Full Version: Listening To The Holy Spirit

Does anyone else ever hear from him? I don't mean the audible voice of God like when he spoke to Moses. I mean it seems like the Holy Spirit just gives you knowledge without a word being said to you. Like the Holy spirit did for Peter when he knew Jesus was the Messiah without it ever being said to him.

Can anyone give examples in your own lives that came true?

This is called revelation, like an epiphany of sorts.

Have many examples, that Jesus walks the earth again to be revealed to the world later on.

That the saints have now resurrected and returned with Jesus, that not only our spirits will go back to God, but our souls as well in this time of new dispensation. Etc etc...

Last night at a meeting, a brother requested prayer...and while he was being prayed for...the Spirit impressed on me the word "oil." This led to some elder brothers praying for him while anointing his head with oil. I don't believe I have ever done that before, although it is in the bible.

There are far too many other instances to count. smile.gif

From a piece of a song by Casting Crowns " Out of all the voices calling out to me, I will choose to listen and believe the voice of truth"

There are many many voices in the wind & in the air so we really desperately need to know His voice to be able to discern. There are times when I am sure it is Him speaking to me, giving me comforting words and insight, and then there are times when I'm not so sure or times when I flat out know it is NOT His voice, or Him. When I have doubts, I always go to the Bible and seek confirmation if it is not there, then I usually just continue reading and before long the memory of the voice fades to dust. Or I pray about it. I know that some people are very bold to say the Holy Spirit always speaks to them, but I'm different, I am more careful because I would not want to assume it is Him and act upon that, and find that it was not Him, or I don't want to assume it is not Him and not act upon it and find that it was...did that make sense?

There are no examples really I can give as affirmation(s). I think right now He is working through us individually, reminding us of things that have been forgotten or lost over a long period of 2000 years. smile.gif Sort of getting us back on track with Truth.

I have no say in the matter as it is the Holy Spirit that chooses to speak...whenever.

Never, when I choose to listen, and I wouldn't want it any other way because I am not a good listener

yes, sometimes when i wake up i realize something from God that i didn't know before,
or when i am talking about the things of God and the Word, then it is as if i am also,
listening to the Holy Spirit through my words, and through someone speaking to me.

the is the word of our testimony...

we will really need to cling to God through the Word and turn from the worldliness
that constantly ensnares us. the world will not help, only our help comes from God.

blessings,

yes i have that very often

sometimes it may be that the Spirit speaks something in me about something i have been meditating on, or something i have just done or not done or something i should go do or not do.

like recently a sister was having hard time with unforgiveness and rebellion in her flesh and the Spirit said to me, just go hug her. This time it was very overwhelming as i actually felt it literally in my belly swell up into my mind and i knew it was of the Lord because i am not a very huggy person with others besides my husband and kids so my flesh does not think that way. this time it came up in me and i was realy like a swelling as it moved in me.

i only had it happen one other time with the swelling feeling like that,- that time i was thinking on a situation that seemed hopeless and the Spirit broughtr a scripture to me, the promise of God is able to do exceedingly abudantly beyond all we could ask- that time also it swelled up from my belly and i confess it out of my mouth without any thought, it was like it was a wave that rolled up and pushed its way out of my mouth amen.

but most of the time its just there, with revelations often times the Lord will just drop information in my mind in a full compete complex picture that i will understand totally in a milisecond and all the scriptures will be perfectly lined up in order in my mind to understand, what i could not before that moment see or comprehend.

Well I will give my best examples to date. One When I saw George bush on TV in 1999 I said to myself "hey that guys the next President. All always remember it when I saw it on cable news I remember it was like only the second time I ever saw Bush on TV.

I know I assumed many things at times but I know it was caused mostly by the hoplessness because the few times the pain doesn't bother me it very easy to sit back and wait for God. When it hurts to the point of want to die you speculate all the time because the pain makes life miserable and steals your patients away.

I concur on the belly swelling thing. It just rises up from the innards. This seems to happen when something public is about to happen. In other words these swellings are to minister something towards others. smile.gif
