Matthew 24: 4 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you. 5 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.

It is the belief of many that this passage is a warning to watch out for imposters claiming to be Christ. If you look closely you will see that it is a warning to avoid being deceived by people that pose as Christians claiming that Christ is the Messiah.

In Yehoshua,

Hey Guy.

Let's see..

Mat 24:5 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.

Christ means:

Christos
khris-tos'
From G5548; anointed

So, basically they are saying, "I am anointed," not "I am Jesus Christ"?

I can see that. Interesting. Thanks! Very interesting indeed! blink.gif smile.gif

I agree Guy. Those that come "in My name," use the name Christ....Christ-ian. They profess to be "in Him" but do lie and are now deceiving many. That is the danger. If they were draped in satanic garb and mumbled incantations....who would listen? Deception, Deception, Deception is how he works. mad.gif

No

It is those who come saying the He is the Christ, but are preaching another gospel altogether

There have been and are many who do this

These come with a "christian" front and then tell their stories

This is deception

Yes, this is Jesus christ prophesying the many different denominations in our day that promotes they are teaching the gospel of Jesus christ, but they are not really..
Here Am I
All of the denominational... and non-denominational... churches preach man-made doctrines with different variation to appeal to different tastes.

This is why it is so deceptive. On the surface, today's churches appear to look holy and righteous and call themselves "Christ-ian" .
Because their followers have heard them preach the same lies for 40 years, they accept it as truth and read the Bible with their church's particular slant.

If churches began to teach the truth of God's Word and eliminate all the paganistic practices, they would be empty.

Today's, pastors and ministers are glorified businessmen.

"For such [are] false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ.
And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.
Therefore [it is] no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works."
-2 Corinthians 11:13-15

"Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity."
-Matthew 7:22-23

OK. I see that now. The King James should have left out the commas. It's kind of confusing.

Mat 24:5 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.

When it should be:

Mat 24:5 For many shall come in my name saying I am Christ; and shall deceive many.

Of course we have the Jehovah's Witnesses, Catholics, Mormons etc., etc.

I see what you're talking about now Guy. ! That's pretty awesome! biggrin.gif

... And some people said: "Oh, no...not MY pastor!! He preaches the Bible."

Study the Bible for yourself... unbiased: learning from the Lord alone.

"But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him." -1John 2:27

"Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth." -2Timothy 2:15
