Are you ready to take your stand? I tell you that you are chosen to live in this time and season for a purpose. You have the backbone and integrity to stand firm in the attacks that will surely come. What an interesting time we find ourselves in. God has been very active in the lives of the saints - a difficult time for many. There is a whole lot of shaking going on. Those who once stood strong are buckling at the knees. Some maintain a facade of having it all together, but it will soon become apparent that they don’t.
I believe this is the final preparation before revival and God is going deep to remove impurities of every kind. I think this is an ongoing process of course, but it seems to be a lot more intense lately. Nevertheless, this is not the main thing that is happening. The Lord is returning us to our first Love. He wants us asking for His direction… to be totally dependent upon Him. He is again teaching us to walk in the Spirit. Have you noticed?
Anyway, I can speak from my own experience. When pumped and vibrant and on fire and vigilant to wage war, I’m ready to take back my city and region from the enemy. I regularly exhort others to do the same. It is at times like this that I can see the failings of the church, our prayerlessness and complacency and entanglement in worldly ways… the quagmire we find ourselves in is surely of our own making. I then boldly say, “Repent! Wake up! Serve the Lord with all of your heart!” If you’ve read the Weekly Journal before you have heard me say this many times. I’ve even offended people with this frankness.
However, the Lord has been showing me something lately… in my own weakness and brokenness, something that would be good for everyone to remember. The church is comprised of the weak and foolish. “There are not many wise according to the flesh…” Paul said. I mean most of the people in the church, myself included, came to Christ after repeated failure. Think about it; many saints have been, or now are addicted to something… material goods, alcohol / drugs, sex, gambling, entertainment, sports, etc. You name it! Many are discouraged or have emotional or physical problems. Many are in marital or financial crisis. It is truly amazing that the Church has actually lasted for two thousand years! The simple fact that we exist in the midst of personal frailty and demonic attack brings glory to God!
Do you know what I mean? The next time you get frustrated because the Church is not doing what it should: advancing the kingdom, saving the lost, healing the sick, feeding the poor, etc. just remember who is sitting in the pews… a lot of sick and weak and wounded people. Not an excuse, simply a fact!
The next time you get the bright idea that the church would be revived if only we would get it all together and have unity, or do evangelism or any such thing please know that we have not been able to do this throughout all of Church history apart from a sovereign move of God. (We call it Revival.) And this comes as a result of Holy Spirit led prayers of desperation. You can exhort people as much as you want but unless that exhortation is flowing directly from the throne of God it will have little effect. Self effort always leads to failure and frustration… and then you burn out.
Dear brothers and sisters, please learn to be led by God’s Spirit. Don’t waste a lot of time and energy doing what seems good. It is the Lord who leads us to victory by His Spirit. And make no mistake about it; we do have the victory. But if you haven’t figured it out yet this victory will not be by your valiant effort.
Right now, all over the world the adversary seems to be prevailing even when Spirit-led effort is applied. Perhaps you yourself feel overtaken by the enemy. Be encouraged! A judgment is being made in your favor and the Kingdom will soon be given into our hands (Dan. 7:22). All Glory to Jesus for what HE has done!
