Setting is late 1800's London. I have a sister, there are only the two of us and a dad. The dad is going on a trip, he takes us by horse drawn carriage, we seem to be of means....he tells us we are going to our great aunt's house, neither of us like her....we suspect her of great evil...we are left in her somewhat large home, which is quite dreary and kinda scary to young girls...upon a landing on a spiral staircase is a suit of amour with his spear....We had suspected, since we could not find the old gardner any more, that she had done away with him...so we watched her from behind the knights amour...we waited and watched, that night as the younger maid was climbing the stairs....we saw the great aunt coming up the stairs behind the maid, who was unaware that she was there...My sister started to cry...I hushed her....when all of a sudden the aunt grabs the spear from the knights hand and....stabs the poor young maid....when the spear pierced the womans stomach....a fetus popped out of the front attached to the front of the spearhead....Then I always wake up in a cold sweat....so anyone want to take a "stab" at that one..."no pun intended" but glad to end on kinda a joke....since the nightmare is so horrific. Well im sorry your having this horrific dream hannah. maybe looking at it will help. I see it this way if it relates to world problems today. seeing that it takes place in 1800 means it was before the industrial machine age.(the old gardener could not be found anymore) meaning that the old traditional ways of farming were lost when modern agriculture arrived. with the modern fertilizers and pestisides along with new equipment. one farmer can yeild more than 1000 times what one just 100 years ago.this is a monumental change in civilzation. The maid represents labor and service industries of today (the top of the stairs) the spear is the symbol of modern warfare. We are capable of destroying the world 100 times over. things are seldom built without intent of useing them! The spear is not just a decoration at the top of the stairs. It was intended to kill. the baby represents the next civilization that will never be. This dream in mho is the fruit from the tree of knowledge.

Wow, that helped me immensely...it does help to understand "why a particular dream keeps getting repeated time and time again". I have had this dream off and on for about the last 15 years or so. I never could quite understand "what it all meant". I thought it was showing me "that my families roots were demonic", shows you how much I "don't know"! I believe the dream you have been having is speaking of those that are spiritually immature. All of the symbolism leans towards this.
Dad, sister and aunt: those in the church, mature and immature spiritually
Large house: lifes experiences
Spiral staircase: reaching for spiritual maturity with God
Old gardener: seeking spiritual nourishment
Armor: protecting ones self
young maid: seeking spiritual maturity
spear: words that are spoken
fetus/baby: immature christian

Since your words are posted so openly here, I believe they apply to all who reads them.

I can only say "at least now if this dream should pop up again...I won't be afraid" of what I thought were my inner demons. I can sleep in His peace once again without fear! Amen! All of you here are so uplifting, even when I thought something was "way wrong with me", I am learning "that through all things, even in dreams, Our Lord doth speak!" I feel like a great burden has been lifted of my shoulders.

I actually was starting to think that "I was inherantly evil" and even though I have all of my life surrounded with Him in my eyes "I still thought, "well maybe I just am pretending to be a nice person of the Lords"....I should have known where that stupid "thought" came from, I can be so blind sometimes!

I will end here with one of my favorite praise songs. I Lift my eyes unto the Hills of Jerusalem from where my help is found....amen. May I always keep my thoughts captive and unto His bidding, in Jesus' name I pray, and that the enemy gets the heck off my back! Hannah, I have dreamed and monitored and analyzed dreams and serial dreams for many years. If a dream recurs regularly like this, it is because you are missing the message. There is only one method of interpretation in which I have confidence - prayer to the Lord! Daniel spoke truly when he said God reveals all things.

I would say a prayer like this: "Dear Lord, Creator of the heavens and everything in them, creator of the seas and everything in them, Creator of the earth and everything on it, I am praying to you and to no one else. Holy Father I thank you for giving your son for my salvation. I thank you for your great patience with my weaknesses and failures. Lord, I am greatly troubled by this dream. Because it recurs, I feel it must have meaning in my life. Father, please, this night, show me the dream again, in full, and explain it for me. Lord, please give me understanding in this! Father, please wake me in the night with full recollection of what you have shown me and full understanding. "

Don't be afraid even to ask to be awoke at a specific time. God can do all things, loves you, and provides for us to bring us comfort...

The world attempts to kill the faith in Christ we have, a young thing growing inside each of us. Who is the maid?

I will tell you the first thought that popped into my tiny pea brain..the maid is "The woman with twelve stars upon her head that is giving birth in the wilderness, and the "evil one wishes to kill what she is about to bring forth into the world". The second thing I thought was the Holy Spirit that indwells in each of us...thank you for allowing me to think and I had been praying about "interpreting dreams" as did Joseph.
