Joh 6:20 But he saith unto them, It is I; be not afraid.
This word is with me and has been for days. I think what we are seeing is an incipient "manic" depression in our thought life. We are becoming like those of the world who have no hope. That is because we are setting our sight on those things which must surely come to pass in order that the word of God be fulfilled. But we need to know whose we are and whom we serve. Many afflictions are to the righteous, but many promises of deliverance also. Psa 34:19 Many [are] the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them all.
Job 22:29 When [men] are cast down, then thou shalt say, [There is] lifting up; and he shall save the humble person. Job 22:30 He shall deliver the island of the innocent: and it is delivered by the pureness of thine hands.
Back to my message of hope... (I am drawing sound bites of scripture from John 6 and from Mt 14)
BUT JESUS
Joh 6:15 When Jesus therefore perceived that they would come and take him by force, to make him a king, he departed again into a mountain himself alone. Joh 6:16 And when even was [now] come, his disciples went down unto the sea, Joh 6:17 And entered into a ship, and went over the sea toward Capernaum. And it was now dark, and Jesus was not come to them. Joh 6:18 And the sea arose by reason of a great wind that blew. Joh 6:19 So when they had rowed about five and twenty or thirty furlongs, they see Jesus walking on the sea, and drawing nigh unto the ship: and they were afraid. Joh 6:20 But he saith unto them, It is I; be not afraid. Joh 6:21 Then they willingly received him into the ship: and immediately the ship was at the land whither they went.
It is now dark, and Jesus has yet to come to us. The sea (humanity) is rising and a storm is brewing. A great evil wind is picking up the waves of the sea and making them like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. We have some rowing to do. The waves are going to be boistrous. But when we see the wind boisterous, and are afraid; and beginning to sink, we cry, saying, Lord, save us!. We will see Jesus coming on the waters of the sea and immediately Jesus will stretch forth his hand, and catch us, and say unto us, "O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt? " Those who wanted to make Him King by force were not of a full understanding. But soon we shall see Him come and be King by His will and pleasure. We have front row seats in all of this and what a wonderful day it shall be!!!
The ship is sinking, but we have a good word of prophecy...Act 27:24 Saying, Fear not, (Paul; your name here) thou must be brought before Caesar: and, lo, God hath given thee all them that sail with thee. Act 27:25 Wherefore, sirs, be of good cheer: for I believe God, that it shall be even as it was told me. Act 27:26 Howbeit we must be cast upon a certain island.
The island of Patmos...a place of exile...
Rev 1:9 I John, who also am your brother, and companion in tribulation, and in the kingdom and patience of Jesus Christ, was in the isle that is called Patmos, (the island of the innocent Job 22:30) for the word of God, and for the testimony of Jesus Christ.
We will follow this pattern...
