Full Version: Prayer For My Son

Please pray for my son Joshua who has dramatically recommitted his life to the Lord a month and a half ago after falling away from the Lord. He is 18 years of age and is now zealous for God and doing exploits in His name that are quite amazing, such as asking for a bank manager by name and witnessing to them without ever having set foot in the bank before, nor even knowing their name. (God showed him her name a few weeks beforehand directly.)

Then last night we were visiting a supposed friend who after hearing his testimony and the above story in detail suddenly (and to my wife's utter shock) told my whole family to leave his house. Evidently, he has trouble grasping the grace of God --- that is, how God could use someone imperfect like my family and my son. He is a legalist, but part of my church. Ironically, I told my son earlier in the day to start going to church somewhere else because of the legalism in our church. Now I think I too will leave!

So please pray!

Satan is trying to steal, kill, and destroy the new work of God in His life by using pharisaical christians to smother his faith and place him in the bondage that they themselves are under.

QUOTE
Ohhhhh!!! how I love Jesus!!! smile.gif

There is a name I love to hear,
I love to sing its worth;
It sounds like music in my ear,
The sweetest name on earth.

O how I love Jesus,
Oh, how I love Jesus,
Oh, how I love Jesus,
Because He first loved me.

It tells me of a Savior's love,
Who died to set me free;
It tells me of His precious blood,
The sinner's perfect plea.

It tells me what my Father has
In store for ev'ry day;
And though I tread a darksome path,
Yields sunshine all the way.

It tells of One whose loving heart
Can feel my deepest woe,
Who in each sorrow bears a part,
That none can bear below.

O how I love Jesus,
Oh, how I love Jesus,
Oh, how I love Jesus,
Because He first loved me.

My Pastors lost son has recently come back to the Lord...Nearly all have received him...But the path has been real tough.

Your son will find strength in this.

Some of our biggest critics will be those of our own who in Jesus's time were the scribes and pharisees. I know the end times are upon us but it is christians that discourage and disbelive me when I get excited about the things on this forum, RITA and five doves and want to share it. I was roundly rebuked for sharing about the psalms lining up with our years. I get so excited about the Lord coming but they don't want to hear but just want to go about their orderly planned out schedule. Neither hot nor cold but lukewarm!! Yes I would look for another church a spirit filled one!!

Yes... exactly correct about Satan trying to extinguish the work of God

Christians?... by name only. True believers would encourage your son, and thank the Lord for him. What Godly motivation was required for him to go into that bank and speak to the manager without knowing her! Very exciting to watch the Holy Spirit move in that way!

Interesting situation at your friend's house, too. Seems God wants you all out of that church.

Praying that your son will stand strong and continue in his zeal to do God's work.

I will be in prayer for Joshua. It is wonderful to see the Holy Spirit at work in our youth of today. The workings of the Holy Spirit. Graceful living and legalistic thinking are in direct conflict with one another. Why is it that so many people can't understand that we can't earn salvation?

Gods Blessings,

Al
Dani
wow

of course I'll pray... though I think God has your son and this particular situation all under control.

Would be interesting if the Lord would keep you at that church (it's a home church, yes?)

I do understand the need to leave. We just left our church (not a home church) - well we are only one Sunday from having done so. This thanksgiving Sunday will be our 2nd Sunday from having left.

The Lord has been showing me since the day I stepped in to it - that the Spirit was being quenched... and many times I thought about your post / actually maybe on your web page that mentions that we don't know if the Spirit is coming or going. But that Sunday Nov 16 - the Spirit was leaving that church - that very day.

Just in the past 7 months or so - the Lord has taken me thru all the 7 churches of Revelation - and shown me specifically which parts applied to the church I just left.... There are some there who are/were Philadelphians, and some who are Smyrnians... persecuted. But whew... this church has lost the first Love, doesn't eradicate falseness but instead has will teach falseness, the Sr Pastor holds to doctrines of Balaam and Nicolaitains, likes to read litanies (starnge for a baptist church), has jezebel's that want to control and to whom the Sr Pastor listens, is NOT watching, and they think they are rich and have a good place in society, that they do a good work.

I do not know why the Lord had us there. He never let me join that church (officially). He always said "no". So, I was always somewhat on the outside. I knew I was there for a reason - and still don't really know it. In the beginning I thought it was just to witness (watch) the Holy Spirit leaving. I've prayed much for this church... which I suppose was why signet's beached whale dream reminded me of it. We were right in the thick of it last week.

IF the Lord does have you stay at your church, analytically, I see it being because of the great witness of God's loving kindness toward the children of men -that your son now is.

Sorry if I have offended in any way - I'm still working thru understanding much myself.

Dani

oh I must share our first experience of attending a new chruch... (4 days ago)

we went to this little chruch - about 50 people. This church - I don't know how it fits into the 7 churches yet... but they have a GREAT LOVE for Israel. The pastor is 30 years retired from the military, and lives off that income, and doesn't take much from this little church in finances, but does manage to visit Israel every year. Well,,, this last sunday, their youth minister (I only saw about 12 kids under 18), was doing the introduction at the pulpit. They were greeting each other when we walked in... and afterwards he commented that perhaps the church should have about 3 more greeting periods - and maybe more visitors would come walking in. Then he shared a story - a testimony! of the night before.

They had held something of a youth rally - 3 small churches got together to have it. and at the end of it - in the sanctuary, the youth pastor decided to not have a normal kind of alter call... but instead just had kids come up who wanted to pray for someone... but there was this one boy who had caught the youth ministers eye - for a good 3 minutes. He went over to him (privately - not like in front of everyone) and asked him if he believed in Jesus - what he thinks of Jesus. The boy said "I'm Jewish!" The youth minister felt that taking him to the front of the church wouldn't work so they headed to the back of the chruch to a stairwell (to the basement) and sat on the stairs.

The youth minister testified that he didn't understand this love for Israel that this church has - til this very night. And somehow - so much that has been talked about (in church) was able to be used by the Holy Spirit - to come out of the youth minister. (I don't know what all they talked about - but the youth minister KNEW that there was no way he could talk scripture to this boy - cuz he KNEW his OT.)

So, they are on teh back steps and the youth minister asks him
"You all have Isaiah in your scriptures, yes?" YES.
"And your God is the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, right?" YES.
"Do your scriptures talk about a Messiah?" YES.
So the youth minister says to him, "How about you pray to your God, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, and ask God if Jesus is the Messiah."

isn't that something! invoking the name of Jesus in prayer - the only way to the Father!!!! by asking if Jesus is the Messiah.

The SPIRIT TESTIFIED to him! The scales were lifted from his eyes.

Thank you Jesus.

The Spirit testified to me - when the youth minister was telling the story from the pulpit - of what had happened to him 12 hours earlier!

Amen!

The message is ' Quench ' :

http://bibletab.com/q/quench.htm

Quench (14 Occurrences)

This scripture is the mark of the spirit, upon Joshua !
1 Thessalonians 5:19 Don't quench the Spirit.

This scripture is the mark of the spirit, upon your family Shekel !
2 Samuel 14:7 Behold, the whole family has risen against your handmaid, and they say,'Deliver him who struck his brother, that we may kill him for the life of his brother whom he killed, and so destroy the heir also.' Thus they would quench my coal which is left, and would leave to my husband neither name nor remainder on the surface of the earth."

This scripture is the mark of the spirit, upon the 'new' Church, to
be revealed !
2 Samuel 21:17 But Abishai the son of Zeruiah helped him, and struck the Philistine, and killed him. Then the men of David swore to him, saying, "You shall go no more out with us to battle, that you don't quench the lamp of Israel."

WHY IS THE MESSAGE OF ' QUENCH ' SO IMPORTANT ?

THE ANSWER:

(quote, Shekel)
Evidently, he has trouble grasping the grace of God --- that is, how God could use someone imperfect like my family and my son.

And the following scripture Shekel, is where you, Joshua and the family are at this time and place, viewing the pharisaical Christians to 'try' to smother his faith :

Acts 5:40

King James Bible
And to him they agreed: and when they had called the apostles, and beaten them, they commanded that they should not speak in the name of Jesus, and let them go.

Father [IHVH] :

In the name of Jesus, our Messiah, open the anointing with understanding
of ' quench ', in your Word ! Amen !

What a wonderful testimony! Reminds me of Annanias whom the Holy Spirit spoke to (specifically) about Saul...if God did it back then, He can do it today. smile.gif

I have a wayward dd who is going to be 19 in January. I know oh so deeply how much I long for her to return to the Lord. Your testimony is giving me hope...and joyfulness...I rejoice with you! biggrin.gif...but at the same time it saddens me to read about the reaction of these people to your son's testimony. Shame on them...and how sad that they missed out on this blessing. But blessed are you when you are persecuted for His name sake! Great is your reward in heaven!

8 years ago we were asked to leave our church...leave our puppet ministry...simply because out of conscience sake we shared the truth with our pastor in private about our views on tithing...(that this is an OT practice and we are no longer bound to this law....but rather are free to give without compulsion etc). We felt as though the scripture came true in our lives that warned about being "kicked out of the synagogue(church)"!

From that day forward we have not looked back, we have grown so tremendously in our walk with the Lord. I know that this was the will of the Lord for us to have the doctrines of men removed from our understandings...to have the blinders removed (so to speak), and to receive revelation from God Himself. Of course it's good to stay in fellowship with other believers but I'm also aware that there are many prophecies speaking of our days that there would be many teachers heaped up to tickle the ears....exploiting the people in order to make merchandise of God...and we see that very thing going on today in MANY churches.

Please continue to share this blessed testimony of your son...I for one would enjoy reading more!
I pray for you, your wife and your son to be led WHEREVER the Lord would lead you all....be it another church, a home church or your own home (for where two or three are gathered together in His name, there He is in the midst!).

God bless you,
Kim

Leaving the legalistic church is the best thing you could do for your son. Self-righteousness is one of the things Jesus hated. I grew up in a legalistic church that fought constantly over doctrinal issues, used the scriptures to control people, and ultimately, lost an entire generation who will not even step into a church building now.

Praise God for Joshua returning.

God is so faithful.

There is nothing sweeter than to witness your own child serving the Lord.

Pray for wisdom about the church.

Holding Joshua up...

I can feel the Holy Spirit all over me as I read the testimony.
About 3 weeks ago I woke up crying...weeping in intercession and the
Lord led me to pray outloud Joshua 24. I believe the anointing of this
particular scripture is laying hold of hearts right NOW.

Shalom,

Dean,

DOING A DANCE OF CELEBRATION AND JOY! Praise the Lord! Oh Praise the Lord! What a day to be thankful- for a child has come to his Father in heaven!!!! OH PRAISE THE LORD! Hallelujah! biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

I will certainly pray for Joshua- may he, with Christ inside of him and doing a work through him, take much territory from the enemy and claim it for the only One and True God, in Jesus' name.

No! OUR LORD JESUS IS SO FAITHFUL!!!

Exodus34:5 Then the LORD came down in the cloud and stood there with him and proclaimed his name, the LORD. 6 And he passed in front of Moses, proclaiming, "The LORD, the LORD, the compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness, 7 maintaining love to thousands, and forgiving wickedness, rebellion and sin. Yet he does not leave the guilty unpunished; he punishes the children and their children for the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth generation."

American Standard Version
1 But know this, that in the last days grievous times shall come. 2 For men shall be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, haughty, railers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3 without natural affection, implacable, slanderers, without self-control, fierce, no lovers of good, 4 traitors, headstrong, puffed up, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God; 5 holding a form of godliness, but having denied the power therefore. From these also turn away. 6 For of these are they that creep into houses, and take captive silly women laden with sins, led away by divers lusts, 7 ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. 8 And even as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also withstand the truth. Men corrupted in mind, reprobate concerning the faith. 9 But they shall proceed no further. For their folly shall be evident unto all men, as theirs also came to be.

10 But thou didst follow my teaching, conduct, purpose, faith, longsuffering, love, patience, 11 persecutions, sufferings. What things befell me at Antioch, at Iconium, at Lystra; what persecutions I endured. And out of them all the Lord delivered me. 12 Yea, and all that would live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution. 13 But evil men and impostors shall wax worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived. 14 But abide thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them. 15 And that from a babe thou hast known the sacred writings which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. 16 Every scripture inspired of God is also profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for instruction which is in righteousness. 17 That the man of God may be complete, furnished completely unto every good work.

Joshua's steps are ordered by the Lord.

The Lord gives greater understanding as time goes on.

Kim...I can't even imagine what it would be like to be asked to leave a church or a house church Shekel.. unsure.gif

What the heck would you feel? ... Deep searchings...

I'm glad my Pastor has the gift of mercy ...or maybe l would have been asked to leave to...?

My boys were here for dinner last night. The whole family doesn't get to fellowship much so it's an event.

When you recognize how far your children have to go and all they must yet face and understand...
boy..we agonize over them.
Shekel
I have read all that everyone has written and I am so glad for your prayers and words of encouragement. I took him out to the restaurant yesterday to teach him about spiritual warfare. Its feels so good to have him truly interested in spiritual things rather than passive as before. I feel like we are on the same team. It is a good feeling, and the way it should be.

My son is definitely not returning to that church, but I helped establish it and there are still good people there who want me to stay, although the leaven of hypocrisy has been steadily eating away at its roots. But with my son back it renews my faith and strength to see the assembly through back on course, the way it used to be.
Josepha Cobbi
What a great sign and delivery for you and your son Joshua, Dean!
All Praise to God!

Then why do you not take back the church YOU started
and expose jealousy with the help of our GOD?
Is His Hand short to save? No!

We speak of jealousy, and I pray against this jealousy that opposes God's Will, in Jesus Name, Amen!

Amen....This is such wonderful news...No stopping Jesus now. 1dsz5e4.gif ..he is blessing you and your family...what joy, Blessed are the hands and feet that bring forth the Gospel of Christ Jesus our LORD.

I also pray that the shackles come off the feet of your churches leaders...and that the Power of the Holy Spirit comes upon them, with peace that surpasseth all understanding...May you pray for your right time of departure if you do...for maybe the LORD wants you there to be a true witness for Jesus' name sake. I pray that they come to their senses and reach out to Jesus' grace and mercy. ...and realize through the Holy Spirit that, they have allowed the Religious legalistic spirit to place pride in their hearts, and that the LORD chastises them and convicts them so that they turn whole-heartedley to Jesus in surrendering their will to the Father's wonderful will and purpose for their lives...thy will be done. LORD we know in your timing and grace....God is with thee always.
