eph 4:

5One Lord, one faith, one baptism,

False religon today has gotten it all wrong. They teach that the One baptism here in our text is water baptism, some spiritual baptism as that in the acts..The reference in acts as to being baptized with the Holy Ghost is important, but the most important baptism is that which the elect recieve when one with Jesus christ when he himself was baptized with death..

I am referring to this :

matt 20:

23And he saith unto them, Ye shall drink indeed of my cup, and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with: but to sit on my right hand, and on my left, is not mine to give, but it shall be given to them for whom it is prepared of my Father.

Jesus is referring to the same blessed truth paul writes about in rom 6:

3Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?

4Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
5For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection: 6Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.

Notice rom 6 4

4Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. cp matt 20:

23And he saith unto them, Ye shall drink indeed of my cup, and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with:

Amen what we have here is the Federal union That the elect had with their federal head, as a result of having been chosen with him and in him before the world began..

In fact, the elect also was baptized with adam into death by the same Federal union we sustained with him naturally..

In that when he died, we the elect died with him too..rom 5:

12Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:

And likewise, we died in christ when he died 2 cor 5:

14For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead:
15And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again.

Oh but the difference is this, once we died in adam, in our federal head, there was no hope of new life and resurrection..because being under the covenant of creation and law, there is no repentance granted, but only death..

however our death[ baptism with him] in christ, and his subsequent resurrection, this ensures a new lilfe of covnenat relationship with The Triune God..

rom 6:

5For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:

6Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.
7For he that is dead is freed from sin. 8Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him:

the same blessed truth is taught in 2 cor 5:

15And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again.

So this is the one baptism to have, being in the one lord, and having the one faith..

and we have this one baptism, by having been chosen in christ before the world began..
