Hello Saints,
I'm writing to ask if you would join with us in faith and prayer on behalf of a family in my Fellowship.
Michael has recently received a report from the physician that he only has one good vertebrae, and that one of his discs is ruptured and pinching his spine. They are saying that open-back surgery is necessary for him to function normally again. The deductible is $500 for surgery, and he would not be able to go back to work for some time afterwards. They do not currently have that much money, & they probably couldn't afford for him to be off of work for that long (at least without some Divine intervention).
His wife is working at a department store, then coming home and taking care of everything around the house. Needless to say, she's exhausted and spent.
Here's what I'm asking of you:
1. Please spend some time in concentrated prayer for healing on Mike's behalf. A few years ago, when his back was bad due to a car wreck, we saw the Lord break in and bring instantaneous healing. Now, after another wreck, and after many months of very laborious work, he is in a very painful and incapacitated place. We want to stand on the word of the Lord, "Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not His benefits. He forgives all my iniquity, and heals all my diseases." (Psm. 103) Will you cry out in faith for a complete healing?
The following is non-applicable to people in this forum:
2. I believe this is also a fresh test for our fellowship as to how we will view and support one another. In that regard, I'd like you to ask how you could serve their family in this time. Could it be that the Lord is also wanting to work something in us in terms of how we lift one another up during times of attack or trial? He desires a people who bear a prophetic reality, but He is also jealous for a pastoral community. He is, after all, the Chief Shepherd.
Ask the Lord if there is any way that He would have you serve them and be an extension of His generous heart during this time. It could be financial, spending time with them to encourage them in the faith, or perhaps a team could be developed that could give her a hand with cleaning or taking care of the children on some level. Whatever it is, please take this before the Lord while we cry out for healing. In the case of Rees Howells, the great intercessor, the Lord would not release healing through his hands until he was truly willing to lay down his own life for the ones that he was praying for. Our willingness to respond to the Lord in practical service often gives validity and reality to our prayers. Do hold this family up before the Lord, and ask what He would have you to do.
I'm stopping by to see them in the morning, and I'm believing that our fellowship will rise up and step into a fresh expression of true community during this time.
Thanks, friends.
For the glory of Jesus, the salvation of Israel, and the transformation of the nations,
Eliyahu
