Hey You.By Pink Floyd
The Wall
Roger Waters

Hey you, out there in the cold
Getting lonely, getting old
Can you feel me?
Hey you, standing in the aisles
With itchy feet and fading smiles
Can you feel me?
Hey you, dont help them to bury the light
Don't give in without a fight.

Hey you, out there on your own
Sitting naked by the phone
Would you touch me?
Hey you, with you ear against the wall
Waiting for someone to call out
Would you touch me?
Hey you, would you help me to carry the stone?
Open your heart, I'm coming home.

But it was only fantasy.
The wall was too high,
As you can see.
No matter how he tried,
He could not break free.
And the worms ate into his brain.

Hey you, standing in the road
always doing what you're told,
Can you help me?
Hey you, out there beyond the wall,
Breaking bottles in the hall,
Can you help me?
Hey you, don't tell me there's no hope at all
Together we stand, divided we fall.

I only posted these lyrics becaue I was reminded of this song. I listened to it. It brought back so many memories. I cried. I sincerely love my old friends before I was saved. Those people are precious. They have a real heart and soul.

God save the world. I used to smoke out/smoke pot and drink a lot and such with The Wall (among a lot of other music) all the time. We would always say "I love you" to each other. I really did love them and I still do even though we were totally mislead youth at the time. We did have something truly spiritual going on. One of my old buddies ODed a few weeks ago. God have mercy on the KHCP (Kenosha Hard Core Punks).

Don't ever judge people, especially young people, based on their appearnance. God made everyone. Jesus suffered tremendously for all of these people.

Hah! You and I must be of the same generation! It is sort of ironic, recently I went and listened to some Pink Floyd songs and I know, I know (there are some d*ug) related one's, but and however! Some of the songs were quite prophetic in a personal way. I had them on my myspace but knew I'd receive some flack from 'christians' so removed them for their benefit.

I never smoke p*t or atleast I didn't inhale ROTFL... tongue.gif No seriously, I smoked it once or twice rolleyes.gif and found it stinky and nasty. I'm happy in my youth that there must have been a wonderful ministering messenger always saying "NO"!

Thanks for sharing!! Yes as commercialized as it has gotten..Jesus is Saviour smile.gif And one day; all will know that as a FACT. He is merciful and He is forgiving. And we just never know, someone could be doing something terrible and then all of sudden just stop and walk away. So we too should also be merciful and forgiving. Oh and patient wink.gif

Adam,

Thanks for sharing, I wish that I could say that I was innocent of fads even when those fads were harmful to the body, but in all truth I wasn't. And to tell you the truth I wasn't a Christian when I was a teenager... But the good news is my son who now is in College is a Christian. One must never underestimate the influence of parents. rolleyes.gif

The kids of today have some really visual tatoos and some pretty vivid hair colors. They are just making a statement as we ourselves did when we were their age. The young teens are looking deeply for who they are and why they were born. IN Fact, what a time to start picking these teens in the harvests for Christs. We just need to teach our kids to do the picking this time. Kids are better witnesses with Christ for other kids.

Gods Blessings,

Al
Latter Rain Adam
I hope to instill a selfless and nonjudgmental love into my own kids who are still very young. I just naturally look right past the hair, tatoos, clothes, etc. Part of this is because my old crowd was so over the top in these type of outward things. Nothing really shocks me after living as a part of that crowd.

I guess I can't help but wonder why so many of the kids today (especially guys) can so freely make themsleves look so andrognenous or even gay when they are usually really straight. Coming from a man who once wore fishnet pantyhose and thick, black eyeliner I shouldn't talk. But my style was not feminine as much as just rebelious and offensive. And my hair and clothes (besides that) did not look feminine at all. But I digress.

God has called us all to be a light in whatever fashion of a person he has made us to be. Some can preach. Some can love on people. Some can serve very good. Some can do other things. Whatever the case, we can all shine for Him to whomever has eyes to see our own particular wavelength of divine light. Hey, that was pretty deep!

Also, that song is quite deep. I take it to be about a young man reaching out to others for real fellowship, the kind that only God can really fulfill. My group of friends at the time were trying to be our own little sort of "church" at the time, without Jesus. We believed in free love (don't ask), sharing, sacrificing for each other, accepting each other, not judging each other, etc. We failed at all of that but we were living a fantasy at the time. It lasted for a little while. We really did have a sort of family for a while there. It was almost like a cult. Then as we matured and life dealt us more and more diffucult cards, wer went our seperate ways. But we all were, in our own individual ways, doing what that song said,

"Hey you, out there in the cold
Getting lonely, getting old
Can you feel me?
Hey you, standing in the aisles
With itchy feet and fading smiles
Can you feel me?
Hey you, dont help them to bury the light
Don't give in without a fight.

This reminds me of how we wanted so much to experience our yout to the fullest. We all came from broken or failing homes. I wanted to make a real difference in the world. I wanted to have faith in something so much. We all believed in the punk rock lie. It was basically like a religion to us, and it still is for most of my old friends today. They are all living out a fantasy lifestyle that "liberates" you from the norms of the world, but it is in reality an empty promise. It leads to death and emptiness, not to mention that it often leads to drug addiction disease, jail, broken lives, etc.

Hey you, out there on your own
Sitting naked by the phone
Would you touch me?
Hey you, with you ear against the wall
Waiting for someone to call out
Would you touch me?
Hey you, would you help me to carry the stone?
Open your heart, I'm coming home.

We all thought that sexual "freedom" and promiscuity was real living. We pressed against the normal and accepted norms of society in sex. We felt that being open and free was the answer. We thought that trying to make people think that we were crazy sickos was liberating. I know now that this was a satanic delusion, a carrot on a stick. Only Jesus can make us whole. Only Jesus can truly free our souls.

But it was only fantasy.
The wall was too high,
As you can see.
No matter how he tried,
He could not break free
And the worms ate into his brain.
..."

This is the inevitable transition into a broken spirit that many people with love and passion in their hearts end up in. I believed in the White Supremacist ideology. It eventually gave way to a more mature understanding of people. I could related to others and therefore I developed a compassion and acceptance for them.

After that, the punk rock lifestyle and worldview became the next best hope for me. In its time, that proves to be a totally empty fantasy that you needed to work real hard to maintain. I just couldn't spend myself on falsehood like that anymore. I was going through a lot. Then I came to Jesus.

Instead of letting the worms enter my brain and turning cold hearted, I turned to the one who could make me whole. He changed everything. I knew real love, real identity, real acceptance and real purpose for the first time. I could never find my identity in my appearance, my musical tastes, etc, any more. We are all just lost children of God in need of Jesus to bring us back to the real Father.

Alan :

You are teaching non-judgmental attitude in reaching others [youth] for the Messiah.

Thank you !

Jonah, passed judgment on the Ninevites (today, Iraq) . . . and here is your vine teaching !

THE WORM LESSON ------------- correct Adam, " instead of letting the worms enter my brain ... "

That is what happened with Jonah !

EXCERPT

5 Jonah went out and sat down at a place east of the city. There he made himself a shelter, sat in its shade and waited to see what would happen to the city. 6 Then the LORD God provided a vine and made it grow up over Jonah to give shade for his head to ease his discomfort, and Jonah was very happy about the vine. 7 But at dawn the next day God provided a worm, which chewed the vine so that it withered.

That is a creative and interesting observation, C7A.

I had (still have although things ar different ) a close friend who was a young woman. She was severely sexually and physically abused by her father. She was locked in her room without food, drinks or bathroom visits for two weeks. She sat in her room on fire and waited to die. Miraculously, a teenaged woman friend of hers (and a friend of mine) came by and looked into her window as the fire filled the room. She broke the window, pulled her friend out and her mother let the girl move in until the state took the situation over. She has been dealing with a number of issues since then, about 15 years ago.

We became very close friends, not romantically. I remember that whenever my mother would be around her at my house, my mother would treat her like she was a dirty piece of street scum. Everyone knew that my mother was a Christian. Now I try and be a witness of the gospel to the woman but I can't help but wonder what the woman's view of Christianity is based on her past experiences with my mother among other Christians. Granted, the girl had blue hair, piercings, tattoos and a punk rock clothing style. But I can't see why a mature Christian would treat any other human being like a piece of scum, ever. Aren't we supposed to be concerned with love for any and all people until they are dead? Jesus spent time with prostitutes and tax collectors. If only all God's people would look at the heart and not the outward appearance.

Jonah is not just a lesson to racists and religious sectarians. Jonah is a lesson to us that we should share the love that God has for all and any people, all the time.

Hiya Adam
I don't know why your mum was judgemental... all I can say is that we are all a work in progress and we all have areas which God is working on... it's just a shame this impacted the young woman in your life. You can pray for her though, knowing this may be a stronghold in her life.

It made me think when you said about loving your friends back then... I feel similar about my bunch of mates from the past... I have many of them on my facebook now but since we have immigrated it's not like I can easily re-establish a relationship with them and some are still into some pretty ungodly stuff. Sometimes I wonder if I should just pray over their profiles or something but I get very distracted. I might just go and do that now even if it's just 5 mins. I read up a bit on soul ties and that could be what explains the love. I'm not sure about this area but I'm sure that our prayers can make a difference, it's just a shame about your mate who OD'd sad.gif Hugs.

God bless x
