Hey Karen,

Yes please keep us informed of Tommy's surgery. He is in my prayers!!
lovingHIM
Thank you Marta and Selene. I will let ya all know as soon as I hear anything.

I know that today they did some more untra sound tests and everytning is on for his 12 hour surgery tomorrow. Things looked the same as they did when they checked him about 6 weeks ago to see if he was a candidate for this particular surgery. So that is good news in itself. It doesn't look to have spread during this time. Praise God!

Thank you so much for your prayers. I know our Father is hearing them. Thank you!
Miki
Could you let me know the exact time he had the surgery please.

Thanks

Sorry blush.gif

Eastern time zone. He is in Washington D.C. for the surgery.
lovingHIM
Miki, I have to ask....is there a reason why you asked the time? I have tried to dismiss the fact that you asked but I keep going back over it in my mind that you did ask and then asked the zone. Now I am very curious as to why you asked this. blush.gif

Not much of an update but my brother-in-law just got out of surgery. My mother-in-law just called and I missed the call. She just said that he had just gotten out and to call her later when she gets back to her hotel room. So when we talk with her I will let ya all know.

You said 12 hour surgery right? That is quite a while! Please do let us know how he is recovering.

Love ya,

Alright this is what I know. This could be subject to change because it is coming second hand from my father-in-law and my other brother-in-law who both spoke to my mother-in-law. o.k. rolleyes.gif

Apparently everything went as good as expected. They ended up removing his spleen and gallbladder, both were filled with cancer. His stomach had to be scrapped out also filled with cancer. And his colon had all the cancer cell removed also. They have inserted the chemo pack and will leave that in for abit. That is what I know as of now. I will let you know more after talking with my mother--in-law.
lovingHIM
Basically the info was correct. Tommy wont wake for a day or two, due to all the anestegia (sp?). If there is any more information I will pass it on.

Thank you all for your prayers. I am sure he could use some for his recovery.

Miki, the surgery took just under 10 hours . So they did start the surgery at 6:oo a.m. est

Yes PTL! Still keep us posted. They took my aunt's gallbladder out too, she had some spots on her liver where it spread. Pray that the got it all!! How long is his chemo?
lovingHIM
Marta,
He had been having Chemo since April of this year when they first found it. They said he was a stage 4 and there was nothing they could do for him but give him a little more time. He responded well to the chemo so his dr. put him in touch with this cancer specialist - suppose to be the 3rd best in the U.S. He had a chemo pack insterted into his colon I believe. They are just treating the area they believe it started in. So he will not be going for treatments anymore. I think they said it would work for about 3 years or so. I have to talk to my sister in law to get better information but that is what one of the family members had told us.

Oh wow....yes I remember you saying something about that. Short term memory loss here! Sounds like he has got the best doctors....amen for that! I'm going to look up more stuff on chemotherapy treatment online, I don't have much of a clue about it since my Aunt will be undergoing chemo soon. She had a shunt put in...chemo pack sounds very serious...stage 4...how many stages are there 5?

sad.gif
lovingHIM
Yes, stage 5 is the end. So he was very close to dying when they found out he had the cancer.

We found out after the cancer diagnosis that 5 years ago he had his appendex removed and that the report came back that he had stage 2 cancer in that organ. NO ONE TOLD HIM! It was in his file but his dr. never told him! Can you imagine?! The dr. had sinced died and that particular hospital he had the surgery done in closed down. His dr.'s here couldn't believe that neglect on the part of the dr.'s and hospital. He could have caught this at the stage 2 and started treatment then. If only someone had told him.

PLEASE PRAY FOR TOMMY!!

He has not fully come out from his surgery yet. He is still in ICU but when he did come to for a minute today he was complaining of not being able to breath well. Could be from being put under for so long. Please continue to pray for him. Thank you!

Here is what I have found out tonight. I have talked with my mother-in-law and sister-in-law myself tonight. This is what I found out.

Tommy had 3 large tumors outside of his stomach area that they removed. He had a layer around his chest that was like a layer of thick leather that was all cancer. They had to remove that. He had billions of tiny tumors in his stomach and colon. They had to remove those and 'sand blast' them off to remove any remaining cancer cells. The particular cancer he has is the most aggressive cancer there is. The dr. said if he had not had the surgery he would guess he would have made it only a couple more months. Having had the surgery he said his short term looks to be another 2 years and the long term maybe 5 years. The dr.'s hope is that within 2 years they will have found another treatment that will work better for him. Because they are coming out with new treatments weekly there is sure to be one that may attack this particular cancer better in the future.

I know the only hope is Jesus. If it is his will Tommy come to Him and heal him than it will be done.

He is breathing better tonight. They backed him down to 50% oxygen. He was given blood thinners and was itchy from some reaction to one of the pain killers. So the light itching he did on his legs made him start to bleed due to the blood thinners he was given.

But considering all he has been through my mother and sister in law are saying he is joking and telling my mother-in -law to leave. That is his normal self. His wife says he actually looks better now than before he had the surgery. So all in all he is doing well.

Thanks so much for the prayers. I know they are being answered smile.gif

Just got word that Tommy has pnemonia. He was not moved from ICU due to this. Please continue to keep him in your prayers. Thank you!

LovingHim,

I know this scenario too well. As you probably know that my Grandfather had a bad fall and fractured his skull and this was Nov 11 and he suffered some brain injury. During his stay at the hospital he devolped pneunoma. I have been told 4 times that my grandpa was in his last hours. He has fought 2 cases of pneumonia and he just recently developed his final case of pneumonia. This case will take his life away, his body is unable to fight anymore he is the strongest 82 year old man i know. He is at hospice and ready to part this world in peace.

I hope that the Lord gives Tommy strength. His youth will carry him through this I'm sure. I unfortunatley was not able to keep my Grandpa, but he gets to go home, and be with Jesus! Lucky him!

Dear Lord,

My prayer Lord is that if my grandfather's life can not be spared, then Lord I ask that you would spare Tommy's life. Lord he has so many more things to do and see give him strength and courage. Lord place your healing hands on Tommy, comfort him and erase his fears. Let him feel your Love. Comfort the hearts that might ache for him, dry the tears that might fall for him, and embrace the ones that might fear for his life. Lord you are almighty and have built me up as a strong tower so that i may endure my tribulations I give thanks. Lord Hear my cry, Heal that which you created!

In your name I pray

Amen

Just another update:

Tommy had been moved to a private room a couple days ago. He is in alot of pain. Had to be removed from his pain meds. He had a bad reaction on them and started to get affected mentally. They made him very agitaged, he started hearing and seeing things so he had to be pulled off of them. He still has tubes coming out of his stomach to help drain the fluid from the surgery. He has had a fever for a couple days now. They think they may have to go back into his stomach that he may have an infection from the surgery. He is not feeling well at all. He is in pain, fever, possible infection now...he really needs prayers. Most of all would you all agree with me in prayer that God would send someone into his path and Tommy would give his life to the Lord. I so want him to accept Jesus...he needs to! Thank you all.

Lord, I stand in the gap tonight, as I have read many of these pray requests!

(It's not about me, its about HIM. Are you broken for HIM?)

"He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not. Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him, stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and by his stripes we are healed." Isaiah 53: 3-5 (KJV)

" He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth. He was taken from prison and judgement: and who shall declare his generation? for he was cut out of the land of the living: for transgression of my people was he stricken. And he made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death; because he had done no violence, neither was there any deceit in his mouth. Yet it pleased the Lord to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed,he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the Lord shall prosper in his hand. He shall see the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied:by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities. Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bear the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors." Isaiah 53: 7-12 (KJV)

Lord, you know my heart, and you have given me so much! I thank you for all that you have done so far this day, I ask you to touch Tommy. Heal his body. Give a miracle to him. Show him that you are the real deal! Save Him and bring him into your kingdom, through Jesus, your Son. Show him that healing and salvation come from You alone. Give him the strentgh to continue living. Help him to Live for Your Name's sake, Jesus. Make him to be a light to others, as you are my light, my buckler, my shield, my comforter. Be with this family, and give them this miracle, in Jesus, Name. amen.
