Hello family,

I know I said I would find an old Hagadah or prayer book for Passover....but thought since I haven't been able to find it, I still wanted to share about the Passover plate and how it reveals Christ to us. I will also at the end give you the site so you can read as much as you would like to know about...How Passover is a foreshadowing event pointing the jews to know Messiah, I pray more jews come to know the Lord...in Jesus name I pray, amen. Here is the plate symbolism:

I did edit and delete what I had previously given, it just wasn't the complete story, so here is what I do have about the Seder Plate and then a Messianic site for the "Whole Story"!

First, I will start with the plate:

There is the Matzoh, or unleavened bread, which is what the Lord ate at the Last supper.

There is a Lambs shankbone put upon the plate, of course, we know "He was the ultimate sacrificial lamb, and represented by the shankbone".

There is Parsley put upon the plate which also has "salt water on it" to dip the parsely into "To remember the tears shed in Egypt".

There is Maror, a bitter green herb, for One rememberance of the "bitterness of Egpytian bondage".

There is also Horseradish on the plate, another symbol of the "bitterness the hebrews indured under Pharohs rule.

There is also, a "Roasted egg", which of course symbolises two things...The Triune Spirit of God, and our own three fold lives. The outer shell of the egg which is roasted, just like when we go through "a fiery trial", and then under that is our "mind or soul" the white of the egg, and then we have the Yellow yolk that symbolises our Golden Spirits which belong to Him within the heart of the egg, protected by HIM!

And, then lastly, the Seventh item is Karaset...which is apples, nuts and honey ground into a spred...for the Joy that comes in "The promised land" Israel!

Now, that covers the plate itself, and for much more info...this site is a Christian Jews site...so I think this one is much more accurate with His wisdom.

Now, here is the link with way more info than I could have served you! When the web is used for good purposes "it can come in and teach"...

http://www.localaccess.com/pari/passover.htm

I think I may do some reading in there, looked interesting. May this site bless those who want to know "how to have a "Last Supper" in your home this Passover. Which by the way, just happens to be in the same order as in Jesus' day this year! So, the jews will be celebrating "Passover" on the first night...the same sundown night that Jesus celebrated Passover, and the Christians will "grieve on the same Friday...that the Disiples of Christ did", and even the Greek Orthodox should have the same line up as the RCC, The Jewish Temples, The Greeks Orthodox, and the rest of the Christian World...all celebrating at the same time! I don't know how often the days all line up correctly as in Christs days, but this year is one of them!

And, you know I had been thinking for a long while about "why there were "eggs" used at Easter, and I know "most people" think it is from an old pagan fertility ritual, but if you read "there is an egg" upon the seder plate, maybe this is where the old "egg" tradition started! I dunno, just thought about that last night! Now, the Easter bunny, they all got me on that one! laugh.gif Well, I hope this site will be more helpful than the last, and I am sorry that sooo many read the other site, which was not all that informative. wub.gif to all, your sis, hannah smile.gif

Taken from the website above....

"The setting of the Lord's Supper at the heart of the Passover meal explains its meaning. Jesus Christ is Himself the Passover lamb, offered up for the redemption and deliverance of His people (I Corinthians 5:7), the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world (John 1:29). The bread and wine speak of His death, and of the new covenant it ratifies, reconciling God and man. Jesus says "Do this in rememberance of Me" (Luke 22:19; I Corinthians 11:24-25), telling His disciples that the Passover is fulfilled in Him. Until He comes again (Luke 22:18; I Corinthians 11:26), we are to remember the significance of what He has done for us."

I just want to pull the verses mentioned and see the relation.....

1 Corinthians 5:7 Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us:

John 1:29 The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.

Luke 22:18 For I say unto you, I will not drink of the fruit of the vine, until the kingdom of God shall come. 19 And he took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me.

1 Corinthians 11:24 And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me.

11:25 After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me.

11:26 For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord's death till he come.

2 other websites with great information....

This one is by the Church of Christ....

This one is by Jews for Jesus...and I especially like the explanation of...

1. Why do we place three matzos together in one napkin?

2. Why is the middle matzoh, the afikoman, broken in the course of the Seder?

3. Where is our pesach, our Passover sacrifice, today?

I found these two websites very enlightning also....

The second one is Jews for Jesus...

These are interesting discussions on this website....

1. Why do we place three matzos together in one napkin?

2. Why is the middle matzoh, the afikoman, broken in the course of the Seder?

3. Where is our pesach, our Passover sacrifice, today?

4. The Passover Lamb

Hanna,

Thanks for bringing this up. In my small group last night the young people struggled to explain the passover meal to each other. huh.gif

I thought of your post. It's caused me to want to dig in and find a printable version to hand out to the group.

It's rich in meaning and at this time of year would make a great easter card or witnessing tool. And thanks for the egg part too you guys....That's a helpful handy interpretation. A way of turning something around for good.

Hannah,
Enjoyed your post............... I was moved by the egg and immediately reflected on the Easter egg................ God is good.................

I will look at food in a different way………….. As we look forward through Jesus….
It’s so good to look forward to…………… the Wedding Feast of the Lamb........

John 7:37 In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink.

Matthew 22:The kingdom of the heavens has become like a king who made a wedding feast for his son,

Praise Jesus……Luke 24:1 But while they yet did not believe for joy, and were wondering,……………….. he said to them,…………. Have ye anything here to eat?
42 And they gave him part of a broiled fish and of a honeycomb;
43 and he took it and ate before them.

Praise Jesus ghosts don’t eat and leave crumbs……………lol
We are going to a feast……… THE WEDDING FEAST OF THE LAMB.

GOD BLESS wub.gif

What do you mean, when you say Passover just happens this year to be in the same order as in Jesus' day? huh.gif blush.gif

Could you explain? cool.gif

Hi,

I think what is meant is that all the holy days of the Jewish and
Christian calendar fall together this year.

In the day of Christ...there was no separation...no change of days...
the counting of time is different now...than then...and between the
Jewish calendar and the church calendar established by Pope Gregory.

Also, the days are counted differently in the religious Jewish though as
it was counted in the time of Jesus. A day was counted from first
evening star to evening star. We count our days from 12 midnight
to 12 midnight...and we call morning or course that same day after
midnight...then a day was from that pm star...went thru the next am
and day changed on the next pm star...so you see, our counting of
days and times are different...

Blessings,
Signet
