All our lives,...we have all heard this verse spoken by friends, and Pastors.
Would does this verse mean to you?
I am about to open a can of worms blush.gif ......It will be interesting to see where this leads too. But I believe we will all walk away much wiser.

It means no one will know... until the time of the end. This is that time!

"And he said, Go thy way, Daniel: for the words [are] closed up and sealed till the time of the end. Many shall be purified, and made white, and tried; but the wicked shall do wickedly: and none of the wicked shall understand; but the wise shall understand." -Daniel 12:9-10

No one knows that day or hour.

Another, Second Coming statement causing confusion and deception in the household of God is, “No one knows about that day or hour.” Jesus made this statement about the exact time of His return during the Olivet Discourse. This expression has been incorrectly interpreted by many, thinking that it means we will be unable to determine the general time of the Second Coming. The statement is clear and precise. It says, “No one knows about that day or hour.” It does not say, no one knows the general time of the Coming. As a matter of fact Scripture does indicate that we will be aware of His Coming and we will not be surprised, “as you see the Day approaching” (Hebrews 10:25). Paul also said, “But you, brothers, are not in darkness so that this day should surprise you like a thief” (1 Thessalonians 5:4).

Repeatedly, Jesus told of the increasing deception that will come in the last days. He commanded us to watch and stay alert so we would not be deceived by the world and get caught off guard. This is what He said during the Olivet Discourse.

No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark; and they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away. That is how it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. Two men will be in the field; one will be taken and the other left. Two women will be grinding with a hand mill; one will be taken and the other left.

"Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come. But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into. So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.

"Who then is the faithful and wise servant, whom the master has put in charge of the servants in his household to give them their food at the proper time? It will be good for that servant whose master finds him doing so when he returns. I tell you the truth, he will put him in charge of all his possessions. But suppose that servant is wicked and says to himself, 'My master is staying away a long time,' and he then begins to beat his fellow servants and to eat and drink with drunkards. The master of that servant will come on a day when he does not expect him and at an hour he is not aware of. He will cut him to pieces and assign him a place with the hypocrites, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth (Matthew 24:36-51).

Notice in this passage how Jesus contrasted the believer, Noah with the unbelievers the “people,” “they” and “them.” Noah knew when that day was coming, God actually told him when to get in the ark. However, the world was caught completely by surprise even thought Noah preached to them, 2 Peter 2:5.

Here is what He said,

No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. Be on guard! Be alert! You do not know when that time will come. It's like a man going away: He leaves his house and puts his servants in charge, each with his assigned task, and tells the one at the door to keep watch. Therefore keep watch because you do not know when the owner of the house will come back--whether in the evening, or at midnight, or when the rooster crows, or at dawn. If he comes suddenly, do not let him find you sleeping. What I say to you, I say to everyone: 'Watch!' (Mark 13:32-37)

If we examine these passages carefully, it is apparent that Jesus is warning us to stay alert and “Watch!” as we see the Day of the Lord approaching. However, we will not know “the day or the hour.”

Therefore keep watch, because you do not know the day or the hour (Matthew 25:13).

What you say is true, but there is more here than meets the eyes of american perception. In order to truely understand what is being conveyed here by the Lord Jesus.....One must understand that Jesus was a Jew.
And wspoke things to the jews that He knew that they could relate too, based on thier cultural upbringing.Jewish tradition had it that the jews knew about the season,...that they knew about the time, but that they could not tell you the day or hour without a sign from heaven.
Traditionally every year, two wittnesse would observe the New moon-Concealed moon....is the time of concealment!...The Lord will keep His appointed time!(.Psalms 81;3)..Rosh Hashanna has a 48 hr window...you do not know what hour or what day!..Rosh Hashanna is the feast of trumpets!...Rosh Hashanna is the only feast that is centered around a new moon...(A new moon is concealed!)The word Rosh Hashanna means Time of Concealment or Hiding!,and only when two wittnesses see the edge of the moon do they understand that it is time now for the feast to celebrate and the month starts. Then the two wittnesses would come before the Sanhedrin in Jerusalem and announce it.Rosh Hashanna was a two day period. It had a two day or 48 hr.period of window to determine when it started. That is why no man knew the day or the hour. They knew about the time. They knew about the season, but they could not tell you exactly until there was a sign in the heaven.

Isa 55:11 So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper [in the thing] whereto I sent it.

The following will not return unto Him void.

Matthew 24;33 So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, at the doors!

Comment:The signs in the heavens, political events, things foretold by the prophets that would develope, would signal to the Bride, when the Bridegroom had His hand on the door!

Revelation 4;1...."John said,I saw a door in heaven open.and I was caught up!

Comment:This is the coming of Christ for His Bride!

Matthew 25;10....And while they went to buy, the Bridegroom came;and they that were ready went in with Him to the marriage;and the door was shut

Comment:The rapture happened, the door was shut afterward.

Zephaniah 2;1-2Gather yourselves together, yea, gather together,O'nation not desired; Before the decree bring forth, before the day pass as a chaff, before the day of the Lord's anger come upon you,it may be ye shall be hid in the day of the Lord's anger.

Comment:This gathering together is the rapture...the nation not desired....is the Bride, that the world hates...The bride is caught up. and hidden while the world endures the Lord's anger! This gathering together is in line with 2 Thessalonians 2;1..."Now we beseech you brethren,by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto Him.

Psalms 81;3..."Blow up the trumpet in the new moon, in the time appointed, on our solemn feast day.

Isaiah 26;20..."Come my people, enter thou into thy chambers, and shut thy doors about thee;hide thyself as it were for a little moment, until the indignation be overpast.

Comment:The Bridegroom has prepared many mansions that has many doors...The Bride was caught up,and hidden during the tribulation period.

Also Benny, to add to your Rosh Hashana post:
Rosh Hashana is also called the Feast of Trumpets;
Yom Teruah-Day of the Awakening Blast;
Kiddushin/Nesu'in-The Wedding Ceremony;
and The Last Trump-The Last Shofar, as well as others.

*There's 3 main trumpets during certain feasts-1st trumpet (pentecost), last trumpet (feast of trumpets), great trumpet (day of atonement) Prophetically speaking I believe this is what those trumpets mean:
---At pentecost there was a "sound from heaven" (Acts 2"2): the first trump
---the last trump will sound at the Rapture (1 Cor 15:52) WOO HOO!!!
---the great trumpet will sound at the Second Coming (Is 27:13, Mt 24:31)

*on Rosh Hashana the gate of heaven is open for the neu'in or the home taking!

* Hoshanah means "Lord save us now" (Ps 118)

smile.gif You are awesome Benny! Your gift of wisdom and discernment is a blessing to many. Keep up the good work. God bless and keep you!

to be in the field and grinding at the mill, signifies the time of the harvest, the end time harvest.

Today peoples from all nations are now celebrating Tabernacles, (feast of Ingathering)...

the celebration of tabernacles is prophecied by Zachariah is for all nations.

Tabernacles represents the time of the gentiles, when Jesus shared the cup at Passover, Jesus and the apostles fulfilled te time of the Jews. Mark 1:15. The time of the gentiles began when they handed Jesus to the Romans (gentiles).

The fall feasts refers to the fulfillment of the time of the nations (gentiles)... New moons, Sabbaths and Holy days are foreshadows of things to come.

Mmarc,

You speak truth. We worry about today and not about what is going to happen tomorrow. We were told in the Bible that nobody knows the day or hour, why waste brain space trying to figure out something we're not supposed to know anyway? may the lord bless you.

Benny,

Presently, we do not know the day or hour. However, we (prebies and posties) know that the tribulation is seven years in duration. It is simple math; the minute the tribulation begins, seven years later is the advent of Christ. The difference is that prebies think that the pre-trib rapture is the event that starts the tribulation period and posties know that it is the confirmation of a covenant. So, for those that faithfully watch and recognize the tribulation's start, these faithful watchers will know the day of Christ's return in advance.

In Yehoshua,

John Prewett
2He replied,[a] "When evening comes, you say, 'It will be fair weather, for the sky is red,'
3and in the morning, 'Today it will be stormy, for the sky is red and overcast.'
You know how to interpret the appearance of the sky,
but you cannot interpret the signs of the times.

The dragon gave the beast his power and his throne and great authority.
3One of the heads of the beast seemed to have had a fatal wound,
but the fatal wound had been healed.
The whole world was astonished and followed the beast.
4Men worshiped the dragon because he had given authority to the beast,
and they also worshiped the beast and asked,
"Who is like the beast? Who can make war against him?"
5The beast was given a mouth to utter proud words and blasphemies
and to exercise his authority for forty-two months.

"42 months"
Stephen
No one knows the start date of the Lord's coming intervention

This is because He has not reveal it and will not

The time frame of the end of this present age will begin with no warning or signs

All of the signs and events recorded in the prophetic visions are scheduled for the time of the end .... not before

There are necessary stage settings that must precede the beginning of His advent

The focus will be on Israel and the Middle East and this geographical area must be staged

The Lord has intentionally set His end time events apart from the past and today

There is a breach in earth time that is not covered in the prophetic scriptures

No one can know how long the Lord will tarry before He brings His judgment and following millennial kingdom

The believer must be ready and waiting ..... not knowing when the Lord will call the Body of Christ home

All related scripture tells that this event will occur just before He shakes the earth with His judgment process

Many have attempted, and many do predict and speculate, but ..................

"At a time that you think not" .... the Son of Man will come as a thief with no warning

No one knows the start date of the Lord's coming intervention

JP-No man knows the exact day of the "coming intervention". Amen.

This is because He has not reveal it and will not
The time frame of the end of this present age will begin with no warning or signs

JP-Warnings and signs abound. Seen by millions.

All of the signs and events recorded in the prophetic visions are scheduled for the time of the end .... not before
There are necessary stage settings that must precede the beginning of His advent
The focus will be on Israel and the Middle East and this geographical area must be staged

JP-The existence of Israel is an end time "sign."

JP-The believer [in Jesus's Revelation] is [certainly should be]
ready and waiting for the world amazing day
when the world beholds the final "beast" [Rev 13-10]
who will rule the world for 42 months and lead the final tribulation.

JP-Those waiting/expecting to be whisked away in advance of the reign of the "beast"
will be confused and have only themselves to blame
for heeding decievers instead of studying and heeding Jesus's Revelation.

All related scripture tells that this event will occur just before He shakes the earth with His judgment process
Many have attempted, and many do predict and speculate, but ..................
"At a time that you think not" .... the Son of Man will come as a thief with no warning

JP-We don't know the day and hour of these key events, but

Warnings abound

Psa 81:3 Blow up the trumpet in the new moon, in the time appointed, on our solemn feast day.

If you study scriptures in a gentile perspective(which is obvious that many of you here are doing).........you will only perceive some of the prophetic picture and not all of it.

Our Lord Jesus was a jew,....Who spoke things to the jews that He knew that they would understand. The Lord spoke things based on ancient jewish traditions,...things based on thier culture.
Such as the ancient jewish wedding........Have you ever stopped long enough to question why the Lord calls himself the Bridegroom and His church the Bride???............The Lord had the ancient jewish wedding in mind.

Yes!!!,...it is true that no man knows the day or the hour!
biggrin.gif But the Lord will keep His appointed time!
Just as He came in the spring feasts the first time,...so shall He come in the Fall feasts.
He will come on Rosh hashanna!
This event is 48 hours long, but was considered as one long day to the jews.
They knew about the time.
They knew about the season.
But they could not tell you the day or the hour!,....only the Father knew!
This is why they would have two wittnesses who would watch this hidden moon for the first sliver of light.
When they saw it, they would report it to the sanhedrin in the temple, and this would mark the first day of the month of the knew year.

We do not know which year during each Rosh Hashanna that the Lord will come for His Bride,....But we have sign posts along the way....one's that will give strong signals that He is extremely near!

As many of you know,....national Israel has not yet recognized Our Lord Jesus as their Messiah, and is propheticly foretold that national Israel will except another who will come in his own name(THE ANTI-CHRIST).
The Sanhedrin in Israel today, believe that their long awaited messiah will appear unto them this coming passover.

Added to this mix,...It seems that Iran is halfway to having a nuclear bomb,
and we know that Israel must attack Iran very soon, which would result in Isaiah 17;1

I personally believe that the Lord would not have Damascus destroyed, not until lot and his family were taken out of harms way,(If you catch my drift)

So if my discernment is correct,......when all the christians has disappeared,....all the christians will no longer be in our government who speak up in Israel's behalf in the United Nations.
Israel will find herself alone, and will have no choice but to attack Iran.
From what I can see,....we are running out of time quickly.
It seems that Russia is clearing a path to make a mad dash to the south.
This happened when Russia invaded Georgia.

There are strong indicators that the rapture may happen this Rosh Hashanna.
If it does not happen this year, then it is because the Lord is still setting up His chess pieces, and we would have another year to go.

There are those who scream,...no one knows the day or the hour, again which is a true statement.
But you must contend with,....That Day shall not come upon us as a thief!

When the Lord Died on the Cross of Calvary,...He kept His appointed time!
When the Lord returns for His Bride,...He will keep his appointed time!

The Big question is.....IS THIS THE YEAR???

We shall soon find out biggrin.gif ......I have already eaten my T bone steak just in case...................................benny cool.gifP.S...I would like to add the following scripture,...."He will cause to come down for you the rain, the former rain, and the latter rain in the first month" (Joel 2:23b). The first month is the Feast of Trumpets, the next unfulfilled feast of Israel. It is also a Jewish type for the coming Rapture of Christ's Bride.

QUOTE (NIGHTMARE @ Sep 22 2008, 02:28 PM) *
Well when the 2 olive trees rise from the streets and ascend to heaven,,,,,,,within that same hour........

These two wittnesses begin thier Ministry in the first half......when one reads the following.....the evidence revealing that the two wittnesses are in the first half is "OVERWHELMING!!!"................In the following ...there is a lot of logic........In the following, picture this scenerio....."When the Abomination of Desolation comes to pass,a countdown begins of 1,260 days that brings us to the end of Daniels 70th week.....at the end of the Great Tribulation......The Lord Jesus Christ, the angels, and the Bride will be descending towards the earth.......While this event is taking place, the battle of Armageddon is in full swing.....war and chaos is prevalent. With this in mind, picture the following and compare........Some would have you believe that the two wittnesses begin their wittnessing the day the A.O.D. begins and that 1,260 days later these two wittnesses are slain by the ac....which is true, but it does not happen at the end of the second half of the tribulation......Now after these two are slain....the whole world is celebrating and giving gifts to each other as though it were christmas....now keep in mind that as the Lord is decending to the earth, the eastern forces and western forces are in an all out battle and they are freaking out because they see the Creator of the universe making a grand entrance.....It is hard to picture the world giving gifts to each other under those conditions....it does not make sense!...now also, 3 1/2 days latter these two wittnesses come back to life! And they ascend towards heaven....keep in mind that the Lord is placing His feet on the Mount of Olives....Now when the A.O.D. begins, the Jews are fleeing for their lives....The two wittnesses are wittnessing in order to bring people to the Lord!...But the Jews are nowhere around because they fled to the wilderness! once again ....placing the ministry of these two wittnesses in the second half does not make sense at all! Once again take notice the following;...The two wittnesses are slain at the end of their 1,260 days of ministry and three and a half days latter these two ascend towards heaven in the sight of all the world...and they are intensely watching.....When the lord descends towards earth, I assure you that thier eyes are on Jesus and they are trembling..... These two wittnesses ascend when they hear the very same VOICE say the Words..."COME UP HERE!....That is stated when the rapture happens just before the tribulation begins...also...considering that the lord is on the earth,..He cannot say COME UP HERE, to the two wittnesses in the second half. Also the third "WOE had not yet happened!.....In other words....evidence strongly reveals that these two wittnesses begin their wittnessing in the first half of the 7 year tribulation. Another thing to consider is the scripture stating:revelation 13;7 "It was granted to him to make war with the saints and to overcome them. And authority was given him over every tribe, tongue, and nation"......These two wittnesses are "SAINTS"....And while these two are wittnessing for 1,260 days, the ac is helpless in doing anything to harm them....This authority is not given to the ac until thier testimony is finished....Sorta like Paul, and Stephen, they were not killed until their testimony was finished........There is a big time connect between the Antichrist making "war" agains the two witnesses in Revelation 11. And the statement in Revelation 13 about who can make war against the beast? The 42 month reign of the Antichrist comes after he has defeated the two witnesses right at the exact
midpoint... but before they have risen, 3 days later....otherwise that commentary from the world's people won't mean so much.
