Hi HF, I hope this doesn't come across the wrong way, but do you find any scriptures that say something to the effect that "gifts of the Holy Sprit were only operative in the early church but will pass away and no longer be operative"? I think if you find scripture to answer this question then it will answer your questions.

Thanks for the link...I think I understand your particular hesitance at taking a test for what "spiritual gifts may lay with you", I think you are saying to beware of false teachings. But, may I ask this...Were spiritual gifts only for the original apostles and not for today?

If so, I understand, but there is scriptures that say something along the lines of "in the last days I will pour My Spirit out for some shall give prophecy's, some will heal, some will dreams, some will interpret dreams, some will speak in tongues, and some will interpret them, and they shall do these thing in MY NAME to lift up whole body to Christ", sorry I am not a wiz at exact scriptures. But, will come back and regive them "in the right wording"!

I do want to say one thing about "faith healers"...I have only seen a "real healing a couple of times...in my whole walk with HIM" so, I am watchful of those asking for money for healing, or even if they just imply they would "receive a donation for healings", they do kinda get to me...I would love to believe them all, but certainly "know better". Jack I can see your point, but I think you might be trowing out the baby with the bath water. I look at your list and there are things there that makes my hair stand on edge, but God is not limited by our doctrines.
Don't make a business out of healing and prayercloths and don't make a circus out of it. But the real anointing is a real thing and it does tend to flow into things. Even JG Lake had healings happen that way.

I cannot shoot down ministry just because they happen to believe in something that scripture says happens.

One sows...one waters...and one harvests....Knowing a tree by it's fruits means other things and not everyone sees what you've done for God. Jimmy Swagert one lot's of souls. But how he lived his life need to be taken into account.

Trees, remember don't bare good fruit all the time. Least according to my Pastor. Good trees occasionally bare some bad fruit. But they don't bare bad fruit all the time.

I have an apple tree in my back yard that is hard to prune. I wanted to cut it down because the fruit was a little funny last year and l notice little holes in the bark thinking it had infestation. My husband said to wait one more year.

So God does with us. For example: Lk 13:6-9 He spoke this parable. "A certain man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard, and he came seeking fruit on it, and found none. He said to the vine dresser, ‘Behold, these three years I have come looking for fruit on this fig tree, and found none. Cut it down. Why does it waste the soil?’ He answered, ‘Lord, leave it alone this year also, until I dig around it, and fertilize it. If it bears fruit, fine; but if not, after that, you can cut it down.’"

All affliction is not due to wrongdoing, but all wrongdoing brings affliction: "Except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish." The tree was a good tree in the begining but has become infested...It's blocking the view and hard to mow around. God weighs everything about a tree before he cuts it down.

Anyway fruit means different things.

I took the test. There was about 96 questions. The farther down the list I went the more inadequate I felt. So when I think about it, there may be more to the test than meets the eye.
Anyway, my highestest gift is in teaching. Next is in serving.

Of course! I am the curious one, remember! I know you probably want to know my results...if I remember correctly, the highest number was in evangalising, and then adminstrator....maybe the last one was because I had to learn that, as I did own my own business for many years....so I kinda just got the hang to be in charge!

I was surprised though that my highest score was to evangalist, I had never seen myself as one! Yeh, like you the further I got in the test the less "perfected" I saw myself, so maybe it is good to see "where we need prayers to let the Lord form us into His vessels"....Like I scored way low on "serving"...so, now I can see where I need to be better at giving of myself, amen! I am sure we all need work at least in one area or another! Or else we would all be Christ, which we know "can't happen"!! At least not in this world! HE IS OUR EVERYTHING OUR ALL IN ALL, AND I LOVE HIM SOOO MUCH!!! Amen!

Hannah, I'm no leader and I knew that before I even took the test. I see the leader's job and I don't want it. The position makes your face turn into this and this and finally this . But I am one heck of a team player.

Well, my brother, you can play on my team anyday! Cuz if being a leader makes you feel and and we sure wouldn't want that to happen! I don't feel that way when I am put to lead, so there ya' go...We each have diferent gifts and leadings from HIM!

When I owned my own business, this happened one day....not bragging on myself here, just giving out advice to anyone in business....A lady came in the door of my store "just screaming at me at the top of her lungs", of course the "second hand toy store I owned" had to be full of people at that moment....well, she kept yelling how I had ripped her off, well you don't stay in business for twenty years "ripping people off" so I proceeded in all "kindness" to show her the retail price for what she had purchased, she called me loudly a "liar"! Even though what I showed her was in a catalog in black and white as to the price of the item, "which we had marked the item "half of retail"....well, she went on and on, I politely stood there...offered her her money back....did that...and then she still left "screaming at me" all about "how the store was a rip"! Well, after all was said and done I was just standing there kinda stunned, but not mad or sad, just stunned! Well, the group of folks in the store "started clapping" and saying "How do you put up with people like her?" Well, I dunno, just learned how that was all, I had been in retail all my life....so when you know this: The Customer is Always Right....you just let the way they act slide! But, it just comes with His teaching us "how" to be HIS! Amen!

Ties right in with the two great commandments, doesn't it. And the Great Commission. And the whole reason the Lord came (John 3:16), which I guess we tend to forget sometimes. Thanks for the reminder, Tom. He's about to return, and we need to keep our focus on Him and on the others that we need to be telling about Him.
