Hello all:

I thought I would start an introduction thread since there have been so many new people! It has been exciting seeing this discussion board grow and listening and learning from every new person on here!

It seems a lot of times so many people check out the board, but don't join or post? I feel that we should get to know each other and learn from one another! Whaddya say? huh.gif

So....I'll start, I am 31, female, divorced, born in Texas and currently live in Indianapolis.

You? cool.gif
Tracy
What a fun idea Marta, nice to "meet" you!

I'm 45, loved the Lord all my life but got "saved" when I was 12.

I'm happily married 9 years now to a big guy named Jim who loves God and is a great provider. We live in New Mexico with 3 labradors and 4 cats.

We attend Chruch at Gospel Light Baptist Church (Independent).

We don't work except 3-4 months out of the year doing a seasonal retail business. While that may sound fun, it's a grueling time of year. (You probably won't "see" me on the net then.)

I love studying the Bible, doing volunteer work, keeping house, and most recently, "meeting" the kind contributors of Christian-Forum.net biggrin.gif

Anyone else?
angelheart424
This is so wonderful, I am Helen, I am 43 and am unmarried, I live with my daughter and her family in Pocahontas, AR...

May God's love abound in you all...

Nathan
I'm one of the new guys. smile.gif

My name is Nathan (as you could probably tell from my screenname), I am 24 years old, attending Blinn College in Bryan, Texas.

I'm hoping to transfer into A&M in the Spring... but we'll see how that goes. smile.gif

When I'm in Austin, I go to Redeemer Presbyterian Church, and when I'm in Bryan/College Station I go to Westminster Presbyterian Church (which is where I'm a member)

I grew up Baptist, then swiched denominations about 3 years ago.

After high school I joined the Marine Corps and was happily discharged 3 1/2 years later due to medical issues.

(I think that just about covers the basics)

It's nice to "meet" all of ya'll.

- Nathan.
Marta
Nice to meet you Tracy, Nathan and Angelheart! biggrin.gif

May God continue to encourage and strengthen us all in this forum. I posted this thread because I thought it would be nicer if we knew each other a little better so we can become even tighter in our fellowship.

Nathan, I'm a native Texan too! DFW area!!!

Welcome ya'll! tongue.gif

I too, am new. Was involved with a wonderful study group that crashed without recovery, and after opening more than50 BB's. Well, needless to say, when I saw people actually doing the searching to see if a thing is so here, I had to stop and see if there was room for one more. It is a wonderful thing to see folksof ready mind. Me, I am new, yet earnest Bible student of aprox 2 years, and learning how to love the Lord by digging into His word wherein He has revealed Himself to us all who will. I have no background religiously speaking, and it looks as if I missed out on many trappings I now see as the traditions of men in "Public Worship" so called. But I am so happy to have found my need to seek to know Him.

I want to take this time to share with everyone a tool I use when studying. This tool has helped me learn alot fast. Namely, how to study. This and a good Concordance. I still have to do the work, of course. The Companion Bible provides details on most every verse. Here is an example. I want to say so much more, hopefully soon nevertheless. Agape. Enjoy this little study, its a good one:

Notes on Philippians 1:10.
These Notes Are From The Companion Bible.

Philippians 1:10.

10. °That ye may approve things that °are excellent °that ye may be °sincere and °without offense °till the °day of °Christ;

That ye may, etc. = To (Appendix 104. vi) your proving, or trying.

are excellent = differ. We are to test things, and having found them to differ, must not join them together, but rightly divide them (2 Timothy 2:15).

that. Greek hina. Generally denoting a purpose, but here only the subject of the prayer.

sincere. Greek eilikrines. Only here and 2 Peter 3:1. Compare 1 Corinthians 5:8.

without offence. Greek aproskopos. See Acts 24:16.

till. Appendix 104. vi.

day of Christ. The same expression in 2:16. Verse 6 = complete. Greek epiteleo. Appendix 125. 3. See Luke 13:32 and 1 Corinthians 1:8; 5:5 and 2 Corinthians 1: 14. 2 Thessalonians 2:2, where see note.

Christ. Appendix 98. IX.

Return to Appendix 112.

As I read your comments, I feel the warmth of your spirits, which can only come from those who know the Lord in an intimate way.

I am a retired public school teacher. Married 35 years to first wife. Two children, both married. One grand baby. Three months old. Very special.

My wife and I live high in the mountains of western North Carolina where the weather is cool (most of the time.) We are surrounded by many, many miles of lush green forest. This area is sometimes refered to as a rain forest. Our closest neighbor is one quarter mile from us. A very quiet and peaceful place.

I know we are living in the end times, and watch daily as prophecy unfolds in our world today.

Hi! I just copied the following from my web site so it reads rather dryly. blink.gif

Dean Thomas Coombs

Born Dec. 28, 1962, Mt Sinai Hospital, Toronto, Canada.

With much conviction, 'born-again' spr. of 1974.

Bachelors of Theology from Eastern Pentecostal Bible College, (Peterborough, Ontario), (1980-85).

One more year at Tyndale Seminary of Toronto, (formerly O.T.S.), (1985-86).

Married, (May. 31, 1986).

Another full year spent studying on my own, (1986-87).

Calling by God: His Word begins to leap open as never before, (March 21-28, 1987).

Leave Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada in pursuit of holiness, (late spr. of 1987).

Daughter Sarah born, (May 25, 1988).

Get mixed up in totalitarian 'church' for two years, splits up my family, (1987-89).

Dramatically delivered! God restores all things, and am the wiser for it! (Apr. 1989.)

Help pastor small church, (1989-1991).

Acting on conscience, I begin to meet simply in house churches---a return to simplicity; (and its been a wonderful adventure ever since!)

My son, Joshua, is born April 2, 1990.

Our church holds 40-day fast, (one meal missed a day). I pray for revelation like Daniel; 215 days after the start of the fast the revelation into the meaning of the bible numbers begins, (Oct. 22, 1991).
(This study last a full 7 years, averaging 40-60 hours a week under a constant heavy anointing.)

The codes came some years later.

We are self supported. My wife and I clean houses for a living, and we home-school our two children.

Welcome oh Goth girl! I'm sure you will be contributing to some interesting conversations.

hi dineice.

i read the site you linked.
i think i like that "goths" are thinkers and not afraid to discuss things.
i feel sad for those that feel rejected by the 'norms' of this world.
but i hate this world, and the way it is now, too.
and so i know what that feels like.
Jesus always served first, those whom 'society' rejected as
outcast...he was ridiculed for this.

but i say, welcome! you must be here for a reason....
i feel compassion for the young who see this world...
who had to grow up in this world.
i feel anger about the world they have to grow up in.
and i know you see the corruption.
and i know you see the hypocrisy.

Jesus saw it too.
and Jesus still speaks. Do you read scripture? Do you read the bible?
love,
bz

I really appreciate everyone's comments. I love you guys already. smile.gif

I do feel like I am here for a reason; a strange gut feeling. I wonder what it could be?

I'm very excited. I seriously love my God and those who follow, regected or not.

I'm not Catholic. LOL I'm Protestant... I think. O_o
blindzebra
hi again... i protest 'religion' too!
does that make me 'protestant'? LOL

but i do not follow a 'religion'. but what is true worship?
"to look after orphans, and widows in their tribulation, and to keep oneself without spot from the world."
but i do my best to 'follow the Leader'.
just like the kids game we all played.

The Leader is the Head of the body...
the Head of the body is Jesus.

the Father is looking for the ones that are seeking him..
Indeed it is He that is seeking.
and it is He that is finding.
not one lost sheep will be missing.
not a single one will be lost.

for not even a small sparrow falls to the ground,
without his notice.
He cares very deeply for his children.
His love is an everlasting love,
like a fire that cannot be quenched.
(song of solomon 8:6,7)

many rivers will attempt to wash away love.
the devil will release "a river of water out of his mouth" in order to drown the woman. but he will not succeed. --Revelation 12:15-17.

love,
bz

A few posts were put in here by me before I came in here to introduc meself. As yall can see my name is Gregg, I am 45, unmarried, living in Enterprise, Alabama. I have 2 degrees from 2 different colleges and have been active in the community as far as healthcare and police. The reason I came here is because of a book I was introduced to called 'The Bible Code II' and the fact that my name in Greek means watchman. Twewnty-seven years ago I was involved in a one car accident that left me in a coma for 6 months and it is amazing how fast time has gone by and how much I have been able to do. There is a reason I was brought to this time and I thank God he chose me to be here. Please, in my zeal to inform and learn, do not cut me off because you think I am trying to cause division or chaos. smile.gif

Hey, welcome, Gregg. Glad you stopped by.

Hello Gregg,

Welcome aboard, and looks like you have not fufilled your purpose as you have made it through your coma. Amazing and I couldn't imagine the hardship that you went through. Glad you are here and looking forward to some interesting insight from you.....watchman! wink.gif

Blindice,

Glad to see you here....whatever you felt brought you here to this watering hole as whosever put it, was meant to be. It is what brought me here too. You don't have to conform to the norm so to speak....it is good to be different as that is what makes the world interesting. If we were all the same religious nuts what fun would that be eh??? cool.gif But I consider myself a spirtual nut.....I guess a doomsdayer watcher.....but, I hate labels. Anyways, looking forward to hearing your insight as well. smile.gif

PS...I see you have a great talent that God has blessed you with. If there was one thing I could do, it would be to be a great painter. Hmm, I don't have much inititive to start something like that up, but the artistic world is very therapeutic isn't it!! wink.gif

My Penticostal grandmother plucked me from parents both Athiest and Rosicrucian (I can't even spell it), God graced me by surrounding me with every religion to glean the best from each, and then set me in the bible belt to grow to maturity. Everyone here is wonderful and God fearing, but they are uncomfortable with the extraordinary that our God presents to me daily. Thank you for this outlet. Leianne White Dove (Cherokee memeber).

Ok, I thought it would be nice, after my heated entry onto this forum to explain a bit about me.
I live in sunny old Devon wink.gif in the UK. I once was a Christian, I found faith while at a Christian camp in Tintagel. But, soon after becoming a Christian I began to feel that this religion is as full of lies, opinions and arrogance as the rest of the world, so I renounced my faith in Christianity. I feel I then found out more about God, faith, and who I am after I had done this, I tried to listen to all sides of the argument, and continued to go to camp for quite a few years after. But I always felt that I could learn more, both mentally and spiritually, if I was not a Christian, and I found that I did learn more.
I have many reasons for the way I am, and I don't hate Christians as everyone has a right to choose who they want to be, and even the most arrogant or stupid of people can still have a good heart and can still teach you things.
I do believe in God, all though I am reluctant to call it that because people tend to have preconceived ideas about what God is, but I do not believe that the bible is his word or that Jesus was his son.
Anyway, quick story over and from now on I will try to be a bit more civilised smile.gif

Is Jesus a manefestation of God?

One of THE MOST powerful verses in the Bible:

"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being ... And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth." (John 1:1-3, 14)

I do feel like I am here for a reason; a strange gut feeling. I wonder what it could be?

I'm very excited. I seriously love my God and those who follow, regected or not.

I'm not Catholic. LOL I'm Protestant... I think. O_o

Blindice:

Hello. Me, I'm more on the Mennonite side. Perhaps you could begin by assisting me. I have been teaching a youth group on Wednesdays in my little town and they have asked me how to "reach" the Goths in school. After they explained to me what Goth is (I kinda got the Gothic part from the word Gothic, but they filled in the gaps) I told them I'd have to pray about that. My youth insisted that these individuals are not be interested in attending regular services. Is that correct or an assumption? If you were to reach those of like culture who are unchurched, how would you begin? The Apostle Paul usually met people on their own ground, but I have to confess I know very little about what would offend them and what wouldn't. We are as diverse as Daniel and Darius. Give me a hint, and if it would help, I own a dairy farm and distribute absolutely the best ice cream. Are such socials out of their relm of possiblities? Leia

Not sure, curious where you are located in the U.K. Also, hey....where did you find that pic??????
Sriontoc
Devon, which is in the S.W.
That pic came from a screenshot of futurama, a animation made by the same person that did Simpsons. His name is Mr Hue Man smile.gif

Alrighty, thanks! So, what do you really want to know or learn on here? What brought you to this forum? You said you beleive in God or a Creator, but you do not believe in His Son nor the Word of God. How much of the Bible have you read? I'm still reading, trust me!!!!! blush.gif
Sriontoc
I didn't actually come here to learn anything, its actually quite weird, I got an e-mail from this site and they referred to me as sriontoc which is the name I usually use for forums but I could not remember signing up? So I logged in and just started posting random stuff smile.gif
But I don't so much not believe in the bible or Jesus, I believe that Jesus was just a good man and that the bible once held a good but earthly message and has been defiled by Christianity, I could start on my reason for this but now is not the time or place.
I haven't read as much of the bible as I would have liked, only most of the first bit I forget which book that is. I also kept a notebook with me to write down things I wanted to question and come back to later, I must admit I was a bit disheartened when, if I remember rightly, it referred to the moon as a star? But I do wish to read more.

I'm still not lisening, so it didn't work tongue.gif

SO WHY ARE YOU STILL ON THE FORUM WITH CHRISTAINS UNLESS YOU ARE FEELING GOD!
I FEEL LIKE YOU ARE ANGRY AT THE WORLD. WHY?
YET, YOU WILL LAUGH WHEN YOU READ THE POST BUT DEEP DOWN YOU ARE ANGRY. SO ATTACK IS ALL YOU KNOW HOW TO DO AT THIS TIME.
YOU HAVE TO SEARCH FOR YOURSELF, AND WE CANT SEARCH FOR YOU.
I WILL NOT ARGUE WITH YOU, I HAVE BETTER THINGS TO DO IN MY DAY BUT THINK WHY ARE YOU SO ANGRY AT GOD. WHAT DO YOU THINK HE DID TO YOU.
BECAUSE YOU ARE STILL ON THE FORUM TELLS ME YOU WANT WHAT WE HAVE BUT YOU ARE TO ANGRY TO ACCEPT.
HAVE YOU THOUGHT OF HOW YOU GOT YOUR E-MAIL. SOME ONE CARES FO R YOU.
KIM
Sriontoc
yes I am angry at the world, all the greed, arrogant, exploitation, I am very angry with the people of the world.
but you are wrong with one thing. I am not angry with God, it is our fault the way we are, however in the Christian faith you hold God responsible for the way we are, and for me to do that would mean I hate God, and I'm not willing to do that.
I can't really explain why I'm still here...... I guess I just like to argue smile.gif
kim48
WHY DO YOU LIKE TO ARGUE?
DO YOU THINK MAYBE YOU NEED THE ATTENTION?
KIM
Sriontoc
as do the rest of us, you speak as if needing attention is a bad thing...... oh no wait, you speak about attention as a way to rationalize the things I say rather than try and explain them. of course the reason I like to argue can't be because I hate arrogant and I feel in some way, arguing helps to cut that out. just avoid my statement and blame what I say on me being mentally unstable...... yea thats the ticket!?
kim48
I HOPE YOU HAVE A GOOD DAY.
I KNOW IT HELPS YOU TO HAVE THE LAST WORD AND THATS O.K BECAUSE I USE TO BE THE SAME WAY. MY GRANDMOTHER WOULD SAY I WOULD ARGUE WITH A SIGN POST.

KIM

God is not responsible for this wickedness in this world.
..although He has/will have a response to it..
and he too is angry wiht the greed, the corruption, the arrogance, and the exploitation.

and i agree with you that i will not blame God for it.
nor am i willing to do that.

and more than all else, I HATE how he is misrepresented by those that call themselves "christian". and how these exploit the precious sheep, tearing off their hooves. skinning them alive.

i hate those things that God hates.

and i hate them with a passion.

for finally, we agree on a matter.

and you are here because you are where you are.

now....

are you ready to take OFF those silly looking oven mits?
they do not make for very effective boxing gloves.

and i cannot explain, nor get past, this deep feeling of compassion for you! i hurt inside for the pain i see you are in!
and i am divided! there is conflict in my heart over you!

bz
Sriontoc
But do you not see what I see. That by saying God does miracles, that he helps people, means that he can help those more in need but choose not to, he created both situations as he is guiding everything and choose which evils are helped and which are not. And so is he not to blame for them? He made them, he can help them, but his will is not to do so, so is he not at least part to blame? or at least he has broken our free will?
