The Old Testament prophet was an arbiter of the judgement of God. When he came to town, the people feared, as they figured he had a word from God with ought against them! Most times, they were right in so expecting!
The New Testament prophetic gift is divided to men by the Holy Spirit severally as He wills. It is meant to bring direction, and confirmation of things to the life of an individual. It is meant to speak to the assemblies and to show the will of the Lord in the here and now.
These people are gifted to communicate God's prophetic messages. They are like the silver-tongued Isaiah and will be moved to give lengthy prophetic messages. Not all of the messages will be spontaneous--some may come in the form of prophetic teaching. As a result of studying God's Word, the Lord will give revelatory messages that will be a "trumpeting" of what the Holy Spirit is saying to the Church.
Prophetic Gifts function to awaken and activate the saints to the purpose of God for their time. They can lend themselves in a governmental ministry with the apostolic ministries. Prophets often bring directional and structural adjustments to churches, movements and even governments, which is usually administered through local apostolic leaders. They sound the alarm in times of transition, judgment, expansion and warfare.They prepare the way for a visitation of God by addressing oppositions and difficult issues not able to be dislodged by other ministries. They hear from God in unique ways and bring clarity and perspective to the church in difficult days.
Luke 9:51 And it came to pass, when the time was come that he should be received up, he stedfastly set his face to go to Jerusalem, 52 And sent messengers before his face: and they went, and entered into a village of the Samaritans, to make ready for him. 53 And they did not receive him, because his face was as though he would go to Jerusalem. 54 And when his disciples James and John saw this, they said, Lord, wilt thou that we command fire to come down from heaven, and consume them, even as Elias did? 55 But he turned, and rebuked them, and said, Ye know not what manner of spirit ye are of. 56 For the Son of man is not come to destroy men’s lives, but to save them. And they went to another village.
If we are seeking to call fire down from heaven and destroy those who do not readily welcome us in, then we are not in the will of God, for as Christ has spoken (red letter words!) "Ye know not what manner of spirit ye are of. For the Son of man is not come to destroy men’s lives, but to save them."
A true prophet will be inspired of love to direct a sinner by the word of life as directed by II Tim 2:24 And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient, 25 In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth; 26 And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.
We must remember God is in the judging business, we are in the seed sowing business! Although God is a righteous judge, He is so very longsuffering toward men!. Thanks be unto God from whom all blessings flow, for if such were not the case, we would of all men be most miserable, as judgement begins at the house of God! (I Peter 4:16) We must simply obey the voice of the Spirit as we are individually led top promulgate the gospel and to be like Jesus as we do not come to destroy men's lives, but to save them!
In closing, this word from our precious Holy Spirit is an unction to obey!

You have focused in upon and hence magnified the fear of the name of the beast. And you have numbered men as being only a few or remnant who are said to be real believers and true. Yet John tells us that in the end there is no such thing as a remnant but a great number that no man could number who had gotten the victory over the beast and the name. Revelation 7. So the scriptures do not support a remnant but as great number that no man could number. And no matter how it looks today this is how it all comes about to be in the end. It is His work to do and will be that way. Rather than a remnant it will be a great number that no man can number who come out of great tribulations. All of this is contrary to your teachings. Which means your view is contrary to the word on this matter. Unfortunately you do not go and check things for your self to confirm them. So you tried to number the people of Yawah as only a few and placed a number on them as you went about magnifying the name of the beast.
You make the mistake in thinking that Yawah has no one appointed on earth who is higher than you! Many however are higher than you are. You are merely a lowly worm. Eating on petrified dead matter such as this lie called Planet X. Oh, by the way: where is this rogue planet you preached about? Hum?

Not a one of them will ever be damned by disclosing the facts on you. Rather you are in the damnation and the lake of fire which you are to be cast alive into! We can only read of one prophet mentioned on the earth at the return of Christ in Revelation 19 which is there refered to as the false prophet which is cast alive into the lake of fire. So how will you spin this revelation?

Elijah is today's prophet. He is restoring all things and is turning the hearts of the fathers to the children and the hearts of the children to their fathers which is the will of the Father in heaven. Elijah has prepared the Church, the Lord's Bride, that he may present her as a chaste vergin to Christ. For the Church has made Herself ready by keeping Herself clean and holy daily, not having indulged in the sins of the world. Elijah has exposed the devil's wiles and thus Satan fears him and the Church greatly. And the Lord Jesus Christ says, "he who overcomes and keeps My works until the end, to him I will give power over the nations --- 'He shall rule them with a rod of iron; they shall be dashed to pieces like the potter's vessels' --- as I also have received from My Father; and I will give him the morning star." It Took a Prophet

I remember how crazy it appeared to be for me to suggest, in a
prophecy, that Arabs were going to one day come against the United
States with nuclear weapons. There had been no Arab attack against
U.S. interests in January, 1993 when I had the vision of the missile
heading toward the USS Kitty Hawk. That all changed a few months
later, when some Arabs bungled a first attempt to bring down the
World Trade Center. Of course, they were not bungling anything any
more in 2001. Now, it doesn't take a prophet any more to say that
Arabs are going to use anything and everything they can obtain to
attack the United States. It takes a prophet to name names like
that. Bob Neumann says a similar fate will come to the aircraft
carrier USS Lincoln. You can count on it: it will happen.
Why does God show His servants such things? Because He says that He
will, and so that we can have an opportunity to humble ourselves,
and turn from our sins, and to pray. The 1960's were the time of my
childhood, and church in those days was certainly not about money
and the big show. There was not even one well known national TV
religious figure. Billy Graham was much bigger than that: He was a
national icon, but there really were no others. Church was religion,
but it was local, and the families were involved. Everyone had a
nuclear family. It took a prophet, Stanley Frodsham, to tell us that
one day the churches would be so obsessed with money and prosperity
to the point that it would be all they would talk about or prophesy
about. Of course, it took Rick Wiles to point out in 2005 that since
they prophesy only about money and prosperity, God will not give
them any visions about the coming of the Lord. It took a prophet
then. Now, all it takes is a television. Well, it still takes a
prophet for some of these things now, doesn't it?
There are some things that it never really took a prophet to tell
us, but God sent us prophets anyway to show us that California WILL
fall into the sea, and the Mississippi River will become a 250 mile
wide lake due to terrible earthquakes that will rip this country
apart. Chicago will go to the river bed and yes, New Orleans will be
flooded. No, it really didn't require a prophet to tell us those
things, but God sent prophets ahead of time because God honors his
word. He will tell His servants, the prophets, before he does
ANYTHING. Yes, volcanoes will erupt in America and elsewhere, and
earthquakes will happen in diverse places. Jesus said so, and so
have other prophets. Yes, God sent prophets to tell us that Russia
WILL launch those missiles against the U.S. Many of them carry the
name of Satan: The SS 18. It takes a prophet to tell you those types
of things, because the result is so horrible that everyone wants to
believe that arms control will succeed. Surely, this nuclear
holocaust can be avoided, everyone hopes. But, it takes a prophet to
tell us the truth, and the truth is no, it will not be avoided.
It really takes a prophet to tell us things that we have never seen
before. In 2001, I began to prophesy, along with Bob Neumann and
others, that a giant tsunami would inundate the East and Southern
Coasts of the United States. No one had ever seen or heard of such a
thing. Then, in 2004, something like this happened in Indonesia.
Now, some are conceding that it still takes a prophet to believe
that a falling asteroid, or two, or three, might cause such a thing,
but now, it is being discussed in the evening news and not in the
National Enquirer. Rick Wiles is saying right now, in November 2005,
that a great calamity like nothing the world has ever seen is coming
very soon, and we all need to be weeping about it before the Lord.
Have you shed any tears? Do you pray at all?
Long before that, in 1997, Virginia Boldea also saw asteroids
hitting land in the United States, and others have seen the same
thing in dreams. In 2005, the Lord told me that we will see
asteroids hitting land and cities and in the sea, off the coast of
the United States. Yes, land and sea. Neither has happened before,
so right now, it takes a prophet. In just a little while, it won't.
It really didn't take a prophet to tell us that suitcase nuclear
bombs would be detonated in the United States. A defecting Russian
General told us that it had been planned that way. God showed me in
1992 that a nuclear blast would incinerate Miami Beach. Later, He
showed me Los Angeles, meeting a similar fate. Dumitru Duduman was
also shown several cities, including Las Vegas, where these
detonations would occur. It took a prophet then to say it, and it
still will, until the first bombs go off. Then, it will not require
a prophet any more. To say, as Dumitru said, that "America Will
Burn" will probably always require a prophet. Russia has been so
friendly for the last 15 years, but it took several prophets to tell
us that it will not remain this way. It took a prophet to bring
forth the truth to come in the most colorful and memorable vision.

It also took prophets to tell you that just before the worst of
these things happen, God is going to seal, cleanse and raise up a
remnant unto himself. These will have kept themselves unspotted and
undefiled. They will not be connected with any of the harlot
churches. These remnant believers will have EVERYTHING they need to
rule and reign for Jesus in the Earth, and they will not be widely
known. They will be an obscure group of no reputation, who suddenly
come forth, filled with great power from God. It takes a prophet to
reveal such a thing, it always has, and it always will. When you see
the empowerment and rise of this obscure remnant, look out, for as
they are rising, everything else in this world system is about to
fall. (Note from David: The man-child, David's, First-fruits, White
horse rider, etc.)
It takes a prophet to tell you that some of these events are nearer
than one year away. Yet, that is what three prophets are saying, and
I am one. These world shaking events are very, very near. Are you
ready? Are you still in your sins? Are you mired in the God forsaken
religion of prosperity Christianity? For God's sake COME OUT OF IT!
Have you made any preparations at all, spiritually or in the
natural? Have you prayed that God might, in His wrath, show mercy?
Now would be a very good time to fall to your knees, or take a walk
with God, and pray. Ask Him about the truth of all of this, and what
He wants you to do about it. Beg God to deliver you out of your
sins. Get your plan from heaven. You are almost out of time.
You shall be astonished as you walk forward from
this day. I tell you that I am going to build My house. It is a
house that no man can build, and I will build on the mountain tops,
and I will build in the places that people will flow into. I will
build a house of power, for indeed this is the season of the horse
(of power) when the sons of My right hand shall arise to their
positions. I shall dispel the lies that I no longer move in power.
I shall break through the darkness, for I am the light of this Day.
I am the Way, the Truth and the Life. Truth is going to be revealed
in an unprecedented way as I come forth in power and build My
house. It will be a house that I can dwell in, a place of healing
and resurrection life, a place of revelation knowledge. You, My
people, will see that house. Arise and rejoice, for I come, says
the Lord!
There is a rumbling; it is My power in the
earth. It is resurrection power. I have been touched with the
feeling of your infirmities. I have been touched by your grief and
sorrow. Come forth. Rise up and come forth. You have been bound
in grave clothes, but I call to you to come forth! I will bring you
up and loose you from your bondages. I will cause you to overcome
and to be victorious even over the death in the things you have
experienced, says the Lord.
First-fruits about to Walk as Jesus Walked

In a dream I saw a candle lit and up close (the candle also took the
shape of a lamp) that was surrounded by total darkness. Then I saw
the light of the candle back in the distance. As I got closer to
the light the light grew brighter. And then I was inside the light
and a beautiful lush green garden appeared with a well in it and
next to the well a small house with a small tower which looked like
a chimney but was not. On the top of the tower was what looked like
a clock, although I didn't see the time. My focus was now on the
well which at first looked like a fountain because water was
springing up out of it. Around the circle of the well was a stone
wall with water around the sides. In the middle, however, was the
well with the crank and bucket which was made out of wood. As I
looked upon a hand brought up some water as to drink. As the water
was in this hand it turned into a handful of almonds. This hand
belonged to a man and he began to eat the almonds out of his hand.
Interpretation by Corey and David: By being the source of God's
true Word to the world we become the light. (Mt.5:14) Ye are the
light of the world. The "small house with a small tower which
looked like a chimney" represents the relatively small group of the
first-fruits who have offered their natural life -- wood -- as a
fiery sacrifice to God. The clock means the time for this sacrifice
is now. The first-fruits to manifest this garden and well of living

The Apostle Paul was a man of determination that whatever it took to get the message of the Gospel out, he was will to do it in prison or out—Word of God Speak through me! That is dedication that can come from other motives as he told us in the next verse:
“ It is true that some preach Christ out of envy and rivalry, but others out of goodwill.
16 The latter do so in love, knowing that I am put here for the defense of the gospel.
17 The former preach Christ out of selfish ambition, not sincerely, supposing that they can stir up trouble for me while I am in chains.” Philippians 1:15-17 NIV.
God’s Word is to be preached for the right reason, yet it is God’s Word and will accomplish what it is sent out to do! But if we simply go on about the mandate of the Father to preach Christ to the lost, in the love of the Father, just as Jesus taught us in His time upon this earth, then we can do it no matter the setting and then the results will be the proof of the motives! The fruit always proves the seed that it came from! Love covers a multitude of sins and a person that was “dead to self gain” as Apostle Paul did not concern himself on how it elevated his ministry. He was on a mandate to share in the love of Jesus the message of Christ to let only the Word of God Speak!

It Took a Prophet

I remember how crazy it appeared to be for me to suggest, in a
prophecy, that Arabs were going to one day come against the United
States with nuclear weapons. There had been no Arab attack against
U.S. interests in January, 1993 when I had the vision of the missile
heading toward the USS Kitty Hawk. That all changed a few months
later, when some Arabs bungled a first attempt to bring down the
World Trade Center. Of course, they were not bungling anything any
more in 2001. Now, it doesn't take a prophet any more to say that
Arabs are going to use anything and everything they can obtain to
attack the United States. It takes a prophet to name names like
that. Bob Neumann says a similar fate will come to the aircraft
carrier USS Lincoln. You can count on it: it will happen.
Why does God show His servants such things? Because He says that He
will, and so that we can have an opportunity to humble ourselves,
and turn from our sins, and to pray. The 1960's were the time of my
childhood, and church in those days was certainly not about money
and the big show. There was not even one well known national TV
religious figure. Billy Graham was much bigger than that: He was a
national icon, but there really were no others. Church was religion,
but it was local, and the families were involved. Everyone had a
nuclear family. It took a prophet, Stanley Frodsham, to tell us that
one day the churches would be so obsessed with money and prosperity
to the point that it would be all they would talk about or prophesy
about. Of course, it took Rick Wiles to point out in 2005 that since
they prophesy only about money and prosperity, God will not give
them any visions about the coming of the Lord. It took a prophet
then. Now, all it takes is a television. Well, it still takes a
prophet for some of these things now, doesn't it?
There are some things that it never really took a prophet to tell
us, but God sent us prophets anyway to show us that California WILL
fall into the sea, and the Mississippi River will become a 250 mile
wide lake due to terrible earthquakes that will rip this country
apart. Chicago will go to the river bed and yes, New Orleans will be
flooded. No, it really didn't require a prophet to tell us those
things, but God sent prophets ahead of time because God honors his
word. He will tell His servants, the prophets, before he does
ANYTHING. Yes, volcanoes will erupt in America and elsewhere, and
earthquakes will happen in diverse places. Jesus said so, and so
have other prophets. Yes, God sent prophets to tell us that Russia
WILL launch those missiles against the U.S. Many of them carry the
name of Satan: The SS 18. It takes a prophet to tell you those types
of things, because the result is so horrible that everyone wants to
believe that arms control will succeed. Surely, this nuclear
holocaust can be avoided, everyone hopes. But, it takes a prophet to
tell us the truth, and the truth is no, it will not be avoided.
It really takes a prophet to tell us things that we have never seen
before. In 2001, I began to prophesy, along with Bob Neumann and
others, that a giant tsunami would inundate the East and Southern
Coasts of the United States. No one had ever seen or heard of such a
thing. Then, in 2004, something like this happened in Indonesia.
Now, some are conceding that it still takes a prophet to believe
that a falling asteroid, or two, or three, might cause such a thing,
but now, it is being discussed in the evening news and not in the
National Enquirer. Rick Wiles is saying right now, in November 2005,
that a great calamity like nothing the world has ever seen is coming
very soon, and we all need to be weeping about it before the Lord.
Have you shed any tears? Do you pray at all?
Long before that, in 1997, Virginia Boldea also saw asteroids
hitting land in the United States, and others have seen the same
thing in dreams. In 2005, the Lord told me that we will see
asteroids hitting land and cities and in the sea, off the coast of
the United States. Yes, land and sea. Neither has happened before,
so right now, it takes a prophet. In just a little while, it won't.
It really didn't take a prophet to tell us that suitcase nuclear
bombs would be detonated in the United States. A defecting Russian
General told us that it had been planned that way. God showed me in
1992 that a nuclear blast would incinerate Miami Beach. Later, He
showed me Los Angeles, meeting a similar fate. Dumitru Duduman was
also shown several cities, including Las Vegas, where these
detonations would occur. It took a prophet then to say it, and it
still will, until the first bombs go off. Then, it will not require
a prophet any more. To say, as Dumitru said, that "America Will
Burn" will probably always require a prophet. Russia has been so
friendly for the last 15 years, but it took several prophets to tell
us that it will not remain this way. It took a prophet to bring
forth the truth to come in the most colorful and memorable vision.

It also took prophets to tell you that just before the worst of
these things happen, God is going to seal, cleanse and raise up a
remnant unto himself. These will have kept themselves unspotted and
undefiled. They will not be connected with any of the harlot
churches. These remnant believers will have EVERYTHING they need to
rule and reign for Jesus in the Earth, and they will not be widely
known. They will be an obscure group of no reputation, who suddenly
come forth, filled with great power from God. It takes a prophet to
reveal such a thing, it always has, and it always will. When you see
the empowerment and rise of this obscure remnant, look out, for as
they are rising, everything else in this world system is about to
fall. (Note from David: The man-child, David's, First-fruits, White
horse rider, etc.)
It takes a prophet to tell you that some of these events are nearer
than one year away. Yet, that is what three prophets are saying, and
I am one. These world shaking events are very, very near. Are you
ready? Are you still in your sins? Are you mired in the God forsaken
religion of prosperity Christianity? For God's sake COME OUT OF IT!
Have you made any preparations at all, spiritually or in the
natural? Have you prayed that God might, in His wrath, show mercy?
Now would be a very good time to fall to your knees, or take a walk
with God, and pray. Ask Him about the truth of all of this, and what
He wants you to do about it. Beg God to deliver you out of your
sins. Get your plan from heaven. You are almost out of time.
You shall be astonished as you walk forward from
this day. I tell you that I am going to build My house. It is a
house that no man can build, and I will build on the mountain tops,
and I will build in the places that people will flow into. I will
build a house of power, for indeed this is the season of the horse
(of power) when the sons of My right hand shall arise to their
positions. I shall dispel the lies that I no longer move in power.
I shall break through the darkness, for I am the light of this Day.
I am the Way, the Truth and the Life. Truth is going to be revealed
in an unprecedented way as I come forth in power and build My
house. It will be a house that I can dwell in, a place of healing
and resurrection life, a place of revelation knowledge. You, My
people, will see that house. Arise and rejoice, for I come, says
the Lord!
There is a rumbling; it is My power in the
earth. It is resurrection power. I have been touched with the
feeling of your infirmities. I have been touched by your grief and
sorrow. Come forth. Rise up and come forth. You have been bound
in grave clothes, but I call to you to come forth! I will bring you
up and loose you from your bondages. I will cause you to overcome
and to be victorious even over the death in the things you have
experienced, says the Lord.

shape of a lamp) that was surrounded by total darkness. Then I saw
the light of the candle back in the distance. As I got closer to
the light the light grew brighter. And then I was inside the light
and a beautiful lush green garden appeared with a well in it and
next to the well a small house with a small tower which looked like
a chimney but was not. On the top of the tower was what looked like
a clock, although I didn't see the time. My focus was now on the
well which at first looked like a fountain because water was
springing up out of it. Around the circle of the well was a stone
wall with water around the sides. In the middle, however, was the
well with the crank and bucket which was made out of wood. As I
looked upon a hand brought up some water as to drink. As the water
was in this hand it turned into a handful of almonds. This hand
belonged to a man and he began to eat the almonds out of his hand.

true Word to the world we become the light. (Mt.5:14) Ye are the
light of the world. The "small house with a small tower which

first-fruits who have offered their natural life -- wood -- as a

This is what I sense Father desires for you and me to begin declaring. We must recognize who we are and what we have been sent to do.
I am Samson. I have been given the glory the Father gave Jesus (John 17:22). My hair (covering, glory) has grown back, thus my strength has ‘returned’ (the strength of the Lord will return to his people).
I have the spirit of Elijah upon me (his mantle). I will precede the “coming of the Lord”. I will prepare the people for his arrival. I will turn the heart of the Father back to His children (once again he will look upon the church with delight—(with light)), and He, through me, and those like me, will make disobedient minds to accept godly wisdom.
Furthermore, my job is to bring the hearts of the people back to the heart of the Father. I will pull down every proud argument that has exalted itself above the truth and knowledge of Jesus Christ. I will pull down these “pillars” (Jezebel) and this quenching spirit (unbelief) so the people are able to receive God’s truth, in love, all in its purity.
I have been called to pull down man-made doctrines (demon logic), these man-made high places that have placed their names next to the Lords. This temple is about to be shaken.
Jezebel, that puppet of the devil, is my enemy. It has kept God’s people under a controlling spirit (a religious spirit – an unbelieving spirit), this “quenching spiritual canopy”, but I will bring it down. My weapon is unfamiliar to the enemy (the purity of God’s Words). The living Word of God, my sword, has a special thistle wrap on it. Its sting will be fatal to everything and every high idea it touches.
Every spiritual wall and barrier (even denominations) WILL come down. Every lie will be exposed. Every cult within the hearts of men will be devoured, and those who hang on to them (this demon doctrine) will become a walking curse (see Malachi 4:6).
“I have seen enough” says the Captain of Hosts. “They (demons) will come out from you. Wicked men will be placed in the barren places, never to return.”
We WILL be ONE, just as Jesus prayed in John 17:21. By the glory and mantle placed upon me, the Lord will build ONE church and a unified Bride for his Son for his return. We will be in him and he will be in us—finally. And then the “world” (people, angels, demons and principalities) will know and believe that we have been sent by GOD, that we are the sons of God. We will finally take dominion over the earth. We will finally see the kingdom of our Father and God come and be established on earth. WE WILL DO IT. We will hand it over to Christ, and He will establish its final boundaries that it may be given to the Father.
That day is upon us, VERY soon now, where all creation will know who the sons of God really are. All creation anticipates this day, when it will join God’s children in glorious freedom from Satan’s lies, from death and decay.
The time has come for judgment (discipline), and it MUST begin first among God’s own precious children, for he loves us way too much to let us prostitute ourselves any longer. We MUST be readied to bring in the greatest harvest known in the heavens and on earth.
I am the Lord’s messenger. I have been sent to prepare the way for the Lord’s coming. But who will be able to endure it when I come? Who will be able to stand and face me when I appear? For the Lord has declared that I will be like a blazing fire that refines metal, or like a strong soap that whitens clothes. I will judge like a refiner of silver, watching closely as the dross is burned away. I will purify the people of God, so that they may once again offer acceptable sacrifices to the Lord.
At that time, the Lord will come near to us for judgment. He will be a witness against all “sorcerers” and “adulterers” and “liars”. He will speak against those who cheat “employees" of their wages, who oppress widows and orphans, or who deprive the “foreigners” living among us of justice, for these people do not fear the Lord.
On the day that the Lord acts, those whose names have been written down, those who have listened to the Lord, who fear him and love to think about him, will BE HIS PEOPLE. They will be God’s own special treasure. He will spare them as a father spares an obedient and dutiful child. Then we will again see the difference between the righteous and the wicked, between those who serve God and those who do not.
Very soon now, those who say they are the Lord’s, but live in arrogance and wickedness, will be burned up like straw (cursed—cut off). They will be consumed like a tree—roots and all. (Malachi) (See also the cursing of the fig tree in the gospels)
But for those who live by FAITH, the Sun of Righteousness will rise with healing in his wings. And you will go free, leaping with joy.
I am coming. The Lord IS about to release me. I have the spirit of Elijah and will come before that great and dreadful day of the Lord arrives. My preaching will turn the hearts of the fathers back to their children, and the hearts of children to their parents.
The Lord has said, “My order WILL be established. My government will either ruin the lives of many or run the lives of many. I will touch all that I’ve created.”

Days of Elijah

I have had quite a few people asking me for an explanation of the roots and meaning of the words and themes contained in "Days of Elijah" since I wrote the song back in 1994.
The song is generally and principally a song of 'hope'. The themes it explores are to do with the fact that, although raised a Methodist, I attended a lot of Brethren or Gospel Hall meetings as a small boy and somehow the theology of Old Testament stories and characters being, either as themselves or by their actions, 'types' or 'examples' of Christ and the Church got stuck in my head. That is, even though they were historical factual people, living in the old covenant days, their actions and characters can be used to teach and represent the character of God under the new covenant and they continually and repeatedly point to Christ. People call this "Typology" or "Typical" analysis of the scriptures.
Firstly the song came from watching a television "Review of the Year" at the end of 1994. This was the year of the Rwandan civil war tragedy which claimed 1 million peoples lives, and also when the first ceasefires in N.I. were declared. On this TV review were a lot of daft stories, happy stories, serious stories, and then absolutely devastating stories like the Rwandan situation. As I watched the review unfold I found myself despairing about the state of the world and, in prayer, began asking God if He was really in control and what sort of days were we living in.
I felt in my spirit that He replied to my prayer by saying that indeed He was very much in control and that the days we were living in were special times when He would require Christians to be filled with integrity and to stand up for Him just like Elijah did, particularly with the prophets of Baal. "These are 'Elijah' days". Elijah's story is in the book of Kings and you can read how he felt isolated and alone in the culture in which he lived. But God told him to stand up and speak for Him.
We also needed to be a holy and just people and hence the reference to the "days of your servant Moses", meaning that righteousness and right living was important in all our attitudes and works. Now we are under grace and not under law, but the righteousness that comes by faith can be no less than the moral law that Moses brought direct from God. It has not been superseded. In fact Jesus told us that our "righteousness must exceed that of the Pharisees", who were the most ardent followers of Gods laws as presented by Moses. Jesus was after righteous, servant hearts, of course, that desired to live holy lives for Him.
"Days of great trial, of famine, darkness and sword" is a reflection of the apparent times in which we live when still thousands of people die every day from starvation, malnutrition and war. In the midst of it all we are called to make a declaration of what and who we believe in.
The second verse refers to the restoration of unity of the body, what Jesus prayed for - "that they may be one even as I and the Father are one..." by reference to Ezekiel's prophetic vision of the valley of the dry bones becoming flesh and being knit together. There are lots of interpretations of this picture, but one of a united church rising up in unity and purpose, is a powerful call on us in these days.
The restoration of praise and worship to the Church is represented by "the days of your servant David". Some folks use the term "Restoration Theology" to describe this restoring of attributes to the church. But in the song it's mainly a picture of worship.
Of course David didn't get to build the structural temple (that's why the word in the song line is "rebuild"), that was left to Solomon his son, but David was used by God to introduce a revised form of worship, praise and thanksgiving into, firstly, his little tent which he pitched around the Ark of the covenant (the presence of God) and then the temple that Solomon his son built.
This worship, unlike the Mosaic Tabernacle, involved many people being able to come into Gods presence and worship him openly. (In Moses time only one man, the high priest, could enter the Holy of Holies, once a year. David's tent was a picture of how Christ would enable us to come right into Gods presence, through his sacrifice, and worship openly there).
If you search carefully through the Book of Amos (chapter 9) you will find reference to this "Restoration of David's Tabernacle". In Acts this prophecy was used to explain, at the council of Jerusalem, why the "gentiles" should be allowed to become Christians and worship their saviour without all the legal requirements of the Jewish law. It is also accepted among restoration theologians that this refers to restored Praise and Worship. The physical temple was "Solomon's", Davids "temple" was a little tent but you and I are the Temple of the Holy Spirit. It sounds complex, doesn't it, but if you just understand that the line in the song refers to Praise and Worship before the presence of God just like David enjoyed, then that's all there needs to be to it!
Finally the "days of the Harvest" point towards what is the purpose of the Christian to go into all the world and make disciples of all nations. By the way, "The fields are as white in the world" is from the old King James version and means, their ripe for harvest.
These are the themes of the verses - Declaration, Righteousness, Unity and Worship. I chose to express these thoughts by reference to the characters that represented these virtues in the Old Testament. It is in essence a song of hope for the Church and the world in times of great trial.
The chorus is the ultimate declaration of hope - Christ's return. It is paraphrased from the books of Revelation and Daniel and the vision that was seen of the coming King and refers to the return of Christ and the year of Jubilee. Theologians and Bible commentators believe that Israel never properly celebrated this particular 50th year jubilee, and that it will only be properly celebrated when Christ returns. That might be true but I reckon that a Jubilee is an apt description of what happens when Christ comes into anyone"s life at any time; debts are cancelled and a captive is set free.
These thoughts were in my head when I came to church early one Sunday in 1995. We have two services and the Pastor spoke during the first service on the "valley of dry bones" from Eziekel. I took a prompt from this and, in the 30 minutes between the services, wrote down the words and chords in the kitchen of our church building and we sang it, as a body, at the end of the second service.
How do you express the sense that these might be days, not of failure and submission, but of the sort of resilient, declaring, even arrogant trust and hope that Elijah had in his God? That these are not days of God stepping back and allowing the world and the church to roll uncontrolled towards eternity, but rather days when he is calling on his body to make a stand, to offer right praises and to declare that He is totally in control. Well, I reckon you may write the words "These are the days of Elijah" and "These are the days of David". I've used word pictures and Biblical characters to make that expression, but this is no different from many of the great hymnwriters and even David himself.
I presented the song to the church that day with a short word of explanation, and we sang it as our worship.
Now the rest, I suppose, is history. There is no mechanism (conspiracy theorists take note!) within the church for making people sing a particular song, or for increasing it's use in the national or international church body. As far as I was concerned the song was for our congregation, on that day and at that time. God obviously had other ideas and it is now sung almost world-wide. Grammatically, there may even be the odd aberration, but thankfully the church has forgiven me that particular shortcoming.
I must make it clear that I did not set out to write an overly complex or "secret" song, and I hope the testimony above bears that out.
There is a post script to this story for those who (by letters to me!) believe the song means something entirely different. A few years ago I was privileged to be in Israel at Yom Kippur for a celebration with hundreds of Messianic Jews. A very kind, gentle and humorous messianic brother had a bit of fun arguing with me that I, as an Irish Christian, could never have written a song which explores some of the themes that many (non-replacement theology here!) Jewish believers believe are the themes and indications of Christ's return. The Spirit and Power of Elijah in the Church, The restoration of Israel to righteousness in Christ (David's fallen tent), The restoration of praise and worship (David's tent also!) and the unity of the body particularly with a renewed and redeemed Israel under Christ.
For me, I only know what I wrote. I felt prompted by the Holy Spirit. Perhaps it was His desire to say something more than I personally intended and to do more with this song than I first considered.
It is an unusual song, for sure. All of these restored things like Justice, Righteousness, Integrity, Unity, Praise and Worship and Revival are considered by many to be a herald of the last days and Christ's return. Personally I don't know - I believe I wrote what God was telling me to write and He seems to have used the song in many ways for many people.
I hope the explanation is clear. The song is, perhaps, a little complex - but I can assure you that this was not deliberate. I have written lots of simple, straightforward hymns and songs covering lots of themes. This song seems to have been used particularly by God in the ministry of Praise and Worship and the themes and pictures it uses seem to have been grasped by God's people all over the world.

So if their timing is off..... their information is not coming from God.
Satan, too, is able to make "predictions" . We know he will work miracles and give signs to decieve even the very elect, if it were possible.
If a "prophet" is found to err and prophecies fail to come true in all points, then it is not Yahweh speaking through them.
