IN chapter 17 of john, we see that john charted down to this prayer done by Jesus.

"John 17:20-23, "My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be as one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me. I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one: I in them and you in me. May they be brought to complete unity to let the world know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me."

Now the question is this. Where was john when this prayer being made?

Did John write this book and if he did, how did he knows that Jesus made this prayer with this very same message?

Any tips on how to understand this with bible verses is appreciated thanks. Any informations given will be relay back to the person who asked such questioning as a trivia thank you.

With this types of question, I am suspecting that the person asking is confused about this prayer done by Jesus. I dont' know which book shows this but it shows that when Jesus done a prayer, he was alone while the rest of them disciples were sleeping (pre drama before judas and goonies took jesus away). If this is indeed true then how can John be awake to hear such prayers done by Jesus?
