Here's the sad statistics with regard to the ministry. There are approx. 8 million in the trucking industry. This past weekend, the head of TMI (Trucker's Ministries International), came in to do a radio show on our local Christian radio station. He made a plea for workers who would be interested in helping in this ministry. TMI has around 73 chapels nationwide, he was asking for help in our local chapel. Our children (who also come to the chapel for service, were wondering how many willing workers would show up this past Sunday morning, after the radio show on Saturday morning. I am sad to say that it was the worst day of attendance in our 4 years. Not 1 person came. This is so unusual. I had to wonder what sign that was, that after a call to harvest, there was no one at all?

Don't go....your not off-track. Do you guys hold services at truck stops near interstates? Wow. you've got my attention now. My cousin in Alaska has a truck-driving school and when he comes to visit, his students recognise him in any state on the West Coast.

Dear sharon,

These ministries are off the interstates. We are a chapel located behind the restaurant at one of our local truckstops. These ministries are located usually at the local truckstops. Yes, we hold services Sunday morning and Sunday evening. Would like to be able to say we're open 24/7, but as I said above, there are no workers willing to serve and we have made presentations at churches. I think it might intimidate people? This is the most rewarding ministries we have been in. Such a varied group of people to minister to and fellowship with. Many believers out there on the road, which I'm sure Larry can testify to....and many lost souls who need to hear the gospel message.

If you are interested I can give you more information. These ministries are all across the nation (although I'm not sure about Alaska....yet), AND you do not have to be a preacher to serve, although it does need to be either a man alone who ministers, OR a husband/wife team.

If you can get the info to me, I will forward it to Alaska to be posted on my cousins website. Don't give up, wait patiently for the Lord to show you how to promote it, and find volunteers.

Wouldn't it be great if you could find a retired trucker to volunteer. While The Lord calls on us to answer Bible questions for anyone who asks, it's always wonderful to have a leader who has lived the life. This hold true for all ministries, such as my uncle starting a Christians Bikers Club and like myself; ministering to other single moms.

Dear Damo,

Thanks for the input. I'm afraid that my husband and I are not the decision makers of the TMI organization. It is a very large ministry that is based out of Georgia. I was just commenting that the head/organization founder came to our city to do the radio program and make the call. I was more concerned about the heart of our local churches, that we cannot find workers to help. This is not unusual though. Most times people are just comfortable where they're at and don't want to give up their seat at church, so it's hard to get workers.
