I just feel very sad about the obese child that was shown.
But I feel even more sad about some of the comments that were directed toward that child.
If a blind man was walking down the street....would you try to trip him and then laugh about it?
I think its pretty darn sick to find humor over the predicament of a child or anyone else who is in this condition.
Certainly not Christian.
And for the record....many Americans also excercise.

Many of us are health conscious.
The money we spend on health clubs and excersize machines in mind boggling.

Everyone,
Please consider how your comments might come across to somebody experiencing the hardships of being overweight. There are a lot of hurting people who may come to this forum and see this thinking that the love of God is not here. Is this conducive to christianity? In sincere honesty? I'm not going to hide myself about this issue...I am overweight and find this type of talk amongst christians to be distasteful, judgmental and downright mean...including hurtful. Not everyone who is overweight overeats to the max...some people have hormonal problems or thyroid problems or other issues which makes it harder for them to lose the weight. There are some people who are blessed and able to eat whatever they want to eat, yet don't gain weight. How can christians sit as judge and mock people who have physical limitations????
Isn't the worldly society at large already doing enough damage...by making the harsh, critical distinctions about those who are overweight compared to those with perfect bodies? How many people suffer because they believe they are not worthy enough due to their body size? One of the most distasteful television shows is called "the Biggest Loser". I don't care how much they try to gussy up that show, it is a direct attack against those who suffer being overweight, and mocks them.
As christians, shouldn't our focus be upon spiritual matters, rather than outward appearance? Some of the most tender hearted people I've known, are the most kind and loving because of the hardships they have endured.
Sincerely,
Kim

Oh lighten up! America is fat because of the economy and McDonald's shoving stuff down our commercialized throats. If people let their kids eat this stuff then that's what they get, and if they listen to their kids whine about it or eat it themselves, then they are part of the problem. America makes what AMERICANS want. That's the truth. America needs a makeover!
Annie, I'm with you... this was for fun, some people ruin it for everyone. Just like the Favorite Songs/Bands thread. If you can't have fun here, which is labeled JUST FOR FUN!, then go post a thread on why fat people are mistreated somewhere else. Nothing was meant by the picture, just some people take it the wrong way, and remember, we CAN ignore some of these things. That's what I was told. WE HAVE THE OPTION to not ENTER IN. Nobody is judging an overweight person here. It was a picture of what America really is.. disgustingly selfish, grossly obese, complacent, and greedy.
Godsword.. loved the captions and Annie, you nailed the winner!

I will not lighten up about this...shame on you for these outlandishly rude comments Rose...."disgustingly selfish, grossly obese, complacent, and greedy"...that is the mindset of those in the world and the whole point why this was brought to light referring to this thread. *Christians* having *fun* should never be at the expense of another person's physical handicaps.
And to allude that every overweight person is overweight due to disgusting, selfish, complacent greed is exceptionally offensive, to say the least!!!!
That is precisely the attitude I'm referring to....it has no place within a christian's walk.

But you just watch Chloe', your son will gain huge benefits of compassion towards others, empathy and kindness...for when you have physical problems and the society at large rejects you because of those physical problems it causes a person to remain humble and gives them a compassionate understanding for others who are struggling.

Annie's addition below is so true... this is why my kid has migraines and asthma... and other health issues... due to the poison in the food, the overused fats and the chemical additives that make people overweight. I had one slant on it, Annie the other. Nobody is making fun of people and their weight condition. But what America wants, America gets... and if nobody does anything about it, then it will stay that way. That's what I meant about complacent. Sorry if any of this hurt your feelings.

Hi Kim,
The jist of the picture, was not just the idea of the person being overweight, but his diet containing poisons such as fluoride, MSG, Aspartame... AKA junk food full of chemical additives; not to mention the Prozac. The pic is a satire: " trenchant wit, irony, or sarcasm used to expose and discredit vice or folly."
People are unaware of the poisons they ingest on a daily basis. Also, this pic demonstrates how the the government is in control of what we eat, what we drink, the poisons we breathe (notice the chemtrails in the sky), and how we are being watched (see the cameras everywhere).
As Christians, we are entrusted with the care of our body, which is the temple of the Holy Ghost (1Cor. 6:19), and must strive to do our very best in living in natural health, avoiding chemical additives that are known to be detrimental to human health. We must educate outselves as to the harm we do to our bodies by eating fast food, drinking fluroridated water, taking pharmaceuticals, etc.The latest medical findings suggest that one can be overweight, yet still healthy, if they exercise regularly and eat wholesome foods.

Well this is my youngest daughter who has a little problem with it. My oldest daughter has a different metabolism. That kid burns off everything.
I saw that something was wrong when they were just toddlers. I coudn't figure it out. My girls are only eleven months apart and they ate exactly the same things (which was NOT junk food).
I was almost in tears when I talked to the Pediatrician about it...and he said that they have the same issue with one of their kids.
All of the others are thin....but this one tends to gain weight easier. The main thing he said is to keep healthy choices around and that they are not made to feel ashamed of it. He told me not to make a too big of a deal about it.
And when I read a couple of the posts in this thread.....I can see that a particular person enjoys making jabs at others in this condition.

Well, I can honestly relate to your dd, Chloe'. I cannot remember any time in my entire life without struggling with weight issues. Yet I could watch kids my age eat whatever they wanted to eat, yet not gain the weight. I was not an inactive kid either...loved to get out and play baseball...jump in creeks swimming, lol...and ride my bike to kingdom come. I will admit I've grown less active later in life and have attempted to remedy that by tred-mill...but I find that the focus being primarily upon the *outside* of a person's body to be missing the larger picture(especially christians). God looks upon a person's heart....and so should we.
God bless you,
KimHere am I,
What I eat does not interfere with my Holy Temple. What I eat is eliminated...and bears no direct spiritual consequence...unless it was strangled meat or meat containing blood. However, what proceeds out of my mouth, that's the issue...and it is related to my (spiritual) heart.
I don't say it's wrong to want to live healthily...but when we tie that into our spiritual lives, I feel that's a step in the wrong direction...unless it's related to idol worship etc.
I will add this final thought about your picture....I see the primary object is the overweight man, surrounded by fattening foods. This in and of itself is a derision to the man sitting in front of the food.
I've said what I felt needed to be said...and won't bother this thread anymore.
God bless you,
Kim

I don't think I was making fun of overweight people. I thought I was trying to make fun of poor diets (which can result in being overweight), and especially I was trying to deal with all the "false" additives and manufactured drugs allowed by the FDA. My mother, my two brothers (one older, one younger), and my father are all overweight (some more than others). (I could probably stand to lose 5-10 pounds, but a nurse who weighed me recently thought I was around 30 pounds lighter than I am [meaning, more of my weight is muscle than fat].) I don't generally make fun of overweight people, though I suppose sometimes I can fall victim to doing so when it is in an anonymous, impersonal setting (just like I suppose I might make fun of other things which in person I would not). But I don't think I did in this case.

Be at peace?
You don't even care about the anguish you caused the other day. You don't care about the hurt and rage you caused.
You had no business posting that.
One more thing you have shown me is that you are TOTALLY untrustworthy. I shared information that I trusted you with. And you not only betrayed me....but two other people. Not to mention sharing info about the subject for the soul purpose of trying to cause injury to that person.
I never wanted to hurt him. But you used the information I gave you to try to do that to him. I AM HAVING A HARD TIME WITH THAT! And I won't forgive myself for betraying him and also for trusting YOU!
The Holy Spirit has shown me a couple other things about you that I will not mention.
You really need to just back away. Every time you open your mouth or post something....you just reinforce that you are not repentant for the problems you caused.
In fact...you are mocking. That is one of the characteristics of Satan. And you are enjoying it very much.

Lay it down, girl. Anger will kill ya.

I am not enjoying this, just responding to your anger that obviously is so out of control. I am at peace, I wish you could be. The Lord loves you very much but you continue to follow my posts to see if I am going to say anything bad, which I am not, but you are needling me with your screaming at me with your large words. You need to calm down. Really. So you are a prophet now and the Holy Spirit is telling you things? Are you sure it's not from the other side? You really need to calm down and let GOD take over. So don't trust me, just stop following me. I am not mocking. You are imagining this so you can continue to post after I do. Please just be at peace, and no more yelling.
Forgiveness, repentance... this is what God would like. I forgive, I am repentant, but the Lord has forgiven me and I have asked forgiveness already from the people that I exposed and they have forgiven me. No anger, no sugarcoating, no attacking. Your imagination is working overtime. And the Holy Spirit hasn't showed you anything that the Lord hasn't already covered with the blood and forgiven me for. I feel peace and love and this is the Lord's presence that surrounds me. You should try just resting from here and things will be fine. What happened the other day is PAST. Today is NEW day and the Lord tells us to look forward, not back. I am looking forward. No more attacks, just trying to keep the peace. But you won't stop posting after me. So I just have to let it go. You will believe what you want to, and contention is not enjoyed by those that are constantly targeted. But I am over it!
Back away to where, Chloe? I am allowed to be here and have an opinion. Maybe you need to just ignore me. There is an ignore button and then you wouldn't feel so angry with me. Just ignore. I'm just another person on the internet. You can ignore and block if you want. It's okay. It doesn't offend me.

I am not backing anywhere. I am here to stay.

Oh, and remember, we're in the forum called JUST FOR FUN. So let's get back to topic!

So please just be at peace, Sister. God does love you so much! And I know you will respond, but this is my last post here regarding discussions with you, but just watch, you can't resist. Really... just let it go and let GOD.

You do not understand what you did to me the other day.
You used that information against him. THAT was not why I told you any of it. I wanted you to pray for him. I wanted you to understand because you were asking me about some things.
And so I get some half-hearted apology....but yet I see you still attacking....albeit...covered with more glucose. But you know what your doing.
And I'm not Prophetic. But I do have the Holy Spirit living inside of me and I sensed something about you quite awhile back...but I ignored it. I will keep it to myself....but your behavior just reinforced it.
Forgivness is something separate. I do forgive you. But you will
