

My point is: God’s focus is on Earth, and Earthlings, and Jerusalem.
There are no ETs. The Bible indicates that there are no Martians..

The (alledged) possiblility of the existance of ETs is simply propaganda for the Evolution Lie.

Why do people “claim” to believe Evolution? It contradicts the Bible; and God’s enemies are try-ing every trick to destroy our confidence in the Bible.

Heb 10:12 but he, when he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God;
Heb 10:13 henceforth expecting till his enemies be made the footstool of his feet.
Praise God, the sacrifice of Jesus extends into eternity (for ever) for those who believe that His sacrifice was all that was needed. There is no other gospel, than : Jesus died and this sacrifice was "for ever"

If that was not "for ever" you and I would have no hope.

So for those who are setting their hope on some animal sacrifice in the future: Please ask God to reveal His grace to you, plus reveal to you the total redemption that came through Jesus. Also ask Him to open your eyes so you can see and that you may be able to believe this scripture:

1Co 10:11 Now these things happened unto them by way of example (types and shadows); and they were written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the ages are come. (us , today)

So if you continue to walk in the shadow,(example) you cannot walk in the Light

My posts are directed to the people who started this thread. I remember this post from when I was in admin. It re-occurs now and then, and it is bringing the law with it, to bring people back under the Law.
Some are still confused about the "shadow" and the "letter" and the "spirit". They keep on mixing everything up and the worst thing is when they bring it as "teaching". Its murky, like troubled water and brings confusion in its wake to those who are not strong in their Word understanding. The young Christians have very little defence, because they have still little Word knowledge.

Mat 5:17 Think not that I came to destroy the law or the prophets: I came not to destroy, but to fulfil Thank God is over and fulfilled now. Thank God that we do not have the same covenant as Israel had .Heb 8:6 But now hath he (Jesus) obtained a ministry the more excellent, by so much as he is also the mediator of a better covenant, which hath been enacted upon better promises. We do not have the Old Covenant anymore, but we do have a Covenant. Its a brand new one, based on better promises.

Now we are suppose to read the OT so that we can see the teachings hidden there, plus we read it so that we can understand what will happen to the church. Because Israel is also a picture of the church.1Co 10:11 Now these things happened unto them (ISRAEL) by way of example (types and shadows); and they were written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the ages are come. now if we combine that with Ecc 1:9 That which hath been is that which shall be; and that which hath been done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun. . we have a winning way to understand not only the way of the church, but we can use this key, that God gave us, to understand what is going to happen to us in future. Because the Bible tells us 1) Israel is a picture of the church and 2) everything that has happened, will happen again.

from abraham to Jesus was ABOUT 2000 years.........this is the AGE of ISRAEL.

from Christ to His Return is ABOUT 2000 years

the GOLDEN AGE of ISRAEL was david...........about 1000 BC

the GOLDEN AGE of the christian church was..............?

the HIGH POINT of ISRAEL was the FIRST COMING of CHRIST.

Brother Dennis, I am not saying that, but its a direct quote from the Word. The (Israel) and (types and shadows) and (us,today) are mine , but actually not really mine, because that is also what the plain text is saying.

My point would be: We must use that which is written in the Old Testament, and see in the spirit, so that we can understand what is about to happen.
Why do I say it:
because the Bible tells us we must.

So we can freely look into all that happened and learn. The OT is FULL of lessons and types and shadow.
You can find Jesus in: Moses, Joshua, David, Joseph.
You find latter day Israel in Benjamin
You find the church in Zion, Jerusalem, Branch, torch, etc
you find the Word of God in : Unleavened Bread, Manna , water, blood, wine.
You find children of God as vessels (sometimes in the temple, sometimes they are mentioned as vessels of gold and silver) Even in the NT God uses that image where Jesus changes water into wine (full of types and shadows)
You will find re-birth in the Red Sea.......leaving the "old man" (Egyptian) behind and dead.
You will see the Baptism in the Holy Spirit in the Column of Fire and Smoke
You will see the Kingdom of God in "Mount Horeb"
You will see death to self in "no flesh can touch this mountain and live"
From the mountain comes the Word of God brought down by Moses (a type of Jesus and a type of man-child in Rev 12)
You will see the bitter water of Marah (our human speech) changed by the Word of God (tree=cross, thrown into the water)
You will see the Jordan=death
You will see the tabernacle=your and my body in which dwells God: Christ in you the hope of Glory
You will see the serpent on the pole=Jesus on the cross, who became sin for us
You will see the promise Land (Land of promises, we have better promises) as1) our body 2) living in the Kingdom
You will see Joshua as Jesus leading the people
many , many , many more,,,,,,,,,,,,I am just giving you some from the top of my head.

The church is there as Jerusalem, as Zion, Mt Zion the Kingdom of God. Look in Psalms.

The bride is Esther, the King is Jesus, in that story you will see the preparation of the bride, even the mirrha that was used is symbolic and speaks to us. In that story you will find the picture of the antichrist and the false prophet. You will see the Bride in action.

The bride is also the Sulamite woman in the Song of Soloman. Soloman is the picture of Jesus as the Groom.

Even some of the prophets themselves makes pictures of Jesus.

We have to ask God to help us see, otherwise we cannot do this. He has hidden things and calls it Hidden Manna

Rev 2:17 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith to the churches. To him that overcometh, to him will I give of the hidden manna

Being children of Abraham spiritually does not make one Jewish or even spiritually Jewish. Only Jews and converted gentiles to Judaism are Jewish. It does make one a child of God. English is a bit tricky to translate into.

I am sure that you are right and ready to tell us why we cannot believe the Bible . I am sure (if you are correct) that God must have had a very difficult time, being faced with a "difficult"language.




I must admit, that I am not into the "do you understand the Jewish way" or "you should know that in that time it meant" God is all powerful and sovereign. He is (and has been) well able to bring the meaning of His Word across to those who follow Him. The Scriptures is readily available and also in Greek and Hebrew (not impossible today to read them for yourselves and look up the meaning of the words.)
God wrote through Paul: You are a Jew in My eyes, when you like Abraham, have faith in what I say. You are then a child of Abraham, because he is the "father" of the "way you walk"
Same as we are Christians (Christ-in people) Jesus is also our Eternal Father, because we walk in His footsteps. He is not the FATHER , but He is called :

Isa 9:6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

He is our "Father" in how we walk into everlasting life.

So we are Jews, if we follow in the steps of faith.

Notice that those Jews who did not follow Jesus was NOT the children of Abraham, but of satan.Again, because they produced not spiritual fruit that made them "children of Abraham"

Joh 8:39 They answered and said unto him, Our father is Abraham. Jesus saith unto them, If ye were Abraham's children, ye would do the works of Abraham.

What makes you a child of Abraham according to Jesus?

Answer: doing the works of Abraham

What is the works of Abraham?

He believed God (not believed IN Him, ........he actually BELIEVED God)Rom 4:3 For what saith the scripture? And Abraham believed God, and it was reckoned unto him for righteousness.

So dear people of God. If you believe God, have faith in WHAT He says, He will reckon it as righteousness to you. Believe His promises.

Do not walk back under the law and do not allow wolves to devour you. Stick to the Word of God and trust it, for many will come and tell you that you cannot believe what you read, or that you have no real knowledge. But God promised you: Ask and ye shall receive. Ye have not for ye ask not. If any man lacks wisdom let him ask of the Lord.
God is the only One who is worthy to open the Word to you. He is well able and has always been ready. Do not be misled. Stand on the Word, because it is our Rock. It cannot move.

I posted it on Jun 1 2006, 12:44 AM and it was not brought up again until Bananna replied on Nov 28 2006, 11:18 PM . I guess one could consider that it re-occurs now and then, BUT how did you come to the part that i am trying to bring people back under the 'law' ?

It's obvious to me that Yahweh was not asked what my intentions are for asking this question, otherwise the accusation would not have been made.

I believe that we are saved by grace through faith – period.

There IS NOTHING we can do to add to the work of the Perfect Passover Lamb.

I asked this question for a reason that has nothing to do with the 'law'.
I know that these verses are for the end of this world age as we know it, but want to know who are they that will be offering sacrifices in verse 21?
