Full Version: What Is Our God?
Christian-Forum.net > General discussion > What do you say?
Humble Bob
Peace to all, for Christ is risen! God has given me a curious heart and a mind for him to ponder of him. If the Lord had not given me such things I would be lost and carnal minded.

I certainly still struggle in my Christian walk and in my faith for him, though it seem more of a time that I struggle with God than with the principalities of darkness.

But anyway, tell me anyone, a Bible verse or an opinion, preferably a bible verse, what is our God that we so endear through his Son Jesus Christ?

with Love

Romans 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

2 Timothy 1:12 For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.

Bless your heart Tigger!

...God is Salvation for those who believe

Does anyone else agree? Is this a good summary of what our God is? Anyone else?
Pamela
But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God's wrath through him! For if, when we were God's enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life! Not only is this so, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation. (Romans 5:8-11)

Isn't that what he did with the "big bang" when he said "let there be light"?

...but anyway what is our God? Love, salvation, the Holy Spirit so by virtue the Word? Eternal, which by the way I emphasize wink.gif ( yes this is all leading to something so please humor me laugh.gif )

Very well said, Shy1 wub.gif

I would agree, in fact I would agree to all these things that this is our God!

But, one thing has not been mention that he is undeniably that which is our God.

Maybe I have not allow enough time for people to answer, but I won't play that "I know something that you don't mystery game," tongue.gif laugh.gif for it is plainly in scripture for all to read and contemplate.

Our GOD is a CONSUMING FIRE (Hebrews 12:29)

Oh but HB, if we forget these things, of how GOD has changed us from our sinful nature; then how can we know the fullness of GOD? We have been purged of the old sin and have been made new. Only GOD can do that!

Ecclesiastes 3:17 I said in mine heart, God shall judge the righteous and the wicked: for there is a time there for every purpose and for every work.

God is a judge. (I know, I know, I just like the verse)

Romans 8:32 32 He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?

God is Just.

Romans 8:35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?

God is True.

PSALM 119:105 Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.

God is righteous.

God is Grace.

God is Beauty,

God is Merciful.

God is Patient.

God has a great sense of humor.

John 3:15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. 16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. 18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. 19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. 20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.

Another good verse, Tigger!

But here is the answer. It is in Isaiah 30:33

Isaiah 30:33
33 For Tophet is ordained of old; yea, for the king it is prepared; he hath made it deep and large: the pile thereof is fire and much wood; the breath of the Lord, like a stream of brimstone, doth kindle it.

The breath of God is also like a stream of brimstone.

Now, tell me, what else is Eternal, being of fire and has brimstone in it?
onetiggerroo
The lake of fire.

QUOTE(onetiggerroo @ Apr 16 2006, 08:46 PM)
The lake of fire.

Very well said, Susan!

They are one and the same!

Now, does God plan to throw something in a fire to torment for ever? No, he cast that which is under his curse to be destroyed, for God is good and no curse is within him or his kingdom. The brimstone is that which purifies, as God purifies all things by fire.

Now then the victory that Christ as righteously won by his death and resurrection here is what it is. The enemy thought he would kill God, but the word of God cannot be undone. And the enemy fought God saying he could not be undone but God proved his Word and shall undo the devil and his works. This is the true meaning of salvation from our God who IS a CONSUMING FIRE.

Amen. sleep.gif

Yes, HB and many people will suffer the wrath of GOD. Because they choose not to accept HIM.

Again...

What would be reproved? The sins of men. How will it be reproved?

Revelation 19:20 And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone.

Revelation 20:10 And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.

Revelation 20:14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. 15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

GOD is a just GOD and HE loved us so much, that HE sent JESUS to take our place in the death caused from sin. HB, I really do pray that every person that has ever lived would choose JESUS and life eternally. But many will not heed the call of GOD. They will make the wrong choice. sad.gif

Many people do hear GOD'S call and answer it and come to know JESUS as their LORD and SAVIOR! wub.gif We can Praise GOD for each new Christian as they begin a walk that is eternal life!

My dear, every person is a wheat grass or is a grain of wheat, and every person has a tare that has grown with them or has chaff on them. Truly, we follow the seed and the harvest in many things...it dfepends upon a way in which man chooses to work.

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Men have the choice to make.

Proverbs 11:7 When a wicked man dieth, his expectation shall perish: and the hope of unjust men perisheth.

2 Peter 2:9 The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished:

Revelation 22:11 He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still.

Only those that do not know JESUS will hear these words.....

Matthew 7:23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

and those that know JESUS will hear....

Matthew 25:21 His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.

Matthew 25:23 His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.

There will be judgement...

2 Timothy 4:1 I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom;

1 Peter 4:5 Who shall give account to him that is ready to judge the quick and the dead.

GOD gives us the choice....that is what our GOD is to me. wub.gif Because I know about JESUS. Someone took the time to to tell me the old, old story about a SAVIOR that came from glory. I made the decision to choose JESUS. PRIASE GOD! blush.gif He met me where I was at, and took me by my heart and is preparing a new place for me in heaven. I feel like shouting! blush.gif
