I have toured this shrine. It is an evident token to the French Catholic martyrs to the Huron Indians in the earliest years of Upper Canada.

Many say that the catholics have it wrong. I tend to base my thought in that direction. But in honesty I have to say that the things they do mystify. I have seen this shrine and it is as Catholic as Catholic gets. They have all the candles burning and people who come in pay a token fee to light one in memory of the saints (departed saints) and for their sick loved ones etc.

The thing is, there are hundreds of crutches and a few wheel chairs in the church auditorium. They were left there by folks who got healed. There are a few wheelchairs also.

From being healed of cancer to any other form of healing, our Father can do that. Is it real? Were they placed there by design? I can not know...but I know our Father heals and I thank Him for all He has done whether I have seen it or not.

It would be real. I think what I am getting at is how there seems to be an entrance into the spirit of Christ even when there are beliefs which tatter the pages of our own theology book. Like those newpaper thingys (next to the obits) that give thanks to saint whojock for petitions granted. Pray to a saint get an answer and give thanks openly. Mystifies my theology. Always has.

I have come to the realization where you know something but it finally "sinks in" that god is independent of our prayers. We think, I pray and it happens and we think, God did what I asked.

I don't think that is what happens at all. We ask, God, already knowing the needs, hears and makes a decission of His own. Just a little difference make alot of difference. He is so independant of us yet wants us close to Him because He wants it.

Why do people who seem not to love god do so well....why are there so many people of faiths that seem not to be "of God" doing marvelous works. ALL good things come from the Father...

I know God uses everything He needs and wants to use to the ends that He needs and wants.

Maybe it is not so much that they are doing odd things, but that there is something the Father needed out of it that we don't understand.

I don't do good to get blessings, and I don't think much of the blessing that people get when they aren't doing what God says to do.

Maybe it is just that He sees the heart and the faith, seperate from all those things.

This reply seemed more circular than linear until I appled the quick fix that all is according to His will and that if our will is in tune with His will then presto we have the answer. That blows my theology out of the water to the degree that I have been taught that I need to apply faith in a certain word or in the person of Christ or whatever, and anything less is rabbit out of the hat theology.

But faith is scripturally defined as the substance of things hoped for. That thing which comes in a box so small that a grain of mustard seed is enough to move mountains.

I teach 3rd and 4th grade sunday school and we are taking the old testament linealy. This week we got to Jacob adn how he received the blessing and why.

Little kids are pretty smart. Question: why would God allow a trickster to gain control of the blessing? And I prayed real fast the "on your feet prayer" of a teacher and I came to me. The old saying God can use junk to make something really special. Good thing, huh?

And then more. I thought, where di the first born rule come from anyway, God or man? Maybe God didn't want it that way and had to fight our laws to get things back to the way they were supposed to be. Maybe we make rules and laws that force God to do things to make us do the right thing. They weren't His rules; We did it to ourselves. Maybe He knew from the beginning that He was going to have to put Jacob down there at that time, knowing his mentality and his mother's so that things would be set right from how WE mess it up with our rules.

Maybe He is just using the only things we gave Him to use.
