Full Version: Do You Have A Television?
Christian-Forum.net > General discussion > What do you say?

I don't, but when i do it's very rare and it's often religious shows such like “Songs of praise“.. I was Taught by my Parents that TV is just a tool of manipulation/control, invented just to tell people how to live. Some people worship the television and it’s becoming a false idol, so meny people waste there lifes away in front of a TV screen.. maybe they do have a point?

We only have one TV in my house and it's hardly ever on.

So what are your opinions? Do you have a TV? Do you think TV is a dangerous tool?
ChildofGod
This sounds silly, but I do most of my TV watching while at work. Helps pass the time while on midnight shift. I don't watch much TV at home. All I have at home is rabbit ears.
Meshuganah
I have a HUGE t.v......rear projection with all the home theatre stuff.
I want to see it all happen on FOX news or CBS and hear it in stereo with sensuround and subsonic bass. I'l crank that sucker right up and let the neighbours know all about the end times when I see it all come to pass!

I mostly watch Discovery Channel, History etc and the news...Its Cool!

Meshuganah

I'm big enough to know what I should be enjoying and what is rubbish or too worldly! for example Big Brother and Fantasy Island and all those reality shows are just C--p!

So help me, the devil made me do it! M.
Simple
How about religious versions of Big Brother ............

add three Shiites , 2 Sufis , a Mormon , 2 Catholics , 3 Christians , a Moonie , 2 Dalai Lamas ,

and what would you get ?

LOL! A religious reality show? Do they have that?

I haven't been watching much television anymore.....quite the change for me. If I do, it is mostly the History Channel, Discovery, Biography (great Bible studies about people on there), general news, Christian news. I do like Joel Osteen lately. He has a great positive message. OH...and THE COLTS!!! wink.gif

Mostly though, I've discovered that televison is junk and just brainwashing food for most people. sad.gif
kim48
I have a T.V. in my house and it is on Fox news all day. (I like noise in the house now that the kids are grown). I follow the new overseas and here also. With what is happening in Isreal I can follow what is going to happen in the bible.
My husband favorite shows are the cooking shows, Rachel Ray and Emerial.
There is alot of bad and good on televison and a on and off button.

So you trade the TV for an internet? interesting.....

As of late I don't watch as much TV as I did growing up... don't have time. And I have seen the effects of sitting down and coming zoned out... Which after a long day at work or something... its relaxing. Whereas, reading would just continue to fry my already fried head..(in those situations)...

I'm sensitive to skin. So I avoid deliberate attempts...

I watch the show Survivor religiously. Love it!! If its on and I'm not busy I'll watch CSI, Cold Case, Ghost Whisperer, 7th Heaven, My name is Earl.

Cable? Satellite?

I mostly enjoy movies.

I watch very little TV these days. I keep an eye on the news and some current affairs programs and i also watch the odd documentary. Knowing that TV is a kind of brain washing device does help one in countering its influence in their lives. Its good also to know what they want you to know. And it is good to know what they want you to think. Got to keep an eye on the adversary. wink.gif

What are you Assuming?

I didn’t trade, with the internet you have the choice to choose what you want to do and where you want to go.. I got the internet to help me study for collage, but i also got into bible prophecy, news and politics at the same time and that's way i still use the net.

Yes, i know the net isn't a safer environment , but as i said once already "It comes down to choice of where you want to go and what you want to do" With TV, you can hardly plan what you want to watch on TV and what time you want it on.
Tzeitel
I got TV and cable. I watch Documentries, News stuff, God TV and some Soaps!!! I never have the TV on during the daytime.

You just got to have sense as to what you watch really as you can let the whole world through your TV and into your house.

Our t.v. is on most of the day. With children they watch alot of kids shows. I don't sit and watch t.v. for the most part. If I have it on for myself I have on CNN or my Christian shows. That is it for me.
Boanerges
I hear preachers talking about the evils of TV and there is obviously room for that. But it has been instituted by God as a world wide media dissemination device. The gospel gets preached too. I wish I could view more Christian TV on a daily basis, but I can't just now. It was a Kenneth Copeland Ministries event that got the ball rolling in my life. I know there is much to be desired in many efforts of "pray TV" but at least we try.

I think that as long as it lasts, until the plug gets pulled, we will all be able to see events unfold in real time and that could well include many end times scenarios. I would not be surprised to see Anderson Cooper standing at the dome of the rock and showing pictures of the pomp and circumstance of the antichrist taking his seat in the holiest of all.

Mat 24:27 For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

God can do what He wants, but He might be seen on TV in this manner...who knows?

I have a one liner I like to use and it fits here...

The world ends tomorrow! Watch it in colour on CNN!"

In the 70's a pastor at our church convinced everyone that the tv was pure evil-unitll he was caught with his little tv watching hockey.Thankfully there is the learning channel and discovery channel.I like Nanny 911,Baby story, Dog the bounty hunter,The one with the 2 cleaning ladies,I like the reality shows and sitcoms from the 80's and Everybody loves raymond. The news, thats about it.I watch the christian shows online.I think there can be alot of evil on tv,like the ghost chasers and other occult shows, sports addictions, soap opera addictions, thats why there are buttons on the remote for changing the channel.I didnt have cable while growing up and my education suffered for it.Kids knew stuff long before I did and had a greater understanding because it was explained in detail on cable shows. The kids with cable were smarter.

If you did watch the show regularily you would see that he has often said thank the good lord for repentance and forgiveness because I need it,just like the rest of us. You cant see his heart mabe some of those occasions he does say Oh dear God,he is in fact praying. That man does alot of Good.I have heard him speak of forgiveness, salvation,he talks to these guys,he tells them to find a good church. With a high stress job like he has perhaps religiosity needs to be put aside some times for flawed humanity.I know I couldnt do his job and hold my tongue.Street people dont relate to preachers in suits-thats why they relate so well to dog.Did you see his interview on cnn.It was very good.

Michelle, what I have seen of the show is Dog praying with his people to Jesus for protection as they go out to capture the people they are after. Then I see(hear) Dog f***ing this, that and the other thing. To me, he appears to be a christian until you hear him upset. Then his talk does not go with his walk smile.gif

Only in the eurpoean culture is the f-word a bad word.In fact there are many words in the bible which we call swear words, there was a group of staunch I believe baptists, who wanted the bible re-written and those words removed.I believe that is worse than the word itself. For us here to be "rooted" or use the word rooted isnt unusual, but use that word in australia and youre in big trouble, its the equilavent of telling someone to go f themselves.Just because we see a word as being bad doesnt mean it really is,are christians going to stop saying rooted, not likely.I'm sure there are many more around the world that we use regularily.Just like flipping the bird here is bad-its a good luck sign somewhere else.

Originally, this was a quite acceptable word! It was recorded in a dictionary in 1598 (John Florio's A World of Words). It is remotely derived from the Latin futuere and Old German ficken meaning 'to strike or penetrate', which had the SLANG meaning 'to copulate'. Eric Partridge, a famous etymologist, said that the German word was related to the Latin words for pugilist, puncture, and prick. The word, which entered English in the late 15th century, became more rare in print in the 18th century when it came to be regarded as vulgar. It was even banned from the Oxford English Dictionary. In 1960, Grove Press (in the US) won a court case permitting it to print the word legally for the first time in centuries -- in D.H. Lawrence's Lady Chatterley's Lover (written in 1928).

My children have label, listed and classified just about every animal on the planet. I love to go to the zoo with them because I don't have to dig my reading glasses out to read the signs. I just ask them. They tell me what it is, where it comes from, what it eats, and whether it is endangered or not just from the discovery and animal channel. Their favorite shows, and that was choosing on their own, are the animal shows and "most extreme animal" shows. Oh, and the Planet's Funniest Animals and the All New Planet's Funniest Animals.

TV has it's moments. The learned to read as much from Read Between the Lions as from books. They have always hated Telly Tubbies.

I've joked with people about:
I don't have any confidence in a "christian" who has a TV in his home.

Then , I tell them that we have 4 TV's in our home.

**************

Much of TV is soft porn.
But, the same is true of many magazines, movies, the shopping mall, the Sunday School, the NFL Cheerleaders, novels, talk shows, 'soap operas', advertizements, the beach and the mountains (look at how people dress themselves), etc

One of my friends goes to the night-clubs on Saturday nite, then Sunday School and Church on Sunday morning. I don't know how he does it.
BUT! Not everything that I do would pass his inspection , either.

*******************

At my home, we have only broadcast TV. We would have Cable TV if we had plenty of money.
One problem is:
If we had Cable, my daughters (16 years old) would probably watch more trash-TV and Satan-TV than they're watching now.

****************

In the last several years, I watch a lot less Prime-time TV than before. I needed to work and make money. TV is so awful and sinful. And silly. This Forum is better than most TV. Jesus never watched TV.

****************

You can deduce the spiritual condition of viewers from the TV that they watch.

That is really the truth...lots of connection.

I noticed that my daughter was getting a little "snappy" once. She had become interested in a show called "That's So Raven" which in a PG show. But I had not taken the time to watch it with her first as I usually do and always will now.

She wasn't spiteful or hateful, just...."snappy". Little quick come backs and crisp words. When I had enough, I knew it had to be coming from somewhere. We are homeschooled and I decide their influences at this point. So I watched the show and the teens are "friends" but they talk to each other like friendship is only a convience to their own growing up. Selfish words and ..... not hateful but mean. Always a snappy come back to their peers as if to say "you know, you haven't got the sense God gave a goose, but you're my friend".

I forbid that show...she pouted....then she became herself again and THANKED ME!

My kids are so good...

Before I was born again I was like them all and used the Lord's name vainly many times. Since being born again I can say I have never done that or wanted to do that in nearly ten years. God's Spirit will not allow it. If it is being done then there is no "Spirit" of God in it.

I thought maybe I misjudged this guy but I was right the first time I saw him....don't like the show.

Before I was born again I was like them all and used the Lord's name vainly many times. Since being born again I can say I have never done that or wanted to do that in nearly ten years. God's Spirit will not allow it. If it is being done then there is no "Spirit" of God in it.

Actually there is a server thing that removes words like that. I posted a scripture with the word "---" as in donkey in it and it was auto removed...please don't say it was me.

Matter of fact it did it here....

Just the fact that somebody programed it to be removed proves my point.
I'm not condoning swearing or taking the lords name in vain, but to get so religious about it and try to say that a christian will never lose their temper and swear is a load of bunk. Get real. The unsaved can smell religiosity a mile away.I find it interresting that nobody commented on my "dirty" scriptures, and there ARE more. Its religiosity that makes people want to remove certain scriptures or words from the bible.Just mabe God wants to keep us at a human level. I dont like Dogs swearing but like I said, he himself has said "thank the good Lord for forgiveness and repentence I need it the same as everyone else".Who are we to judge, how do we not know that he doesnt go home at night and get on his knees before God.God is obviously blessing him.Who knows how many have been saved and turned their lives around because of him.The religiosity needs to stop.

We have a television but we rarely watch any "actual TV"...we watch a lot of videos instead...not just because our lives are a bit hectic at times but because that way when we do watch something, we pick it out together and we know we won't have to be surprised by any of the content. We watch a lot of older/family movies, cartoons/kids' shows, Christian-theme movies, Bible-based programs and educational shows....and try to actually catch "live TV" (the news) two or three times a week. But we control the TV...instead of letting it control and dictate our schedules and lives.

About this issue (TV), I'd like to share this article that I've read a few weeks ago. God bless you all, Luiz.

TV, a blessing or a tool of the devil?

Can there be any real doubt about this question? Can anyone who loves God and studies their Bible really deny that much harm has resulted from “watching” TV? But since we are living in a TV generation, many who profess to be Christians that are in their fifties or younger, seem to be oblivious to this since it has always been around in their lifetime and they have already spent so much time with it.
Profanity
Since the invention of the TV it has gradually become more vile and demonic over the years. It has been said that Clark Gable was the first person to use profanity in Gone With The Wind. In our day, this seems like kid’s stuff compared to what is heard and seen. In our cartoon, we have a person whose mind is in neutral as he watches and hears things that have often been produced from godless Hollywood. Such has become a habit for many, much like any other kind of addiction of the flesh, that one needs to turn from. Misusing God’s holy name on TV is semi-common, even though this is a very serious sin:
You shall not misuse the name of the LORD your God, for the LORD will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses his name (Exo 20:7).
Notice also Psa 139:2:
They speak of you with evil intent; your adversaries misuse your name.
If you call yourself a “Christian,” how can you just sit back and allow these wicked people to blaspheme God’s holy name in your house and not be angered to the point of turning from it? Have you forsaken your first love (Rev 2:4)? Even using euphemisms are not proper for a Christian.
Loss Of Time
Also, from the cartoon it is apparent that this unclean habit of TV watching has a hypnotic, intoxicating effect even to the place of taking some or part of one’s time away from personal Scripture study. (Note: Before the invention of this vile tool the Bible was not in competition with the TV in our raging spiritual battle. Television is one problem the Christians in the days of the Apostles never had to battle with.)
Ignorance Of God’s Word
Perhaps TV is part of the reason why there is such general ignorance of the Bible and false doctrine in Christian circles. It is so bad that it seems the average professing Christian knows the TV stars and sports figures better than the characters in the Bible. They can’t remember where certain verses are in the Scriptures but they know the characters, times and channels of their favorite TV shows!
What Is He Watching?
Getting back to our cartoon picture, what is the man in the cartoon watching? Though we can’t be sure, several possibilities are:
He is watching one of the innumerable detailed, graphic sexual scenes shown in the course of a month.
He has tuned into one of the many talk shows where they are discussing one of the perverted but common things that is of interest to the sinful nature, but that also spiritually defiles the viewers.
He is watching a violent, brutal beating and murder take place that is real to life.
TV Is Sin Desensitizing
The TV viewer is certainly being slowly desensitized to the evils of the world as the world comes into his home and mind through the TV. (Note: He doesn’t have to go out into the world -- he allows the world with all of its evils to invade his precious home setting.) If others in his family, or even his friends, would see the same pictures and hear the same words they too could be spiritually defiled as well. Have you ever consider the seriousness of this?
Jesus said to his disciples: “Things that cause people to sin are bound to come, but woe to that person through whom they come. It would be better for him to be thrown into the sea with a millstone tied around his neck than for him to cause one of these little ones to sin. So watch yourselves” (Luke 17:1-3).

The aforementioned Scripture is especially indicting for parents who use TV as a babysitter. TV might hold children’s attention but it also exposes them to wicked words, sights and the world’s deadly values that can lead them into sin and away from God. Also, cartoons are filled with violence. See Gen 6:11-13 to learn how serious this is.

Subtle Sin Defilement
What are some of the subtle things that are happening to those who watch TV? They are being desensitized to the evils of divorce, sexual immorality, “living together,” suicide, materialism, anger, violence, murder, rape, revenge, lying, cheating, stealing, hatred, homosexuality and much more.
In addition, chances are he is gradually becoming lukewarm, if he is still a Christian at all. Regarding this danger, Jesus taught:

So, because you are lukewarm -- neither hot nor cold -- I am about to spit you out of my mouth (Rev 3:16).
Note: The divorce and promiscuity rates in society have escalated, as TV portrays these evils as commonplace and normal. God hates divorce (Mal 2:16), and immorality will exclude one from the Kingdom (1 Cor 6:9,10; Eph 5:5-7). How God must hate TV!
TV, The Lust-Generator
All of that is serious enough but what about the lust that this tool from the devil is generating in viewers’ hearts? Regarding this the Lord taught:
But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart” (Mat 5:28).
It is our conviction that more adultery is being committed before the TV, as viewers watch it and lust in their hearts, than in all the brothels put together! After all, isn’t this the reason many dress immodestly on TV (and in society) as they do? Notice what the Bible says about modest apparel:
I also want women to dress modestly, with decency and propriety, not with braided hair or gold or pearls or expensive clothes (1 Tim 2:9).
Lusting in the heart will damn one’s soul and must be firmly resisted:
If your right eye causes you to sin, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell (Mat 5:29).
Notice what righteous Job did about lust:
I made a covenant with my eyes not to look lustfully at a girl (Job 31:1).
Often women on TV seemingly dress to try to get men to lust after them. Such are no better than prostitutes, as far as leading people into sexual sin.
Savage Wolves In Sheep’s Clothing On TV
Regarding religious TV, there are many savage wolves in sheep’s clothing openly teaching heretical things on TV like You cannot out sin the grace of God, as eternal security teacher Charles Stanley has taught in the past! Imagine the danger a savage wolf poses to a sheep (Christian)! This reflects the danger of a false prophet (Mat 7:15). Christians are to guard their hearts (Prov 4:23). Among other ways, this is done by protecting yourself from such Satanic teachings as eternal security and others. Scripture declares:
I urge you, brothers, to watch out for those who cause divisions and put obstacles in your way that are contrary to the teaching you have learned. Keep away from them. For such people are not serving our Lord Christ, but their own appetites. By smooth talk and flattery they deceive the minds of naive people (Rom 16:17,18).
False teachers and their lies cause divisions and deadly deceptions and must be avoided. False teachers are, therefore, very dangerous and this alone is cause enough to spend less time watching religious programs and more time directly in the Bible reading, rereading and pondering the precious eternal truths that God has given mankind, and then putting them into practice (Mat 7:24; Luke 8:21; James 1:22). Certainly some good has resulted from religious TV and Christian videos, but the harm far outweighs the good.
TV Wastes Precious Time
Friend, don’t deceive yourself: The truth is TV, among all of its other evils, is also a waste of precious time that could be used serving God. Since we are all going to account for our free time, among other things at the Judgment, we must take these spare time opportunities seriously and use them to bring forth good fruit. Remember, Jesus taught:
Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire (Mat 7:19).
God wants gain from his children. The servant of God who was given money (talent) was expected to bring forth gain but was lazy and failed. Notice, there was no eternal security for him:
His master replied, “You wicked, lazy servant! So you knew that I harvest where I have not sown and gather where I have not scattered seed? Well then, you should have put my money on deposit with the bankers, so that when I returned I would have received it back with interest. Take the talent from him and give it to the one who has the ten talents. For everyone who has will be given more, and he will have an abundance. Whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken from him. And throw that worthless servant outside, into the darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth” (Mat 25:26-30).
Entertainment And Sports
Furthermore, the Bible never shows general entertainment as part of the life of a Christian. Neither does it ever state viewing sports as being exemplary or even normal for a Christian. Dear friend, turn from your TV and stop allowing the devil to use it in your life to your own spiritual harm. Remember 2 Tim 2:4 and 2 Tim 2:16:
No one serving as a soldier gets involved in civilian affairs -- he wants to please his commanding officer.
Avoid godless chatter, because those who indulge in it will become more and more ungodly.
TV, The Enemy Of Holiness
Christians are called to live holy lives (2 Tim 1:9). In fact, it is imperative to live this way to enter the kingdom of God:
Make every effort to live in peace with all men and to be holy; without holiness no one will see the Lord (Heb 12:14).
Consider also the following:
Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God (Mat 5:8).
The one who sows to please his sinful nature, from that nature will reap destruction; the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up (Gal 6:8,9).
We are also to come out from the world, be separate and keep ourselves from its spiritual pollutants:
Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness? What harmony is there between Christ and Belial? What does a believer have in common with an unbeliever? What agreement is there between the temple of God and idols? For we are the temple of the living God. As God has said: “I will live with them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they will be my people. Therefore come out from them and be separate, says the Lord. Touch no unclean thing, and I will receive you. I will be a Father to you, and you will be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty” (2 Cor 6:14-18).
Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world (James 1:27).
You adulterous people, don’t you know that friendship with the world is hatred toward God? Anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God (James 4:4).
Unscriptural Excuses
For Watching TV
I’m lonely.
I’m tired and just want to relax.
I watch only shows like Little House on the Prairie and Angels on Assignment.
I watch only “Christian” stations and never the X-rated shows.
I watch only the educational channel.
Everyone watches TV.
We’re not under the law so it’s permissible.
What else am I supposed to do?
Watching TV helps to prepare me for bed time.
I worked all day; now it’s time for me to enjoy myself.
There’s more to life than just reading the Bible.
Commercials
If you say you watch only the “clean” shows and the news, what about the beer and all the flesh-exciting commercials that are shown in between the scenes with women scantily dressed in a provocative way?
Can We Live Without TV?
Is it possible to survive without watching TV in our day? Absolutely! Serious Christians have been doing this for a long time. You can too, but you must battle against the devil’s subtle temptations of TV viewing. Remember, we are battling for eternity! Your eternal soul and the souls of those around you hang in the balance. If you view the Christian life as anything less than this you have already been lulled to sleep by your enemy, the devil, who is trying to destroy your soul. One final question, now that the convicting power of the Holy Spirit has been speaking to you as you read these truths (assuming you’re like many), what are you going to do about changing?

A television is a tool just like the internet and all the pop up ads we get.
I grew up in a church where tv's were not allow by members. It was back in the 60s when the war was going. My parents had a telvision so we could watch the news.
As Christains we need to be aware of what is going on around us. We need to see the good and the bad so we can teach our childern. There is a channel changer on all tv sets. In my house it's me!
In this day and age we cant hide our heads in the sand. We have to see what is going on around us. We have to prepare our childern as to what is going on in the world.
There is not any difference between the internet and the television. If I didnt belive in a televison because it could be a sin than I wouldnt watch it. I would also be taking off my web site and burning my computer.
My opinion of course!

I believe that there are christians who can safely and wisely use both TV and internet. This forum shows that internet can be used to serve God's purposes.
How could we learn about what is going on in Israel, and compare this information with our end-time studies, without them? There are other valuable uses for them, I'm sure.
Notwithstanding, most of the people, including christians, stumble and fall (hard) when using them, just like in this smilie below... 1dsz5f1.gif
There is no doubt about that the devil uses TV and internet in order to minister to the entire world. That is why there are color TVs in virtually all the shacks (you can tell by the antennas and satellite dishes on the roofs) even in the poorest slums in Brazil. Sometimes people lacks the refrigerator, but not the TV.
In Brazil there are TVs in every store, restaurant, and everywhere you go. People is addicted to it. This year there will be a soccer's world cup (in june - 06.06!!!) and the entire world will literally freeze in front of the TV (americans use to be the only exception, I don't know now).
So, I think (IMHO) that we can moderately use TV and internet, but also that we should teach people that they should be aware of the risks, just like the government does to smokers.

Kim I agree with you even most of your children now days have learned in schools on how to work computers. As parents I believe God has gave us scens enough on what and what not to watch or let be watched. Its the same as a computer if we dont control things on it then it also can be used for a tool of the devils just as a T.V can. I like you grew up with not watching nothing but the news on it because of the old fashion christian beliefs that it was wrong to watch it. As I grew older and have gotten in my 50s I see things now that affects the mind more than a T.V. I have grandkids that I see letting there minds be wasted on vedio games and playstations. I have seen where it even affects there ability to think of nothing but violence and how to use guns and fight all the time. A child lives with what it is allowed to do and personely I can deal with the T.V. better than vedio games. God gives us enough of knowledge not to let the T.V. interfere with our reading the Bible and putting the T.V. before Him. I think the T.V does serve as an important thing needed in todays world as that is what we have to keep up with the happenings in our world today. Without this source there may be some who would never know whats happening in the world and I know we can also get our news of the computers but then there are some who may be unfortunate enough to own a computer but can own a T.V. If we stop and think about it everything in life has to be done in moderation and it can be done for the good or the bad. We can use our computer as an idol so to say if we are not careful as well as a T.V or anything else. If this post sounds critical I did not mean for it too. But I do believe we all have a sense of good judgement. God bless you all. wub.gif rolleyes.gif

You are so right. The Bible tells us to have no other Gods before me. Anything can become evil.
My childern are grown now but my husband and I still the tv on all the time. I think we still need the noise of childern in the household. lol
We can read or do anything we want but if the tv goes off then we cant concontrate(sp). We need the noise that the kids left us without. When the kids come over the tv goes off cause we have the noise back!
It is funny cause when I was growing up and it was time for the news even the preacher had a reason to show up. ( my brother was in the war) That is why we got a televison. He would preach about it on Sunday but come and watch it on Monday.
