Today I told our small congregation of Vijaya's plight and $70 was given. I'll be sending it along with Vijaya's usual monthly support and some more to him probably tomorrow. If anyone here wants to give, contact me. I'll add it or give you the information where to send it.

Dear Bros/sisters,
there are so many christian mission and charity organisations, and many are also in India since the British colonial time. I suppose you can contact them via email and I always go thru them because they have co-workers in various countries to oversee the works for the poor. Partner International or Christian Nationals Evangelism's Commission - their work in helping the locals especially the orphans, co-workers, pastors, students are cared for thru' funds donated by you and me. There are accountability and good stewardship. They also teach poor christians how to fish after giving them fish. They provide micro enterprise projects -e.g small loans without interests as in the bible. Below is the website:

Dear Brothers and Sisters at the Christian-Forum
I have asked in another post that this not be once named among us.. that we did not come to the aid of God's children
If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food,
And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit?
Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.
Let our love for the Lord be shown in deed and not word only.. because our Father has said that pure religion and undefiled before Him is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction
and it's possible that a little study of the greek be employed here.. the word VISIT = episkeptomai and it is a VERB.. (an action word)
and it means..
... the poor and afflicted, the sick

to look upon in order to help or to benefit
... to look after, have care for, provide for
Casting Crowns asks it of us.. But if we are the body .. Why aren't His arms reaching?
Ohhh to God that this is not once mentioned among us.. that we turn our ears and eyes from the cry of the poor and needy
Lord, may your word perform that for which it is sent.. and may it be done because of love and not shame
Isaiah 58: 6-10Prov. 14:21;
19:17,
14:31,
28:27The children at Grace Orphange and Mercy Orphanage need our help.. Let us come quickly to the aid of our brothers and sisters .. for this is a true sacrifice that confirms our faith
In Christian love,
Cheryl aka HE IS Faithful ... So, too, should we be

We have raised and sent $290 so far for Vijaya's typhoon related expenses through the forum and some church members. He sent this report:
Yesterday one of our orphan child while playing fell down and head injury accured. We immediately took him to the hospital for treatment. After two surgical sutures & dressing we bring him back to Home- one child is suffering with fever and motions (diarrhea). Due to floods cooking gas is not available. For 10days. Now by means of firewood we are able to serve the food to the children. Which is too expensive. Due to heavy rains electrical wiring short circuited and all the building wiring burnt out. During nights without current we are leading the days. For new it wiring costs Rs.6,000($143)- please pray for this.
My wife was was suffering with motions (diarrhea) & fever. Four saline bottles were injected in to her daily. Please pray for her health.
For this Month overheads, medical expanses, Firewood cost (30/- per day for 10 days), wiring cost, Hospital expenses for my wife Rs.2500($60), My children school fee Rs.8,000($190)- not yet paid. Please pray for the above needs.

I posted this in the prayer forum:
Vijaya sent this to me:
PRAISE THE LORD
Greetings in the name of Jesus Christ brother David Johnson and sister Cindy Johnson. I am very greatful to you with the Grace of God and especially by your prayers.
The letter which you posted to me through e-mail was not seen by me, because my wife was in the hospital due to vomiting, motions (Diarreah) , fever. Thus I appointed (admitted) her in the hospital. She was in very serious condition. She was given cyclones(?). For six days she was in the hospital.
She had got this illness due to typhoon and flood because of this the water was polluted. More or less I spent 9 thousand and 4 hundred ruppes ($224) for her (This is paid in hospital) (Vijaya's parentheses)
Dear brother some people whom I don't know opened my e-mail and checked the letters. Because of these reasons I could not find out your letter which was in (the) inbox, therefore I have been waiting for your letter. So on Saturday checking my inbox, I found your letter.
Brother (in the) last letter (the) medical bill of my wife was Rs.2500 ($60)- But Doctor discharged my wife, the next day (she)started the vomtings and motions, again (admitted to) the hospital, staying 6 days. That bill amount is Rs.9400($224). I paid to paying the bill(?). Also, orphanage children got fever and vomiting, motions itching and wounds, each of these children was given treatment for 6 days. Since it is going on. So when I saw the amount which you send me. I prayed and worshiped the Lord. (We sent the $250 monthly support for orphanage expenses only, and $290 for typhoon related expenses)
Brother I paid Rs.5,600 ($133) for the medicine of the children. Brother really I don't know how I have to express my heartfelt thanks to you. We are very thankful to you we express our heart felt thanks to you and for Sister Cindy. (He knows that forum and church members contributed)
Brother pray for give me for the amount which I paid for my wife hospital bill 9400, sorry brother without your permission.
Brother the help which you sent I spent Rs.9400($224) for my wife's hospital bill and 5600 ($133) for the orphanage children medicines and hospital bill totally 15,000($357)
Brother you sent 10877 rupees for the use of the orphanage children. I spent that amount for the provision of the orphanage.
I did not spent even one rupee for anything else except for the benefit of the orphanage children. Brother I will sent to you the provision bills.
Orphanage conditions
1. Brother I am writing the condition of the orphanage. There was no power for one week to the children. The wires of the orphanage buildings were burnt out. I have already sent the email to you brother about the building I told to the owner. He replayed to me that he could do nothing. There fore we have to spend at least 6000($143) for the wiring. Brother immediately you send money for the wiring children are studying in the light of candle please help me for wiring cost.
2. Brother up to today the children are living in dark. Brother another thing is here the water is polluted due to the heavy rains. When we use these hand pumps water, the red marks are coming on the clothes and alergies came to the children when they took baths. Brother our hand pumps have got only twenty feet of depth inside the earth. Due to this reason the water is polluted. The Government officers came to our village and suggested us to send the hand pumps upto 100 feet depth then only the good water comes to all people in our village. Started putting the hand pumps into 100 feet depth. Brother immediately we have to sent the two pumps into 100 feet depth.
Brother we have only two pumps in our orphanage. The estimation of each pump is 1 feet pipe cost 50 ruppes ($1.19)
100x50 = Rs.5000 . ($119)
extra material = Rs.1000 ($24)
for the worker Rs.3500 ($83)
Total Rs.9500 ($226)
The total amount of two pump sets cost is 19000 Rs ($452) brother I humbly request you please you could help as soon as possible. Because I can't buy the mineral water for the children daily please you could pray for it and support for this institution.
3 Brother the building of the orphanage children is not upto the mark. The water goes inside the house when it rains. So we have to repair the whole building once again please you could pray for it.
4. Brother the fourth thing is this I only provided to each child one bed sheet starting in they got spoiled. Because of this geany rain and flood the children spoiled the sheets. Now they are suffering from the mosquitoes and from the cold.
Please you could send 30 bed sheets and 30 blankets please you could pray for it and help for this essential need.
Brother in our village the flooded water is slowly deceasesing. Brother due to this so many people of this village got various kinds of diseases. They don't have anything to eat so many people are losing their heath due to this things.
They don't have any work to do. Now they are having famine. Brother my fellowship (assistant pastor) prakash from karampudi. His father died in flood. Please pray for him and his family.
Please pray for us. Please tell to sister cindy and tell her to pray for us. Grace orphanage children tell or greetings for you and for sister cindy. And my wife Rubi Grace and myself and the church believers send greetings to you and to sister Cindy.
Yours brother in christ
Pastor : Vijaya Bhaksar
Nuthakki.
Of the $290 sent for the typhoon, he spent:
$284 = $60 + $224 for hospital for his wife
$133 for the medicine of the children
$417 total above spent 417-290=127 deficit
_________________________________
He needs yet:
$143 electrical repairs
$226 X 2 bore wells deeper
$127 deficit from above
$496 total above needed (To fix just one well) Also there is the need for 30 blankets and sheets.
Can we raise this? $20 of it has come in since I sent the money several days ago. They go deeper in debt each month, and can't handle this.
Do you know someone that you can present this to? You can copy the address bar and send it to someone, or take it to your church leadership, or to a business owner that God has blessed. One elderly lady in our church gave three one dollar bills in an envelope.
Please pray.

all i can do is offer prayer and pray that god puts the right people around chrio and this orphanage as my focus is on my fiancee and the people we are reaching out to in the philippines i am happy that this forum supports two orphanages and from time to time chrio fills us in
me and my fiancee take on kids that would be ignored by the rich folk in her country we have a school and the teachers who work in our school belong to our main church they dont get a high wage like the teachers in Australia do but what they get they are great full money is not important to our teachers who have gone out of their way to make sure these kids get a fair chance as no child should miss out on an education
the kids we take are from very poor familys what me and my partner do is pray for sponcers to come on board what the sponcer ship offers is food for the child and the family uniform education and health costs as we have our own dr he is a kind loving man and he does what he can as with the way medicen is it is very expensive
i just thought i add something to this topic and say i wish i could help but my focus is for my fiancee who is a filapino pastor we also take on orphans and do what we can our members are very caring to the point were they wil take a child into their home and do what ever they can
my fiancees aunty who works in honkong adopted 6 orphans and has two kids of her own she has 7 girls and two boys
i wil be adopting a 12yr old boy and he wil be living with me and my fiancee once my citazen ship is aproved for me to become a filapino citazen right now the boy we are looking at adopting is being cared for by his older brother my fiancee gives what she can to his brother and checks up on the young boy they lost their parents his brother can only do so much
i know it can be hard to were you dont know what to give just come before the lord and ask him he wil tel you what to give
support this orphanage in what ever way you can words can mean so little to the ones who are in real need
we notice this i also notice this when ever i am asked to speak i do share what the lord is doing and i do share what our needs are what hurts is when some one says i hear you but no action behind those words at times i dont want to share what the lord is doing in the philippines and what our needs are as i have seen where peoples hearts have been hardened to were they dont want to put what they hear into action and i tell my fiancee in tears its like i have hit a brick wall
also i can understand why people dont want to give you can blame the nigerian scam artists this is what i am picking up by the people i talk to they want to give but this weird feeling they get says not to as they dont know if the missions acount is real and if the money is going to go to the ones in real need
what we do with the ones who do want to sponcer a child who is in need is send what we spend the money on and some times the child wil write a thank you to the sponcers we show our sponcers were the money is being spent it goes to the childs needs and to the childs family
i will keep the two orphaneges this forum helps in my prayers and as i pray for the two orphaneges i pray you also pray for me and my fiancee in the philippines and the kids in our care and our teachers

I get your asking these qeastions here, but if we or those her buy them and then send them over it will cause more money to do it that way, then to sent money, and them buy it over there. That way our money goes mush farther than if we take care of it buy buying it ourselves. things cost less there than here. Just my thoughts on the matter.
We, demo, you are going good to fast and or pray for them, that is something that is very much needed, you cant go wrong doing so! Great Job!
I am so gald as to get a list here, that way, I can see what is needed, feel that there is turth here, and that the money isnt being missed used, you can see also by the cost of things that.....boy, I can aford to give a little, and feel that it is very helpful!

Good call!! I'm sure there are plenty of places in India that haven't been affected by the flood, and there are groups like Red Cross and World Vision that have members there too, that can find these things quickly. For now, it looks like getting those well parts for clean water is really urgent. Thanks.

Could anyone direct me to verification of these ministries being mentioned in this thread? Please don't get me wrong, I seek not to accuse anyone of wrongdoing, but for the sake of those reading feel it would be beneficial to have these ministries verified so that financial assistance would be more forthcoming. (unfortunately there are plenty of deceivers online...but I do not accuse these ministries...just seeking verification)
I'm praying for the situation and thanks,

Thanks, Kim. I have often questioned the teachings and control of these orphanages, also. Many of them are run by the Jesuits and the Roman Catholic Church, or by compromising fallen protestant denominations (i.e. Episcopal), also supported by the RCC. Seeking verification, also.

Hi Annie,
Just to clarify...it's really not teachings I'm concerned about as much as whether or not the orphanage actually exists. Before the internet became popular there were ministers exposed for falsely claiming they were aiding certain orphanages or building them and later it was found out that these were frauds. Since the internet though, these types of scams have exploded.
I pray that my words are not offensive, but I would not assist any un-verified orphanage or ministry...there is just too much scamming going on and I want to make sure that the money I give is actually going to a literal orphanage or ministry.
I accessed the link provided by Chrio but saw no proof of who these people receiving donations are...and am wondering if there is a link somewhere that we could access or if somebody has actually visited these orphanages and saw them with their own eyes?
I pray my words do not come across offensive...but feel that we should be cautious with who we give to online.
God bless you Annie,
Kim

Greetings brother i know the orphange you run is real as this is the problem i am having when ever i am asked to share what god is doing in the philippines and then ask for help i get the same reaction what we do we wil put anyone up at no cost we meet them at the air port we take them to a friends place who works close with us and we then take you and show you what we do when it comes to the poor
we have bible collage students from texas helping us they come every year part of their program they have to show their teachers that they can put what they hear in class into action we alow the bible collage students to preach in our churches we even take them on the crusades we do and we take them to the prison ministry we run and alow them to share their testimony to the inmates they pay nothing for the accomadation that is provided for them we have a friend who is an evangelical christian he is a solicitor and has big house he can take up to 18 people at a time
people do have a right also to know that the money they send to make sure it reaches the ones in need
you have this forum supporting you brother
i am trying to get the same support for our kids in our care as our teachers dont get much money like the teachers in australia do the teachers in australia get a good wage our teachers who are members of our church in bacolod live on $200 a month brother i have a friend who is a teacher in australia he is only 26yrs old he gets $2,000 Australian dollars a week when i told him what our filapino teachers are getting as a wage he got a schock they have the same degree as he has this is al we can afford to give our teachers i wish we can give them a better wage they are happy and do what they do out off love brother never putiing my partner who is the head pastor down always willing to do what is asked of them and they wil go that extra mile my fiancee knows what my pastor in australia makes he makes more than what she earns she gets as the head pastor $300 a month my pastor has a home provided for by the church a car and a good wage she walks to church or catches the public transport
i know you have a good heart and i know your hearts desire is to help the kids in your care and i know you are doing what you can just keep posting your needs brother
i have seen on news what the rain has done in your country and i have seen the effect the floods have had on your people
we get the same when it floods in the philippines your typhoon season is like our typhoon season brother
one women last night said she did not eat for 5 days and their are people saying the same thing they have not eaten at all
its very sad what has happend in your country and i am sure in gods perfect timming the aid wil get to the ones in real need
be at peace brother i am praying for you and for your wife and child and the kids in your orphanage and the elderly people also in your care
God bless from damo

Hugs!
peace maker
i am not going fast and i have been doing this for some time this is something that just did not fall in my lap i speak when asked to share what the lord is doing in the philippines and i speak on the behalf of our new church as we have others speaking on the behalf of the 4 other churches
i said all i can do is pray as my focus is getting support to the philippines we should also listen to what the lord says what he wants us to do with the gifts he has given us he also expects us to use even what resrourses we have for example if you have a spare room in your home do something with that room if you are well of finacialy be a blessing to those in your church who you know will benifit from your help dont be greedy
that is why i dont make any promisses or say i will come on board
God bless from damo

Going to Fast was a typo, I ment, doing a fast! To pray or Fast for those in need it helpful, that is what I ment!
silly me!

ah i see

i was even thinking of robbing a bank or so but god would zap me as i know the banks dont need the money they collect from us and then i could have sent it to the ones in real need as i noticed banks wil tax what we send when it comes to thes orginizations i am seeing with the missions account i am about to set up its going to cost me $10 australian dollars a month this goes towards tax i said in your pocket more like it i got the best and lowest missions account set up for our church in La Castellana
i am about to do a mac donalds fast

take care sister

I believe this is a real orphanage, as Chinnam actually invited me to come to India and visit. If it were phony, I really doubt that he would be inviting anybody.
ALSO...Chrio has a Paypal account set up to recieve donations. This is important because the fraudulent or non-existant organizations will ask money to be wired because it's too hard to trace and there's no accountability in the case that the fraud is discovered. With Paypal, there is a tangible audit trail that can be backed up or even sequestered by a judge, if needed. There are monthly statements that can be printed out and saved with the date, amount, and a note as to where the money has been designated, and the name of the person it was sent to.
I have always been pretty careful too, but I know that every dime I have made is God's money, and if I give part of it back to Him as a token of my faith in His provision, and a thief recieves it instead (without my knowing it)......who is going to account for it on the Judgement day?
After my husband left me with three kids, and before I started my own business, my family and I had to go for several days without food or gas money....just before I got my paycheck. I remember what it was like to get out of church on Sunday morning and find bags of groceries in the back of my truck. I cried. To those who have never had a hard day in their lives, it may not be a big deal, but to those of us whose kids only got to have one meal a day...from the school lunch program.....who went to school with their shoes taped together from the inside, every small dead of kindness was overwhelming.
I would rather take my chances after I have checked an organization, than to have to face God because I didn't step out in faith.
Matthew 25:41 Then He will say to those at His left hand, "Depart from me, you cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. For I was hungry and you gave me no food. I was thirsty, and you gave me no drink. I was a stranger and you did not welcome me, naked and you did not clothe me, sick and in prison and you did not visit me. And they will answer, "Lord, when did we see you hungry, or thirsty, or a stranger, or naked, sick or in prison, and did not minister to you?" Then He will answer them, "Truly I say to you, as you did it not to one of the least of these, you did it not to me." And they will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life. Sometimes, we just have to take a chance and hope we are right......

Thank you Sharon, for your reply in this post.. I too, support Mercy Orphanage and Vijaya's Orphanage.. and do so by faith. And my reasoning is the same as yours.
Yes, there are many "scams" on the internet, but I felt led of the Holy Spirit to help aid these who are most precious to our Lord's heart.
I was especially pleased to find that
much more of
the little that I can give, goes directly to them without administration costs that are often involved
in other ministries.
Geee.. I figure, While I am not a rich person, (as some count richness) with this worlds goods, I probably have more in one room of my house than these children and widows will have in a lifetime; and so the Lord confirmed in my heart one day, that to whom much is given, much is required..
I thank the Lord, and praise Him, that He gives me a way for outward manifestation of the work He is doing on the inside of me.
The least of these shall be greater.. and so, I will be the honored one, when one day, in My Father's home, I will meet Chinnam, Vijaya, and the children and widows .
It is my prayer, that the Holy Spirit himself, will give verification of these ministries. And for those who do not have
that verification in their lives, that other proof (maybe? in the mouth of two or three witnesses, a thing is confirmed) will lead many on this forum to give of their worldly blessings, in addition to the holy sacrifice of prayer, to lift up and provide for these who are most precious to our Saviour.
In the past, I started a topic -
The Love of Many Shall Wax Cold - There were 287 Views and only 6 Replies (1/2 of those replies were my own)... I realize, that if that saddened my heart.. I am more moved by the thought of how much it saddened my Father's heart.
But! It is my understanding that with all the views (287) one person here gave a notable sum and ohhh how my heart praised the Lord. I don't know who that person was.. and don't need to, but the Lord knows those who are His.. and I ask the Lord to bless that person with many spiritual blessings!
For those reading this post.. be assured that I am not writing this to "toot" my own horn.. I am writing this as a witness.
And Chinnam, or should I say? Dr. Chinnam

- Thank YOU! for allowing the Lord to do His work thru you! My Saviour's heart is apparent in your life! And for that, I give glory to Him alone! Your reward in Heaven will be great!
I challenge those here, who truly want to know.. to read this post -
True Sacrifice and then, ask the Holy Spirit to speak to your heart.
I know it is true.. His Sheep will hear His voice.
Much love in Christ - may the reading of this bless your soul.

Thanks everyone for your comments. I do not deny that christians are called to share the abundance they have to those who do not have. What little I do have, I desire for it to honestly help the needy and do not feel it wrong at all to have that desire. Nor do I consider it a lack of spiritual judgment or lack of discernment because I asked the question...in sincerity.
I'm glad that Chinnum came in with such a thorough response...thanks Chinnum! And I believe that your eagerness to show your integrity will be rewarded.
I believe that our giving should be in secret if at all possible....but of course, sometimes it's not possible.
God bless you all,

Dear Chinnam...you are welcome and I do sincerely hope that you understand where I was coming from (my response to you about your eagerness to show your integrity...I think that was very good of you...and you will reap the reward for that...in sincerity).
I will keep the orphanages in my prayers and ask the Lord even now to bring you all to my remembrance as oft as is needed!
Lord, I do ask that you will supply all of the needs of these orphanages and that you will stir as many hearts as possible to come to their aid. And Lord, even for those with a limited income I pray that many of those would give too (even if it doesn't seem like alot) because when it's added together it could be more than enough.
Lord, I also know that you love a cheerful giver and that none should be put under compulsion...so I pray that by your Spirit those who give would give freely could give as abundantly as possible! Thank you Lord, amen.
love to you and yours Chinnam!

Hey Kim,
Your question is legit. I just spent 30 minutes answering it, only to accidentally delete it. I'll summarize it again.
I originally supported 2 indian orphanages and an old age home that were not legit. That money was mine and not from the forum or any other donors & was given to God, and I pity those people on judgement day, unless they repent. Chinnam had shut down his orphanage during that time because I suspended all support and he couldn't take care of the kids. He has 15 at the time I think. I found out he was legit & told him that God willing I'd send enough money to keep the doors open. He has picked up kids in chunks.
Vijaya is a friend of Jagan (who is from India and staying in our house). He checked out the others. He was the third person I sent to check on them. All visits were unanounced. Jagan went back to India and checked for himself, and dedicated a new orphanage for Vijaya's church. I did not promote it because there has been very little support for Chinnam's Mercy Orphanage, and I did not promise any support. There are only 2 forum members and 2 members of our church who give regularily, and a few from each who give from time to time. Others have answered this special appeal. I profoundly thank each one of you who gives. Any amount helps.
I had been paying Vijaya's travel expenses and sending a small offering. After he started Grace orphanage, I rolled that into a small monthy support. Because the children were going hungry, I upped his support to $250 per month. Most of you found about him because of a typhoon. I will give an update on what has come in for Vijaya in the last few days. I haven't sent it yet, also due to a hurricane. I live in New Orleans myself and evacuated to Texas.
God bless! David

One of our members who supports the orphanage makes a remedy for poison oak, and sells it online. It was made for loggers, who constantly are exposed. The website is www.mtmud.com This person didn't want to promote it here, which we all respect. But if you need some for your medicine cabinet, check it out. It sells in some health food stores as well, so if you frequent one, maybe they'll be interested. God bless, David

thes days you have to be very care full
if i was not focusing on sending support to my fiancee and what we are doing with the poor in the philippines i would be doing what i can to make sure chinnams orphange gets the support it needs
al i can do is pray for mercy orphange asking god to put the right people around chinnams mercy orphanage who wil be able to give i have seen god do this to were he has put rich buisness men around guys like chinnam
we have a church right now looking at comming behind us and i am jumping with joy i have been asked to talk to one of the managers to the churches bible collage as the church i am attending while living in australia and working abroad has a bible collage and often seek churches abroad seeing if they can help in any way or were the students can come and be appart of the church and do some out reach work i have been lifting our needs to the lord know for 8months i met with the assistance pastor today and it was very posative this church has welcomed me and has surrounded me

...isn't that frustrating when you lose a posting you worked hard on?
Thanks so much for re-responding David. That's a shame about the other orphanages being scams. But am glad that Chinnam's is on the up and up. (and up, what with three different un-anounced visits...that's good and should encourage others to give as well).
I watched on the news even tonight that 1.2 million people are displaced in India due to the flooding. That's alot of people with alot of needs. I pray they all have their needs met in Jesus name.
And I'm also thankful that your area isn't being as bombarded as previously predicted David. I know you all aren't entirely out of the alert zone yet...but so far things are looking much better than what they had originally thought. My husband went with his former church on an outreach to NO during Mardis Gras...he had an absolutely productive time there ministering to various people and even worked in the power of deliverance granted by God... later we moved to Pace(near Pensacola and lived there for a yr). We went to NO airport a couple times and drove around the city before Katrina, then when we saw it on the news just couldn't believe our eyes...so much devastation and the needs of the people being unmet just broke our hearts. I pray nobody has to endure such things but as these are the end times and our Lord predicted these signs would be happening...such things are unfortuanately inevitable.
God bless you,
Kim

I just heard that they'll let us home Thursday. Praise God! I will have to make plans now to return. God bless, David

QUOTE (chrio39 @ Aug 26 2008, 09:50 PM)

100x50 = Rs.5000 . ($119)
extra material = Rs.1000 ($24)
for the worker Rs.3500 ($83)
Of the $496 yet needed, so far $158 has come in. Praise God for his faithfulness. There may be some more at home at the post office. More is needed if we are to cover his typhoon related expenses. I plan on leaving later today for New Orleans. so I may be able to check. That still leaves a known need for $338. I am hoping and praying that the need will be met. God Bless, David

Praise God, one member that had already given stepped up to the plate and gave enough to send Vijaya the money he needed to bore one of the two wells deeper and repair the electricity as well. I don't know about repairing the roof or getting the blankets. I'll ask him. We sent the money today to him and also the monthly check to Chinnam's Mercy Orphanage.
Next week we'll send Vijaya's monthly support to him. If anyone wants to give towards the blankets & sheets I'll add it to the support.
Here's Vijaya's latest report to me (I edit his reports to make them more easily read):
PRAISE THE LORD
Greetings in the name of the mighty lord to you Brother David Johnson and Sister Cindy.
I am very sorry to hear from you that once again you are leaving new Orleans to escape from the 2nd attack of a very powerful typhoon. We are all praying for you including orphan children and our church members.
About Maju Now she is doing better. Due to boils on the head she was suffered a lot. After undergoing for nice treatment now she is slowly recovering.
Some of the orphan children are affected by viral fever. Due to water pollution many diseases have caused illness of children. Now we are struggling for borewell for water and power. At present by means of only a single bulb we are some how many during night.(?) Due to lack of power connection all the rooms are left in darkness. Children are suffering for fans in the night and fighting mosquitos and suffication. Children are struggling a lot, kindly pray for this.
Brother already you and your family members are in troubles due to typhoon. So I am not interested to bring the facts of our suffering. But I know both of your prayers are powerful I need your prayer support.
From to day i.e. 15.9.2008 onwards I have started 21 days full fasting prayers for Orissa issues. Needs of orphanage, people who are affected by typhoons, Lord has casted burden on my shoulders. Till 5th of October, 20 members of our pastors & church members keep full prayers for the above issues. If you have any prayer needs please let me know and we will keep pray for the issues.

my heart is heavy for our brothers and sisters.. and yet i know, that trials and tribulations will only lead to greater faith in our great God.. may all that HE is, be revealed to them thru their fellowship of suffering.. and may each one know His presence .. for just that will prove to be what sustains them thru all these adversities..
Father, please move your children to provide for the needs of this portion of your body. May our gifts be, in a small part, an example of the fellowshipping of the saints and sharing in the sufferings of our Saviour..

I do agree with your prayer. One member provided $270 to provide for the repairs, in 3 different offerings, to make sure that there was enough, especially for the well & power. Please pray that God pours out his blessing on this member. I have no doubt that God will.
I e-mailed Vijaya last night to give him the MTCN # to get the funds and asked him to tell me how much the roof repairs and pillows and blankets will cost. I also told him that the money was raised on the forum. He sent this reply:
Praise the Lord
Greetings in the name of our lord Jesus to you brother David Johnson and Sister Cindy.
I am very happy and grateful to you brother and sister Cindy for the $500 for bore well and electricity. Once again thanks for regular support of $250. Though you are all suffering in your local area with typhoons, it is really surprising that you are showing the love in actions.
My special thanks to all the members of our Christian forum. After execution of work the completion report and purchase bill of the materials ( bore well & Electricity wiring materials ) will be submitted to you later along with photographs.
Cost estimation of 30 blankets 150 = 4,500/- ($100)
30 Bed sheets 150 = 4,500/- ($100)
Total Rs. 9,000/- ($200)
Building Roof repair charges: Length 30 feet widths 40 feet Building measurements. So 1200 SFT ( 1200 Square feet plinth area)
As per the civil Engineer estimation including cement sand, chips labour charges cost per one square feet is Rs.200/- ($4.44)
Total cost for roof is 1200sft x Rs.200/- = Rs. 24,000/- ($533)
Lorry transport cost concrete miller, masion charges extra. May be works around Rs.5000/- ($111) Total Rs.29,000 ($644)
I have already started fasting prayers. Brother I am awaiting for your visit to India with sister cindy and your team. Please visit your orphanage Grace in India. We are all praying for you all.
Anxiously awaiting to hear from you soon.
Yours faithfully

I replied to Vijaya & asked him about just doing enough to the roof to stop the leaks. (although $644 is cheap to replaster 1200 square feet of roof) I'll keep you all informed. The $250 support won't be sent until sometime next week. Does anyone know of a church that would like to adopt this orphanage? God bless, David

Pastor : K.Vijaya Bhaskar-
I put dollar amounts in parenthesis. He had to borrow $266. I'm not sure why it cost that much more than originally estimated. If anyone wants to help with this, let me know so that what you give will be in addition to his regular monthly support.
