He is a giant of a man and yet he stands only 4 feet tall.
He has no well built physique but some consider him a professional athlete.
His stride is not mighty but it stretches farther than a country.
He has no grace or style, he tilts slightly as he shuffles along.
He's in no hurry and will stop and share a smile or a laugh.
What on God's green earth could possibly make him a giant?

He has rock hard persistance, an indominable will.
At 6 am in the rain and wind he is out walking, not fast but steady like a clock, tick, tock, tick, tock... At eight he stops for breakfast. At nine he is out walking again; tick, tock, tick, tock... At noon he stops for lunch and then chills out for an hour. At 2, he is at it again; tick, tock, just like the clock he is on his merry way. At 5 he stops for dinner, at 6 he's at it again, steady as a rock tick, tock. Now walking 20 miles in 10 hours is not particularly remarkable and admittedly he stops to chat fairly often, however At 94 it is quite an accomplishment, but what is remarkable is that he does this everyday. To put this in perspective, he walks more than 5 marathons a week, every week rain or shine. Every year he walks the equivalent of across the U.S. and back. New Balance was so impressed with his prowess that they have offered him a lifetime supply of shoes, he wears them out and then sends them back for testing.

For as long as I can remember, God has been teaching me about endurance and perserverance. This is really a burden on my heart that we all need to learn.

Matthew 24:13

But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.

How do you endure? This may sound like an oversimplification, but it's not, "you just keep walking", "you put one foot in front of the other and repeat as necessary".
When I was 11 I belonged to a boy scout troop that did a lot of hiking and I learned to just keep, keeping on. There is no quit in this game. When you get tired, you just focus on making one more step. You may think that you don't have the strength for the whole journey but you will find that you can muster the strength for one more step.
