I've noticed lately how the mainstream media are always about 6 months behind what's actually going on (at least). By the time you hear about something in the mainstream press, it's already old news if you follow alternative media outlets. From WMDs in Syria to the Iran standoff, the Mainstream Press are generally draggin behind.
I suggest, for example,
CNS News,
Haaretz,
IsraelNationalNews,
VOA News, and
WorldNetDaily.
Hal Lindsey,
Jack Kinsella,
Jack Van Impe, and
Gary Kah all do a good job of digging up the 'news behind the news'. (Also see John Hagee's
John Hagee Today and Perry Stone's
Mannafest on TV.)
Fulfilled Prophecy does a good job too and my own site (DaysofNoah.org) has proven to be ahead of the curve a few times itself. (My site, though second hand, consolidates and analyzes.) Also, I often come across something I have missed in this message board's
current events section.
I know that most reading this post are already aware of such alternative media, but for the few who may not be I suggest checking out these sources. Peace be with you!!!

Won't you pluck the bird for us too?

Thanks for the list--since joining this forum, I have been astounded at the amount of information that y'all are able to dig up that isn't on the news but should be. This place beats any news outlet anywhere.

Miki, I have linked the sources (see original post).

Could somebody help me?
I've always been pretty hesistant about following televagelists and these sites that have this type of news because I have no way of knowing if the information is true or just stuff made up to get us on a bandwagon.
I guess my question is, how does one determine what is true and what is not when searching these sights? What kinds of things should one look for?

Good question Peace of God. We can't just believe everything we read or hear, for there is much misinformation floating around. There is no question that Satan uses misdirection to trip Christians up. So the best place to start is the Word of God. (Cliche but true.) If we read anything that contradicts the Word of God then Praise God, we have just crossed one possibility off of our list. Unfortunately, even this isn't foolproof because so many fail to divide the Word of God properly. Most people tend to interpret news and information in light of their own system of theology. For example, for those who teach that the Church Replaces Israel in God's plan, the rebirth of the Nation State of Israel in 1948 is just a coincidence and not related to the end of days. For those who believe that God still has a future for the Jewish people and national Israel, prophecy is unfolding before their eyes.
Unfortunately their is no clear cut answer here. Personally, I choose to engage in the 'arena of ideas' rather than just hopelessly throwing my hands up in frustration. I suggest reading the Bible daily. Then, just read. Almost anything will do. If undecided as to alternative verses mainstream media, read both!
For some reason, I seem to be attracted to the most controversial issues (lately the Council on Foreign Relations, the Trilateral Commission, Roman Catholicism, Freemasonry, the United Nations, the Israeli/Palestinian issue, etc.). My personal philosophy is this: if it weren't important, there wouldn't be a cover-up or a controversy! In other words, Ephesians 6:12: We wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
Hope this helps!
Also look at the site you are on. There is normally a general feel about it. Look at what the rest of the articles are about. Most of the times you can filter out the loonies. Cross check by Googling it and see what others have to say. Pray for discernment and that the Lord will protect you from false issues and doctrines. And like daysofnoah says, stick to the Word.

Thanks for your answer DayofNoah. That's pretty much what I do now, pray and rely on God. God always reveals to me what I need to know. I believe God has placed people like you with the gift of discerning this type of information for those of us who have other gifts and lack in this area.

Thank you as well, Cornelius.
God has blessed me with an amazing gift of discernment (all Praise to God), but I guess I've just been reluctant to go on these sites. I grew up in churches that circulated their own 'news' just to gain followers and I guess this is why I have a strong aversion to it. But I will definately check these sites out. I guess it's like with anything, sometimes you have to dive in

That's great!!! His dad and my grandfather Park Saylor used to go around together at revivals...many years ago, they prayed for one man that had his eye poked out and a New Blue eye came in that man. I have heard so many stories like that growing up..I'm working on a book to record some of these before they die and are never told again... If you get the chance ask Perry about it. He is coming to my families church in Sept. Here's that info...The church is about 10 mile from Cincinnati here it that info: September 13th, 2006 @ 7:00 pm
