I'm enjoying the flora and fauna here in Hawaii. I got in about 10:30 last night and hardly slept at all. The moon was full and it was about 75 degrees. I decided to sneak down for a swim which was enjoyable.

Upon arriving at the air port to depart for my trip l removed my baggage and stepped onto the curve only to look down and find blood traveling down by hand on to the suit case. I had a small scratch and l must have bumped it and the blood was amazing.We had bandages but no Kleenex or paper towels. But l finally got it under control and it's fine today.

When l arrived at my final destination on the Big Island we didn't know how to get to the car rental place. I decided to quickly ask a man in a uniform and he said "Over there quick..You better hurry the shuttle is leaving." A man was standing in the street holding traffic back for us and l jostled from the curb and tripped over the wheel of my suit case and fell down face first in the middle of the road skinning myself in several places and giving me a few new aches and pains.. It was kind of funny..lol..but l wasn't laughing..I rolled over and set up in the road in dismay and was swarmed by warm friendly hands that insisted on helping me and carrying my luggage..Such nice people and l didn't have to manage my bags. But l was shaking for about a half hour after wards.

The best thing about this trip so far is that l have time to spend alone...The next best thing is the plants...my my my...and we haven't even started yet.
All l can say is "Whats that.. Whats that..look at that..."

I hope to send a picture soon. There's a Japanese soaking tub in my room. That means it's deep and you can sit up to your neck in the water... which helps my aches..Val..you're not the only one ..

Miki, we have friends here, that are native Hawaiians. They are the sweetest and most caring people we know. I will be praying that you have an enjoyable vacation there, and a safe and uneventful trip home. I always wanted to visit Hawaii...Enjoy everything there, for me, too! Take a lot of pictures!

Aaahhh Miki! I am sorry about your fall and your aches and pains! Looks like you and I have a thing or two in
common! I too took quite a fall myself today. I pray that the rest of your trip is nice and relaxing. I am
sure it is just beautiful there. Enjoy the wonderful sites and the great food. Cannot wait to hear about your
trip when you get home.

So l heard....It's bad in my area but my personal home is ok.. many are flooded out. Roads closed landslides bridges shut down..

Where l am right now l havent closed the doors or windows since l've been here. I guess they stay open all year round.
Some of them don't even have glass... just wooden shutters..The birds sing night and day.

I went to the Volcano today.. They had a sulfur dioxide alert in affect. I was light headed.







I walked along this rim trail today. It's where l was getting slightly ill.
Not from these stream vents but from the plume out in the distance in the second image.
In the second image it is a sea of black. It is so large...the picture doesn't do justice. It gives off constant heat.
Like a fire place whose flame is out but radiates. Then on the way out we stopped at a black sand beach.

I was so excited when I saw that you posted... couldn't WAIT to see more pictures.

They are amazing.

Oh Miki- what the Lord must be saying through this. I can only wait to hear.

and then we discovered a web right out side the window and l got a close up look.

Yes, well I'm a Scandinavian ...I quickly started to melt.

It's good to be back to a cool climate...been there done that...I was a tourist fool in a few cases.

This is where l stayed. It had an open covered wooden deck with open stairs going down.

I have no idea which Island Obama was on. I did pick up a free press paper though...There are actually political conservatives in Hawaii.

No table fitting your description of where l stayed. I didn't go into the downstairs however..
I stayed at a personal sanctuary for pastors and missionaries.
