My name is Hitomi Wilde. I am from Okinawa Japan. I married American soldier in l973. We have 4 children: Jina (27), Ben (25), Peter (18) and Abigail (15). We have been living in the states on and off since we got married.

I was very interested in Christianity but I decided to stay away from it because I witnessed so many unkind and ungodly Churchgoers everywhere we went. My husband’s family were all churchgoers but they did not show much Godly living in their lives. (I do not mean to be rude or negative; I am only being truthful.)

Yes, I had miserable marriage from the start. I will skip the details because it is so typical and boring for anyone else.

Our problems were so miserable for such long time, I finally went into a deep depression. I asked for help through counselors, friends and pastors. I was never happy with their advice.

I finally turned to God because I had nowhere else to go. Praise the Lord!

Then my spiritual life began. I tried very hard because I wanted see what it would be like to be a Christian. I was in a hurry to be a real Christian. I listened to many well meaning Christians’ and pastors’ advice. But I was so confused and frustrated. Their advice made me more frustrated so I stopped listening to them and started to read the New Testament everyday. And I strive to be obedient to His and His disciples’ teaching.

After a year or so I started feeling the result of what I have been doing. I started praising God every day. He taught me to be kind to everyone; He taught me to be generous for the Lord’s work; He taught me to be patient (I am still working very hard on that, but I am making some progress) and most of all He gave a joy which I never knew existed.

However I still had the same problems with my husband. But He gave me wisdom to handle the situation. I told him that we cannot raise our children with two directions. It has to be one way (God’s way). He did not want to change his lifestyle to the Christian way so we decided to separate. Fortunately, Peter and Abigail were old enough to choose which parent to live with. They decided to live with me (praise the Lord). Peter and Abigail have been learning to be Christians and they liked it and they chose to be Christians too; Praise the Lord!.

Meanwhile, Jina had rough teenage years and continually had troubles. And she too could not take it any more after having a baby. She asked me for help; praise the Lord! I invited her to live with us and told her that because we are Christians now we have different house rules which she has to obey too.
She has known my new Christian life and I encouraged her to follow Him with all of her heart. She accepted it; praise the Lord!

My son Ben also got into trouble in his life. His new wife committed adultery. They have been married less than a year. They are both uncommitted Christians. He could not take the pain anymore and came to me for advice; praise the Lord. I told him that without following Jesus’ teaching, there is no peace in the family. He thought that that makes sense and decided to take counseling from me once a week; praise the Lord! He told me that his pain started to go away since he started reading the New Testament which I told him to do daily; praise the Lord.

Now we have only my husband left behind. We are praying for him every day. (I hope you guys pray for him too).

Gingercat, I LOVE your testimony! I can tell by your writting that you are so in Love with the Lord!! Praise God for your example as to leading your children along with you! God is so good! I am so glad that you were able to find help from your depressions from the Lord. He is the only way. I know, I had them too. And praise His name, he delivered me, sustained me me thru it all and brought me over and out of it. He is wonderful! So glad you are with us! I will pray for your husband to follow as all your children have. I don't think he has a choice
