For years I had dreams in which I was told that I had Jewish ancestery through my mother's ancestry. One of the dreams I have posted on this forum.

See http://www.christian-forum.net/index.php?showtopic=10011

I told Mom and she scoffed at that idea. Well she was researching the family sur name of her mother's family parents - AMOS and it turns out AMOS is very ancient Jewish surname that goes back several thousand years, around the time of the exodus. She was shocked. I wonder.... smile.gif I would be glad to find out that this would be the case and you can see that my dream had very specific references that I had to research. In one dream I was shown the area in Israel where my Jewish ancestors were from. I drew a map. It was exactly the area of land occupied by the tribe of Mannasseh on the Biblical map. What do think is the signifcance of GOD showing me this? Why would it matter if I am descended from Israel or not (although it pleases me that I could be)? Any ideas? Does it mean I have to observe Jewish holidays / rituals? Or that I maybe entitled to promises GOD made to Israel long ago, perhaps one day returning to the land of my ancestors?

Here are some direct references to AMOS :

Squirrel...

If you are indeed Jewish...then you are in good company and if I was you...I would consider it an honor.

One of my Jewish Professors told me this.....nobody today can tell by blood lineage if they are actually Jewish unless they are from the Cohen tribe. That is the Priestly lineage.

However....you could possibly take some DNA and see if it has any alleles that indicate Jewish ancestry.

Also....being Jewish depends on ones definition of it.

Now my Professor gave some very good arguments about why being Jewish is dependant on if one is actually PRACTICING Judaism.

I tend to disagree with her on that. And that particular interpretation also depends on who you are talking to.

Orthodox Jews do not believe that. The Orthodox believe that if your mothers lineage was Jewish...then so are you. But again...one does not know if that was ever broken through the centuries. Rather hard to say for sure...no?

And then yet another group of Jews will say that it does not matter.....one is Jewish if EITHER of the parents were.

So...you see how this could be a little complicated.

And it also seems as if God was trying to tell you something from your dreams. You very well may be Jewish. (I'm happy for you.) smile.gif

But this is the main thing.....no...you do NOT have to start practicing any of the Laws. When the disciples NEW that the Messiah had come....they had a hard time with some of the temple sacrifices. They could not continue doing some of these because Yeshua had come.

HE was the ultimate sacrifce. Once and for ALL.

YOU are already a believer in Yeshua. You are saved. So...to go and start practicing Judaism would be....I hate to say it like this... but a step back only because you already know the Messiah.

Perhaps the Lord is showing you this because....and I will come back later with this scripture...but He promised to bring the Jews back to the land from whence they were scattered.

It is a very beautiful scripture....and one of my favorites.

I hope all this helps you.

Love,
Cindy

It does say that the Jews will go back, so it might mean that, but how cool is it to find that Jesus found you befor you found this out! G-d is very good! Always!!!

Peacemaker....many of us may be of the tribes...but not Jewish. We now call all the tribes Jews but that isn't correct. Only the tribe of Judah and Benjamin and some of Levi are....Jews. They are the house of Judah while the other ten tribes are the house of Israel. We may well be of Israel...not Judah but nevertheless of the tribes.

I love that!

Here is that scripture.....

This is a very beautiful scripture and one of my favorites. Perhaps this is why you are having your dreams.

Hey FS...

We found out a few years back that there is Jewish lineage in our family on my father's side...

Blessings!

I've been meaning to ask my mum, as she mentioned it a while ago and it stuck in my mind. Anyway, she has just confirmed that there is Jewish ancestry on my grandfathers side. This is very interesting.

Wow, this hits home!

My husband's father had a strange childhood in Germany. He was born in NY, but was trapped in Germany with his grandparents when WWII broke out. During the early years of the war, his grandmother was murdered by the Nazis in a concentration camp and he was sent to live with friends in Berlin only to be sent to live with strangers in the countryside when the bombings(blitzkrieg) started. After the war, his parents found him and brought him back to NY. During his life, he avoided most discussion about his childhood, just saying that he lived with farmers. He was also, as far as anyone knew, a life long Catholic.

Several years ago, a salesman came to our door and upon hearing our extremely German last name announced, "I was raised in Germany and my friend had your last name, are You Jewish, too?" we were floored, there had never been any intimation from the family that they were Jewish.

So now, with the awakening knowlege that our time here is short, we have been talking a lot about the rapture. One day a month ago, my Husband pulled me aside and said, "I don't want you to be unsettled, but I think that God is telling me that he wants me to stay behind and help those who are LEFT behind."

I am still looking for my socks! But, I have accepted this new paradigm and am helping him get things set up financially for when the kids and I disappear.

Your new info is again enlightening! Wow how good is God! He promised the Israelites that he would never forget his promises to them. And now after eons, he is calling his chosen ones into service when they themselves had forgotten who they were.

All Glory be to God,
Paula

I dont have the full story about my family. I seen pics as a child of my father and mother on a reservation and they wear indean cloths. My mother told me somethings about my father, he being a cheafs son, and my mother said that some of us where born on that res. she said I was one of those, I grow up writing from Right to left on paper, and was told not to talk about it when I was doing that and to stop. I had visions of me doing that. My mother tells some things about her family, but none of it tells what race we where, when asked she would shut up and say nothing. I found out that my grandfather was was her step father, and she wouldnt saying anything about her real father, just stories that would change from time to time, one just know she didnt want to tell the truth.

Her hafe brothers, I remember them stating they hated Jews and blackes, and that on her step fathers side of the family was the kkk. So, it is very clear hwy she wouldnt talk about it to us, and why we were treated diffently by them because of not being fully white.

I found out that the tribes my father was in had jewish ansastry. I dont know what the story is there. I do feel that it would be great to get the truth about all of this, to know where I came from and to be able to have something for my child. but apart from the Promises I have through Christ, Jesus is enought to being that peace to me I so needed to have. amen!
