16:2 "Thou shalt not take thee a wife, neither shalt thou have sons or daughters in this place.
Jeremiah was told...he would not fall into idolatry with false religion (the wife)...he would not have children....raise others in that false relgion.
16:3 For thus saith the Lord concerning the sons and concerning the daughters that are born in this place, and concerning their mothers that bare them, and concerning their fathers that begat them in this land;
16:4 They shall die of grievous deaths; they shall not be lamented; neither shall they be buried; but they shall be as dung upon the face of the earth: and they shall be consumed by the sword, and by famine; and their carcases shall be meat for the fowls of heaven, and for the beasts of the earth.
Their "grievous death" is their spiritual death. They aren't lamented or buried because....they don't know they are dead!To God...they are "as dung" upon the earth.....Dead men walking.
The famine is for "hearing the words of God" [Amos 8:11] They hear words, religious words...Satan's sword, but not those of the Father. Because of their ensnarement in false religion they are no more than flesh for the fowls of heaven....fallen angels, and beasts of the earth....those not of God, to dine on....and they do! False teachers and preachers preying on them (not praying for them).
16:5 For thus saith the Lord, Enter not into the house of mourning, neither go to lament nor bemoan them: for I have taken away My peace from this people, saith the Lord, even loving kindness and mercies.
16:6 Both the great and the small shall die in this land: they shall not be buried, neither shall men lament for them, nor cut themselves, nor make themselves bald for them.
Again....they aren't buried or mourned as they won't know they are dead...spiritually.
16:8 Thou shalt not also go into the house of feasting, to sit with them to eat and to drink.
16:9 For thus saith the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will cause to cease out of this place in your eyes, and in your days, the voice of mirth, and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom, and the voice of the bride.
The "house of feasting." Church. God's house where His children go to be fed truth...but instead, they feast on deception. We are not to take part in that! The voice of Christ is gone from that place...His Word, and our voice, the voice of His bride should also not be in that place.
I have heard of two definitions for the apostasy of the end of days. One is that believers will fall away from God....the other is believers will fall away from the churches. Perhaps that is when, "I will cause to cease out of this place...the voice of the bride."
