If no-one is in Hell today Elijah, then why in Revelation 20 does it say "and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them"? That only happens on the Day of Judgment, which hasn't happened yet. So common sense rules that if death and hell haven't yet delivered up the dead which were in them, then they must still be there. Unless common sense isn't common sense anymore.
This question is about "Hell" – and the thread title is about "Hell", and so this question is exactly on-topic.

(OK: In Rev.20 we have the picture of the Everlasting Gospel from Adam on. I will jump in between & give verses to explain the Book of this whole chapter. The problem is, is that one needs to understand Matt. 4:4's 'Every Word' & 2 Tim. 3:16-17! It takes in the BOOK as in 'ALL SCRIPTURE'! But whatever, we will see what it does for you young'ins?)
[1] And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand.
(Before creation, satan & his angels were here in the void empty earth, with no heavens or no light!! And when Christ returns, we are told that He comes with ALL of His angels & in His God/ly GLORY! And in 2 Thess. 2:8-9 we are told.. 'And then shall the Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall CONSUME with the spirit of His mouth, and [SHALL DESTROY WITH THE BRIGHTNESS OF HIS COMING: Even Him, whose coming is [after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders.]'
The Second Coming of Christ has the Saved ones caught up in the air & the dead 'in Christ' having their Resurrection FIRST! The wicked that are dead stay there, & the living wicked living will be killed as the verse states. That has all the wicked dead, and all the righteous going to heaven until the 1000 years are finished. satan and his angel crew are once again upon the depopulated earth, as it was in the beginning of time! Jer. 4:23-27 depicts this time period exactly as it was before creation. (compare Eccl. 1:9-10 & Eccl. 3:15 again) [No MAN, NO heavens! The Earth Without FORM & VOID!] and verse 27 even tells that.. 'yet, will I not make a full end'! But who could live with [NO light?? ] satan is here, and the Saints are in heaven! And.. AGAIN, [ALL THE WICKED ARE DEAD] waiting their resurrection to be executed according to their guilt. What are the Saints in heaven doing?? it told us in 1 Cor. 6:2-3.. 'Do you not know that the Saints [shall judge the world?] ... Know ye not that [we shall judge angels?] Also note John 5:28-29 the two resurrections, but it does not even hint that they are at the same time! The resurrection of LIFE, and the resurrection of DAMNATION! This will be the SECOND resurrection of these to die the second death!)
[2] And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years,
(satan & his crew of angels are bound in this literal set of circumstances, they have NO one alive to tempt or to destroy, they are literally bound with chains! As John depicts them as. And they will not be loosed until the wicked come out of their grave as unsaved as they went into it, at the closing of the 1000 years. But remember that these are the wicked from Adams time on! There are men who were giants in age, stature & intellect + warfare! and they will once again come up in the second resurrection as stated, (for the SAVED were resurrected First!) the same way that they went into their grave.. LOST!)
[3] And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season.
(When the 1000 years are finished, how is satan loose? It is because the huge number of all the DEAD are now to have their resurrection! They come out of their graves the same satanic way that they went into the grave, UNSAVED and having satan as their leader! But notice that satan is to be loosed for just a little season!)
[4] And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.
(Now you are coming to what the Saints will be doing during the 1000 year period! Paul had been 'Inspired' to tell us that we will take part in this judgement.)
[5] But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. (the compilers put the number 6 for the chapter in the wrong place, it should be here!) This is the first resurrection.
(OK: The rest of the DEAD are DEAD, and these wicked do not live again until the 1000 years are expired, and they are not in heaven except by [RECORD BOOKS], they ARE D-E-A-D and are judged by these accurate record books! See Eccl. 12:13-14 also)
[6] Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.
(If you move.. 'This is the first resurrection after the number 6, from verse 5, it then makes sense! Any way the saved who are resurrected First will never die again, while these wicked that were resurrected at the ending of the 1000 years will die an eternal death and will be punished according to their evil deeds! Compare Luke 12:47-48 & Obad. 1:16)
[7] And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison,

[8] And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea.
(Again, these are ALL of the wicked from Adam on! Think on that one! And in the heavenly City New Jerusalem are the 'Remnant' of earth's Saints. Now notice what satan & these wicked think that they are able to do!!)
[9] And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them.
(The next chapter tells the rest of the Truth. The holy City will once again be in the Land of Jerusalem's mount of Olives! See Zech. 14:1- 9's Prophecy! But you need to realize that the land of Israel today will be used for the devil's last deception! For it will not be used of the Lord until He cleanses the EARTH WITH FIRE, even the Heavens & the earth shall melt with fervent heat! anywhere that sinful mankind has polluted! See Rev. 6:14-17)
[10] And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.
(Here one needs to understand what the Word of God teaches as a whole on that topic! In Gen. we see that it takes the tree of Life to have one to live eternally. And we see in Rev. 22:1-2 that only the saved Saints will have access to the Tree of Life! Surely the wicked will not live forever with out getting out of hell/fire through out ETERNITY to eat of the tree of Life! And there are huge numbers of Scripture to teach that some are mistaken with this teaching!)
[11] And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.
(Surely this has been explained in Jer. 4 as well!)
[12] And I saw the d-e-a-d, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the d- e-a-d were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.
(OK: Now for any one that is Born Again that reads this, they can quickly find the Word of God telling us that these wicked ones are DEAD, and not alive in this judgement! And that their Executional stage of their Judgement is determined by the RECORD BOOKS ONLY! Remember that Christ said that when He came that He brought.. 'MY REWARD IS WITH ME'! SAVED OR LOST. This judgement time period for the Lost is now the Executional length of time for the wicked, which come forth for their SECOND DEATH!)
[13] And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.
[14] And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.
[15] And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.
