Dear Brethren,

I woke up from a dream recently; not quite remembering the details (I have been a bit distracted lately by work load!). In the trance like state of getting fully awake, I had a little conversation with the Holy Spirit (I do that from time to time).

I asked the Holy Spirit - “what’s the dream about?” and received a short response “netted disobedience”. I asked a second question - “what is netted disobedience?” and the Holy Spirit asked me a question in response – “what do you think it is?” I was like umh- umh- umh, and I became fully awake. I have been meditating on what it could mean for some days now.

Netted Disobedience!!!

Of course we know how God views disobedience (Deut. 28; Lev. 26; 1Kg.13; Eph 2:2 & 5:6; Col.3:6; --- 1:16; Heb 2:2). We also know the concept of netting in the sense of fishing, sports, gain etc.

1. To net disobedience is to bring it under captivity. It is to pursue actions and create an environment that incapacitates disobedience. It is to make disobedience your prisoner. The net of captivity has a controlled opening which is a trap door noose. In this respect, captivity can be from above or from below. Above where you have left God (i.e. exalted yourself above God) and below where God has left you (i.e. polluted yourself out of God’s will). In either instance, Jesus is missing in your life and “self” is king over your life. Netted disobedience as a captive is to live in obedience.

2. To net disobedience is to gain disobedience as a score. It is to pursue actions and create an environment that yields disobedience. It is to give disobedience free reign in your life. The net of scoring is open ended and scoring is by way of a free fall, usually from the top. Netted disobedience as a score is to live in disobedience.

All netting requires a calculated course of action. What kind of netting are you involved in?

Love of Christ.

Eph 4:8 Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men.

We are all captive to one God or to the other god. No man can serve two masters. I see an implied wilful disobedience here, and with all my cranial obscurity, have felt I come short in understanding that which you present because on one line you say "To net disobedience is to bring it under captivity" and on the other you say "To net disobedience is to gain disobedience as a score."

I woud see "netted disobedience" as bringing under captivity that disobedience and being afterwards free from that disobedience and able to escape further incursions of the same.

A net is a containment device. It can be sunk to a depth and dragged along to entrap anything in it's path. Jesus said to let down the net. There was a draught of fishes for that obedience. Are we fishing? Or are we cutting bait? smile.gif

Yes, no man can serve two masters and we are all captive to either the one true God or some false god.

You largely have the sense of what I am saying. Although I speak paradoxically and in parable, that is how it came to me. God expects us to net disobedience as a captive i.e. to live in obedience; but then the other netting as described also exist.

It is correct to see the implied willful disobedience; for that is what some of us are involved in. That is what netting as a score amounts to. It is to take actions knowing we are in disobedience but heading on willfully and letting disobedience run rampant in our lives. As the analogy implies, by the time we score, it is usually a free fall from the top.

Let him who has ears hear. What kind of netting are we involved in?

That was a little confusing but to score a point in disobediance shouldn't be a game anyway. The enemy draws us ringside to engage with him...No wood no fire. Resist the enemy and he will flee from you. Hard though isn't it. My mind has raged all morning. I can't get it captive........ blink.gif sad.gif blush.gif

To sin or not to sin, that is the question?

Obedience or willfull disobedience...is that what you are asking?

Are your blanketly asking for "confession" on this thread? I am confused as to what this one is asking as far as responses.

Are we calling for repentence?

Disobedience in this sense is the score itself. The score of disobedience used here is as a reward for deliberate willful actions that create an environment that lead to going out of God's will and acting in "self" mode.

I agree, it should not be a game; but it could be, if one is in league with the father of disobedience - the devil. Hence, yes, we should resist the devil so he will flee from us.

I pray your mind stops raging so you can have some peace.

Love of Christ.
