Full Version: The Number Of The Beast

This is something that came to me while reading the Bible a few years ago. I don't know why it came back to me now, but I would love to hear everyone's opinions on this.

In the Bible, certain numbers have a major significance. For example 7 is the number associated with Jesus, and 3 is the number associate with God...6 is the number of man.
So could it really be as simple as the number 666 stands for a man trying to be God?
The number of man repeated 3 times!

Gypsylass, First of all welcome!

That is a good question and I am not sure of just how to reply. But I always assumed the three-sixes were just that, trying to repeat the Godhead....

Some of my notes on numbers.....

3= Divine Nature
7= Completion/rest and abundance
10= Repentance of sins
9=birthing and rebirth

Thanks for your response...I know it says in Revelations that "Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast. For it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six." I have always felt the same, a man trying to be equal to or above God. Which of course is utterly ridiculous, but then Satan is pretty ridiculous.... rolleyes.gif

Yes the devil is ridiculous! He wants to be God, but cannot, because he was formed by God. Seems to me that men often try this too! I Think they take their lead from the old fowler on this.....

Hi Gypsylass!!! Peace in the name of the Lord!!!!!

I was watching the documentary version tonight of "The Late Great Planet Earth" and in it, he mentioned that very thing...that the number six represented man and (if I remember this correctly) to do it in a set of three represented God...so we see it represents a man being God....sound familiar? (Gen 3:4-5) The same thing that was spouted by the serpent in the garden...that man can become God...and there are many versions of that thought within the New Age movement and other false religions today...but the antichrist will be the embodiment of that false doctrine...and will push it to others as well...but PTL, we know how THAT'S gonna end!!!!!!

you didn't hear? it's willy
Maz
Rev 13:17 And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name. Rev 13:18 Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number [is] Six hundred threescore [and] six.

Rev 15:2 And I saw as it were a sea of glass mingled with fire: and them that had gotten the victory over the beast, and over his image, and over his mark, [and] over the number of his name, stand on the sea of glass, having the harps of God.

Apparently some folks get victory over the mark...they seem to have to die to get the victory...

I notice the false prophet is referred to as the second beast...so there are two beasts.
