I'm new to this forum. I read alot of your passages. So I have a question for you and I'm sure you're a busy person so I don't expect an immediate answer if one at all. My question is how do you distinguish between a false prophet or a true prophet of God? And I say this because it is very easy for someone to say I am speaking in God's name. The Bible tells Christian to beware of false prophets because they will arise, especially in the last days. So I am asking, how would you distinguish is someone is a false prophet or not?
That's all
God bless

First off let me welcome you to this forum!
To answer your question about how do you tell a false prophet from a real prophet.... (Blue=good prophets) (Highlighted in black=False prohets)
Numbers 11:29 And Moses said unto him, Enviest thou for my sake? would God that all the LORD's people were prophets, and that the LORD would put his spirit upon them!
Isaiah 29:10 For the LORD hath poured out upon you the spirit of deep sleep, and hath closed your eyes: the prophets and your rulers, the seers hath he covered. Isaiah 30:10 Which say to the seers, See not; and to the prophets,
Prophesy not unto us right things, speak unto us smooth things, prophesy deceits: Jeremiah 2:8 The priests said not,
Where is the LORD? and they that handle the law knew me not: the pastors also transgressed against me, and the prophets prophesied by Baal, and walked after things that do not profit. Jeremiah 2:26
As the thief is ashamed when he is found, so is the house of Israel ashamed; they, their kings, their princes, and their priests, and their prophets.
Jeremiah 5:13 And the prophets
shall become wind, and the word is not in them: thus shall it be done unto them.
Jeremiah 5:31 The prophets
prophesy falsely, and the priests bear rule by their means; and my people love to have it so: and what will ye do in the end thereof? Jeremiah 13:13 Then shalt thou say unto them, Thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will fill all the inhabitants of this land, even the kings that sit upon David's throne, and the priests, and the prophets, and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, with
drunkenness. Jeremiah 14:14 Then the LORD said unto me, The prophets
prophesy lies in my name: I sent them not, neither have I commanded them, neither spake unto them: they prophesy unto you a false vision and divination, and a thing of nought, and the deceit of their heart. Jeremiah 23:13 And I have seen folly in the prophets of Samaria;
they prophesied in Baal, and caused my people Israel to err. Jeremiah 23:14 I have seen also in the prophets of Jerusalem an horrible thing:
they commit adultery, and walk in lies: they strengthen also the hands of evildoers, that none doth return from his wickedness; they are all of them unto me as Sodom, and the inhabitants thereof as Gomorrah. Jeremiah 23:16 Thus saith the LORD of hosts, Hearken not unto the words of the prophets that prophesy unto you:
they make you vain: they speak a vision of their own heart, and not out of the mouth of the LORD. Jeremiah 23:25 I have heard what the prophets said, that
prophesy lies in my name, saying, I have dreamed, I have dreamed. Jeremiah 23:26 How long shall this be in the heart of the prophets that prophesy lies? yea,
they are prophets of the deceit of their own heart; Jeremiah 23:30 Therefore, behold, I am against the prophets, saith the LORD, that steal my words every one from his neighbour.
Jeremiah 23:31 Behold, I am against the prophets, saith the LORD,
that use their tongues, and say, He saith. Jeremiah 27:15 For I have not sent them, saith the LORD, yet they
prophesy a lie in my name; that I might drive you out, and that ye might perish, ye, and the prophets that prophesy unto you. Jeremiah 27:16 Also I spake to the priests and to all this people, saying, Thus saith the LORD; Hearken not to the words of your prophets that prophesy unto you,
saying, Behold, the vessels of the LORD's house shall now shortly be brought again from Babylon: for they prophesy a lie unto you. Jeremiah 27:18 But if they be prophets, and if the word of the LORD be with them, let them now make intercession to the LORD of hosts, that the vessels which are left in the house of the LORD, and in the house of the king of Judah, and at Jerusalem, go not to Babylon.
Jeremiah 28:8 The prophets that have been before me and before thee of old prophesied both against many countries, and against great kingdoms, of war, and of evil, and of pestilence. Michah 3:5 Thus saith the LORD
concerning the prophets that make my people err, that bite with their teeth, and cry, Peace; 5 and he that putteth not into their mouths, they even prepare war against him. 1John 4:1-3 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. 2 Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: 3 And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world. A true prophet of God will give the prophecy and it will come to pass, and it will be Biblically sound and found in the scriptures! The prophecy will come to pass 100%
A false prophet will use lies and decieve poeple into thinking the prophecy is true. They may use some scriptural instances, but they will not be 100% accurate in any of their prophecies.
I hope this helps you.
