Full Version: Am I Missing Something?
Christian-Forum.net > General discussion > What do you say?

I feel like I’m going out of my skin. I am not sure if I need to prepare for the future and if I do, then how?
I read so many threads from so many wonderful people in this forum about dreams and signs and warnings but I haven’t received any.
Am I missing something?
Is my faith not strong enough?
Maybe there will be a rapture (I still not sure if I am pre-trib, post-trib or whatever trib 1dsz5f1.gif ) and I don’t have to worry because I will be rapture.
All I know is I thinking something is going to happen soon because all that I read and see and feel.
Also I worry about my wife and kids. I try to talk to my wife about what may happen but she doesn’t see or feel it.
What should I do? wacko.gif

BTW I feel God has really blessed this forum with such wonderful people. God bless you all and I hope to meet everyone in person when we all go home. 1dsz5e4.gif

I would not be worried about dreams or the lack there of. Scriptures makes it clear that different gifts are given to different people. So not having all the gifts is not a sign of lack of faith or measuring up. There are things that i would like to be able to do but as long as someone does it then the rest of the Body can be encouraged and uplifted. In the Past Daniel dreamed dreams and so did Joseph. God only needs one person to dream a dream doesn't He. smile.gif

1 Corinthians 12
4 There are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. 5 There are differences of ministries, but the same Lord. 6 And there are diversities of activities, but it is the same God who works all in all. 7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all: 8 for to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, to another the word of knowledge through the same Spirit, 9 to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healings by the same Spirit, 10 to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another different kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. 11 But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually as He wills.

Wisdom and Knowledge and faith as just as important as all the rest. And remember Faith Hope and Love, The greatest of these is Love and if we have Love for God and Others than We cannot loose. And if we do not have Love then no matter what other things we have they will profit us nothing in the end.

As the next chapter clearly shows:

1 Corinthians 13

The Greatest Gift
1 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal. 2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. 3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, but have not love, it profits me nothing.
4 Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; 5 does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; 6 does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; 7 bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
8 Love never fails. But whether there are prophecies, they will fail; whether there are tongues, they will cease; whether there is knowledge, it will vanish away. 9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part. 10 But when that which is perfect has come, then that which is in part will be done away.
11 When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish things. 12 For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall know just as I also am known.
13 And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.

Don't ever doubt your that your faith isn't strong enough because you don't have dreams or feelings on things. God gives all of his children gifts... it may be that you have the gift of music or maybe working with your hands... I don't know you, so I couldn't say, but the point I'm trying to convey is that whatever your "gifts" are, know that you do have them. They are all from God and if you use your gifts to honor Him then you're on the right path! Dont let doubt cloud your faith my brother. Keep praying and reading scripture. Trust that no matter what happens, God will provide for you and you will know what to do because of your faith in Him. rolleyes.gif

Blessings to you and your family,

Great post!!!

Tony, I was actually watching TBN; yeah I said ACTUALLY because I just do not trust a lot of the preachers on there. BUT; Charles Stanley had a great sermon on the gifts of the sprit and it was very eye-opening. It made so much sense about how God has a hand in anything and everything we do! Amazing sermon and I think there is some type of book about it; but the sermon was great! I like that preacher, because he is from the heart I feel and geniune and trustworthy. These days you really have to be very careful of who you listen too. I tell ya, I don't watch too many preachers on t.v......but HE is one of the few that I watch. Check into that one sermon if you can because it will really open you eyes up in relation to the gifts!

My gifts...like I said...I don't dream dreams that I can remember, I don't prophecy. But what I do I think is have a discerning of spirits and consulting souls, identifying with people and understanding those that are lost especially. That is my hope to help them most of all....I'd love to help our SHEPHERD reach the rest of the flock. It is in my heart and spirit that I must help others....I don't think I'm speaking for myself at all. I think I'm speaking for a lot of Christians. Christians can be the most compassionate and caring individuals that you would ever find. Why? Because we possess the Holy Spirit who guides us and gives us the ability to love and understand one another...............

It's simply amazing.....I see reckless souls and compassionate souls driving in traffic every morning. You know who is sincere and who is not.

GOD gives you that gift and what an amazing gift it is to understand one another and where they come from and why they act the way they do. Understanding people can be a very difficult thing to comprehend. God gives us the compassion and ablity to put ourselves into someone else's shoes......

THAT..is what makes you feel closer to GOD, not MAN.

Thanks Maz........

Tony,

I'm thinking with your wife that talking may not always get it. Perhaps SHOW her and SHARE with her what you have been experiencing and feeling. Pray about and and maybe she'll see too.

No need to worry.

God's got you!

You have Him.....

He sent you a protector,

the Holy Spirit.

There are angels that guard us.

So just keep praying and reading His Word. Peace will flood your soul!

We all get moments of doubt.

Just hang in there.

Don't worry about the gifts you don't have.

Trust me that there are gifts that you do have,

and God will reveal them to you in HIS Time.....

Keep the Faith! 1dsz5e4.gif and so do we! wub.gif

Dont fret!! Scripture has many lists of gifts. They weren't meant to be used as definitive categories. They were used by the Biblical authors to describe what kind of gifts are present for those to whom they write. So, catch the thrust, the spirit of what is said, through what is written, and then look at today for the same kinds of things, even if they aren't precisely mentioned in Scripture. Don't be surprised if you discover not only that they're there, but that some of them are not at all rare.

1 Corinthians 12:8-11 :
words of wisdom;
words of knowledge;
faith;
healing;
miracle-working;
prophecy;
distinguishing of spirits;
tongues;
interpretation of tongues.

1 Peter 4:11 :
prophecy as from a prophet (oracle-giver)
service, from strength given by God
Ephesians 4 : roles for people in the Church : apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, teachers; for equipping, building up, and maturation.

Romans 12 :
attitude re gifts; gifts of
service,
teaching,
exhortation,
giving,
leadership,
the showing of mercy.

Isaiah 11:1-5 :
verse 2 speaks of the various things that the Spirit of the LORD gives to those it rests upon : the spirit of :

wisdom (also James 1:5),
understanding,
counsel,
strength,
knowledge, and
the fear of the LORD.
According to the next two verses, also given unto such persons is a special force or effectiveness of words/communication (v.4b; see Rm 12 'exhortation'), and
a gift for being just to the oppressed in an unjust world (v.4a).
(When Paul spoke of how the warrior of God is dressed (Eph 6; 1 Th 5:8), and when he said that we walk by faith and not sight (2 Cor 5:7), he drew from this passage of Isaiah.)

I recently heard a teaching that examined what giftings you may have based on this set of scriptures (in case you ever had doubts).... It was on TV, some preacher, but not on TBN....

Let's say a person comes walking in a room with a tall cake.. The person trips and falls and the cake splatters everywhere.... You can get an idea of what gift you have by how you respond:

Giving: "Listen, here some money for your time and troubles and for a new cake"
Service: "Let me help you up" or (grabs cleaning supplies)
Leadership: "OK, you clean up the mess, you call the baker, I'll do this, you help
her up..."
Mercy: (sit down with them and "feel their pain")
Teaching: "This is how you prevent this from happening"
Exhortation: "It'll be alright...the cake isn't no big deal... thank you for your generosity"
Prophecy: "You fell down... I saw you were wearing high heel shoes...beware of those lumps in the floor"

Isn't great that we are all "part" of the body of Christ.....so many gifts to share with each other......4Him.....think about your handle....what a great handle.....there are so many gifts.....but I truly enjoy your posts or threads or whatever they are called I'm still a newbie tongue.gif ......we all minister to one another here.....you just don't know how much what you say affect s others and....help others. May God give you peace......you are right where God wants you...right at this time.....and he will finish what he has started in you.....hang in there....we all are just barely hanging on these day....and it is the Grace of God that give us the strength to keep on keeping on.... wub.gif marie
