my avatar piccie...thats me in my fire uniform earlier this year at my station when we had multiple bad bushfires all at once...i think there was 7 bad ones at once state wide. i was put to work on 2 of them but based from Rokeby (my station). we rescued a baby ring tailed possum from the fire, its mother died and was an orphan and it had a singed back and tail and face and had foam in its eyes. it was so cute. i was its temporary mother while we tried to find a company who look after wild injured animals.

i have heaps of stories to tell about the fires...been in the fire service for 10 years but fighting real fires since i was 16. so if you wanna know, or anything about fire safety then you can post here or if anyone has any stories about fires they have had or seen etc then you can post here too.

Awww I wish I could see it, I love possums! The first time I saw one (new to Aus) was when we were camping. It was nightfall and I was sitting down while DH did the food... then I felt this hairy thing brush past my legs, I screamed my head off! There was this tame possum, who'd come for the food. I felt so silly. Anyway, it climbed up a tree and we could see its sharp claws, I hardly slept that night as I could hear it outside and I thought it was gonna rip the tent fabric with its claws.

hahaha aaawww. some possums are vicious...i have ones outside my house that fight of a night time and make a horrible racket and sound like wild cats lol.

This is a fire that broke out next to my apt. here. I was standing on my porch when I took the pic. I grabbed a hose and ran up the stairs and started watering down the roof cause I thought it was going to catch our complex on fire, lol. It was Great!




Then, the trucks showed up..



Then the TV people showed up...



Sooo, I grabbed a TV guy and told him I helped water down the roof (and I had to throw in that I ran for governor of California, LOL) So, he got me on TV that night, LOL. So, here's to the camera guy, his 20 seconds of fame on a Christian forum. LOL.
