immortality
Nov 22 2008, 05:15 PM
there are those who indeed believe that christians will be "caught up", but that they won't be taken into the heavens, but will rather make a u-turn and come back down to earth. there are also those who believe they'll just be transformed into their immortal bodies and remain on the earth as the god's feirce wrath is unleashed, roaming the planet in omnipotent leisure while their friends and family get obliterated.
this is not what the bible says however:
"Your dead will live; Their corpses will rise. You who lie in the dust, awake and shout for joy, For your dew is as the dew of the dawn, And the earth will give birth to the departed spirits. My people, go to your rooms, and shut the doors behind you. Hide for a little while until his fury has ended." [isaiah 26:19-20]
"For we declare to you what the Lord has told us to say: We who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who have died. With a shout of command, with the archangel's call, and with the sound of God's trumpet, the Lord himself will come down from heaven, and the dead who belong to the Messiah will rise first." [1 thes 4:15-16]
in isaiah, the resurrection is described as occurring before the individuals enter their inner rooms. in thesolonians, paul acknowledges this as well by saying the dead will rise first and then everyone will be caught up.
so as these scriptures clearly portray, the purpose of the rapture is to protect believers from the wrath of god.
jesus says that the harvesters (angels) will gather the wheat (genuine christians) and bring them into his barn (heaven) before the wrath of god is poured out. only when the elect are safe and secure in their "inner rooms", as described in isaiah 26:20, will god allow his wrath to be unleashed.
"Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a large net thrown into the sea that gathered all kinds of fish. When it was full, the fishermen hauled it ashore. Then they sat down, sorted the good fish into containers, and threw the bad ones away." [matthew 13:48]
(what are these "containers" that christians will be collected in? what are these "clouds" that people will be caught up into? for those of you who are familiar with my posts (and my experience) you may have an idea...)
therefore, contrary the mainstream depictions of the rapture ("left behind" series and such), this catching away/resurrection event will immediately precede the wrath of god. there will not be an undefined time period between the rapture and the wrath of god to allow those left behind to quietly ponder what has happened. the rapture is a rescue, and those taken make a last-minute escape.

A very interesting post Immortality....thank you.
I agree....all will be here for the tribulation of Satan but not the wrath of God.

I agree, Immortality.
All TRUE believers will be rescued at the 'last minute'... before the last 5 months of GOD'S WRATH (Rev. 9:5).

The Lord will come and call today's church home just before He brings His hour of trial [the tribulation period] against an unbelieving world
This period will include the casting of Satan to the earth for the purpose of punishing the earth dwellers for 7 years
It will take 1,260 days for Satan's beast to rise, to conquer, and to subdue the earth
He will then rule unopposed for the next 1,260 days
Many of the Lord's judgment events will take place during this period causing confusion, vexation, and destruction against human intransigence
It is the Lord Himself who will bring and command His hour of trial which will last 7 prophetic years
He will seek to destroy all of the governments of the nations during the period and will ultimately turn on the beast and his kingdom at the end of the second 1,260 days [Revelation 16]
Satan will come to the earth at the beginning of the tribulation period to open the abyss
He will release his "antichrist" Abaddon-Apollyon
It is the Lord who will give them the devil because they have refused to believe the truth about Him
Living believers at the time will not be subjected to His wrath of unprecedented confusion, vexation, and destruction .... He will keep them from it as He has promised
Today's believers will be immortalized just before the tribulation period
Matthew
25:1 Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom.
25:2 And five of them were wise, and five were foolish.
25:3 They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them:
25:4 But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.
25:5 While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept.
25:6 And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him.
25:7 Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps.
25:8 And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out.
25:9 But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves.
25:10 And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut.
25:11 Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us.
25:12 But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not.
25:13 Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.
Revelation
3:8 I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it: for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name.
3:9 Behold, I will make them of the synagogue of Satan, which say they are Jews, and are not, but do lie; behold, I will make them to come and worship before thy feet, and to know that I have loved thee.
3:10 Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of trial, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth.
1Thessalonians
4:15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.
4:16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
4:17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
4:18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words.
Revelation
18:4 And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.
4:2 And immediately I was in the spirit: and, behold, a throne was set in heaven, and one sat on the throne.
4:3 And he that sat was to look upon like a jasper and a sardine stone: and there was a rainbow round about the throne, in sight like unto an emerald.
4:4 And round about the throne were four and twenty seats: and upon the seats I saw four and twenty elders sitting, clothed in white raiment; and they had on their heads crowns of gold.
5:9 And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation;
5:10 And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.
7:9 After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands;
7:10 And cried with a loud voice, saying, Salvation to our God which sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb.
7:11 And all the angels stood round about the throne, and about the elders and the four beasts, and fell before the throne on their faces, and worshipped God,
7:12 Saying, Amen: Blessing, and glory, and wisdom, and thanksgiving, and honour, and power, and might, be unto our God for ever and ever. Amen.
7:13 And one of the elders answered, saying unto me, What are these which are arrayed in white robes? and whence came they?
7:14 And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which came out of[from] great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.
7:15 Therefore are they before the throne of God, and serve him day and night in his temple: and he that sitteth on the throne shall dwell among them.
7:16 They shall hunger no more, neither thirst any more; neither shall the sun light on them, nor any heat.
7:17 For the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed them, and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters: and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes.
19:1 And after these things I heard a great voice of much people in heaven, saying, Alleluia; Salvation, and glory, and honour, and power, unto the Lord our God:
19:2 For true and righteous are his judgments: for he hath judged the great whore, which did corrupt the earth with her fornication, and hath avenged the blood of his servants at her hand.
19:3 And again they said, Alleluia And her smoke rose up for ever and ever.
19:4 And the four and twenty elders and the four beasts fell down and worshipped God that sat on the throne, saying, Amen; Alleluia.
19:5 And a voice came out of the throne, saying, Praise our God, all ye his servants, and ye that fear him, both small and great.
19:6 And I heard as it were the voice of a great multitude, and as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of mighty thunderings, saying, Alleluia: for the Lord God omnipotent reigneth.
19:7 Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready.
2Thessalonians
2:8 And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:
2:9 Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,
2:10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
2:11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:
2:12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.
1Thessalonians
5:1 But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you.
5:2 For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.
5:3 For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.
5:4 But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.
5:5 Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.
5:6 Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.
5:7 For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night.
5:8 But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.
5:9 For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,
Revelation
12:7 And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels,
12:8 And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven.
12:9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.
12:12 Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time.
9:1 And the fifth angel sounded, and I saw a star fall from heaven unto the earth: and to him was given the key of the bottomless pit.
9:2 And he opened the bottomless pit; and there arose a smoke out of the pit, as the smoke of a great furnace; and the sun and the air were darkened by reason of the smoke of the pit.
9:11 And they had a king over them, which is the angel of the bottomless pit, whose name in the Hebrew tongue is Abaddon, but in the Greek tongue hath his name Apollyon.
17:8 The beast that thou sawest was, and is not; and shall ascend out of the bottomless pit, and go into perdition: and they that dwell on the earth shall wonder, whose names were not written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, when they behold the beast that was, and is not, and yet is.
17:9 And here is the mind which hath wisdom. The seven heads are seven mountains, on which the woman sitteth.
17:10 And there are seven kings: five are fallen, and one is, and the other is not yet come; and when he cometh, he must continue a short space.
17:11 And the beast that was, and is not, even he is the eighth, and is of the seven, and goeth into perdition.
17:12 And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, which have received no kingdom as yet; but receive power as kings one hour with the beast.
17:13 These have one mind, and shall give their power and strength unto the beast.
17:14 These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful.
17:16 And the ten horns which thou sawest upon the beast, these shall hate the whore, and shall make her desolate and naked, and shall eat her flesh, and burn her with fire.
17:17 For God hath put in their hearts to fulfil his will, and to agree, and give their kingdom unto the beast, until the words of God shall be fulfilled.
17:18 And the woman which thou sawest is that great city, which reigneth over the kings of the earth.

QUOTE
Satan will come to the earth at the beginning of the tribulation period to open the abyss
He will release his "antichrist" Abaddon-Apollyon
Satn doesn't come down to earth to release his "antichrist." He is himself has been shut up in the Bottomless Pit since after the war of AD70. During the end times of the so-called "Millennium," (actually, the Church Age,) an angel will come down, like a falling star, and release Satan and all the creatures. Christians will be sealed, so that they cannot be hurt.
REVELATION 9
1 And the fifth angel sounded, and I saw a star fall from heaven unto the earth: and to him was given the key of the bottomless pit.
2 And he opened the bottomless pit; and there arose a smoke out of the pit, as the smoke of a great furnace; and the sun and the air were darkened by reason of the smoke of the pit.
11 And they had a king over them, which is the angel of the bottomless pit, whose name in the Hebrew tongue is Abaddon, but in the Greek tongue hath his name Apollyon.

therefore, contrary the mainstream depictions of the rapture ("left behind" series and such), this catching away/resurrection event will immediately precede the wrath of god. there will not be an undefined time period between the rapture and the wrath of god to allow those left behind to quietly ponder what has happened. the rapture is a rescue, and those taken make a last-minute escape.

I basicly agree with this timing scenario.
[could quibble a bit- does "immediately" mean a split second ? Or maybe a few weeks ?]
Most/many Saints will be murdered/beheaded by the "beast" and his worshippers. Saints will not take the "mark".
When the lost have worshipped the "beast"/his "image" and taken his "mark", ........ at some point the test will be over.
Everyones eternal fate will be sealed. Time to "rapture" those Saints not murdered [maybe in jail, maybe in psych ward,
maybe living in forest etc].
When all Saints in heaven, [Rev 15] time for wrath of God to fall on Kingdom of Beast. [Rev 16]

Jesus did say it would be like in the days of Noah and or Lot.
None of which were raptured but delivered or else Jesus would have said it would be like the days of Enoch....

The Lord's "harpazo" action for immortalizing the church is one event
The tribulation period is the next event
These are not the same events
The first is for believers .... the second is against unbelievers
The gathering [the Lord's call for the church] ..... and then the day of the Lord .... the time of His wrath against those who refuse to believe the truth about Him that He has given in scripture
Thinking that they are the same is in error and will create nothing but confusion for those who do not understand the related scriptures
And many professing christians who believe this will find themselves in the tribulation period because they have refused to believe His promise to keep them from His wrath
It is the tribulation period of 7 years that will come upon the unbelieving world "like it was in the days of Noah"
The world at the time was ignoring the coming judgment of the flood
And Noah and his family were not immortalized for a reason .... there would have been no humans left to populate the earth after the flood
We have a similar condition today ... the world is not expecting the Lord's coming judgment of the tribulation period
The world of unbelief just continues in living without regard for their condition and ripeness for the Lord's unmitigated wrath
Sudden destruction will come upon them .... without warning
One also needs to understand that there will be surviving believing mortals who will not be resurrected [immortalized] at the tnd of the tribulation period
If all believers were to be immortalized at the end of the tribulation period as post-tribulational thinking teaches
.... there would be no believing mortals left to populate the Lord's coming millennial kingdom on the earth
There will be as the scriptures do tell
Only those who repent and are of the tribulation believers who hold on to their faith and are killed will be resurrected at the end of the period
No one else
If one is found refuting the Lord's intentions at His intervention for what ever reasons and ends up in the tribulation period there is a good chance that one will turn against Him during the period
... and or will be killed in unbelief and lost forever
A very high risk position to take
He has said one must be ready without a doubt
This is the only way
Many think they are saved today and are not .... this is a severe problem for these
.... multitudes have been deceived by false prophets and false teachers, either knowingly or unknowingly ..... and sometimes willingly
Falsehoods always target one's salvation position either directly or indirectly .... and ultimately
The rest of the world does not care about these things
..... like it was in the days of Noah so shall it be
And there would be no purpose of the Lord's "harpazo" action to keep living believers from His hour [time] of trial if it was scheduled at the end of it

I agree, Immortality.
All TRUE believers will be rescued at the 'last minute'... before the last 5 months of GOD'S WRATH (Rev. 9:5).
Hi Annie,
You're thowing something into the mix I had not thought of before. The five months, to my understanding, is the tribulation of Satan. Why do you see it as God's Wrath? Two of the considerations to me is that locusts and scorpions are associated with Satan and too, all of the prophecies about Satan are given in months....lunar.
What am I not seeing that you are?

Hi Judi,
The last five months... exactly 153 days, is when God pours out His wrath and total destruction on all who remain after He removes His elect.
A good explanation of the last five months, based totally on the Bible, is discussed in this 60-page book. I highly recommend it:

The 5 month time lapse of the inflictions caused by the abyss angelics is only part of the tribulation period .... a very small part
There is no way that the tribulation of the Lord's coming judgment will transpire in just 5 months
Many things will take place during the period outlined by the scriptures .... all part of the Lord's coming judgment
Here are significant ones:
[Ezekiel 38,39] [Daniel 7:7-8; 7:23-25; 8:9-12; 8:23-25; 9:27; 11:36-45; 12:1-12] [Micah 5] [Zechariah 13.14] [Revelation 8:7-12; 9:1-11; 9:14-21; 11:2-13; 12:13-17; 13:5; 13:7-10; 13:11-17; 14:4-7; 14:14-20; 16:1-14; 16:18-21; 17:16-18; 18:1-21; 19:11-20]
Daniel gives the time frame of the period in chapters 9, and 12
1,260 days + 1,260 days [7 prophetic years] + 30 days
The tribulations of the Lord's wrath will extend for 2,550 [24 hour] days
He will specifically turn on the kingdom of the beast and his followers and destroy it in the next 30 days [Revelation 16; 19:11-20]
He will then appear on the earth just after the 2,550 days to the mortal survivors of the tribulation period and He will separate believers from unbelievers during the next 45 days [Daniel 12]
