I did not take this photo (its from the Web) but this dude's brother were raiding my veggie garden last night. He discovered my beetroot and I will know which one it is, by the his red smile........there is no hiding !
They come out at night and love to dig for roots. He has been here a few times and does not really destroy much, He just takes one or two , or digs up some spinach roots. They are rather dangerous , because if they feel threatened, they shoot you with those nasty spikes. Many dogs here in SA have been killed by them.

photo is from this guy, he is very good and there are some lovely shots here of animals. smile.gif

it looks weird lol. ive never seen a porkipine, although we dont have them here in aus, so i guess that explains why lol. we have echidnas and they are sooo cute...i call them walking cactuses lol

To prove my point, this is a pit-bull terrier, that had a run-in with a porcupine .UGH

I would think one or two quills would do the trick, but no, he went and used the whole arsenal !!!

Which is worse...a porcupine or getting sprayed by a skunk? smile.gif They are both lovely animals the good LORD gave defenses to.

Thank goodness GOD didn't make a Skunk Porcupine....stink and pain...no one would help because they couldn't stand the odor.

We had a dog, once that battled with a porcupine. The porcupine won, and we paid lots of money to a vet, to remove all the pricks from his poor face. He learned his lesson with porcupines, but not so much, with the local skunk. Boy did he smell bad! Even years afterwards, when ever it rained, we could smell skunk on him. We were constantly getting him out of trouble. Yes, his name was, Trouble! LOL!

He even battled cuckle burrs, which were a little safer to deal with than the porcupine. We had to take a pair of scissors to him. He needed a hair cut anyway. He was a mutt, but looked very much like an English Sheep dog.

Thanks for the smiles!

lol poor pit bull i had to look twice to see if it was weed that he got into but as i looked close i could see the after affect well i hope this pit bull learned its lesson i doubt he would knowing pit bulls and how dosile they are they some how stick their noses into things they should not be

hear we have kangaroos that can kill humans and dogs my old dog learnt the hard way when i would take him for a walks in the forest he would go off and i knew he got into trouble he was lucky as i think he heard me whistle and i new he tangled with a kangaroo

in tasmania were pinky lives i think she would have ran into the odd tasmanian devil i am not good at putting pics on this forum as you are c but if you do a google and type tasmanian devil you will see what i am talking about thesd dudes have razor sharp strong teeth i saw some at the zoo in canberra i was tempted to put my hand in the pen and pat one though my first wife slapped me across the head and screamed at me saying if i had done that i would have lost my hand

i have seen the porcupine on the nat geographical channel i feel sorry for you c is there anything that can get rid of them like may be electric fence we have them in australia when we want to keep the cows in a sertain section and you can set the shock waves to how strong you want the electric fence to be

my old man had problems with wild rabbits he had dug an acre block and grew a fair bit of vegtables he lived on what he grew and sold the other vegtables plus he gave a lot away to his neighbours the rabbits would come for the karots c they got him that mad he came up with a way were they could no longer get into his karots he built a big box and grew the carots in the box but then the rabbits got stuck into the lettus and cabage so he got the shot gun out and sat in the cubby house he built for my step brother you would know when dad was in the cubby house i would whistle and he would whistle back to me

were can i get one i have two little dongs i want to teach a lesson to they go through my bin sniffing for food and spend half an hour sniffing the floor when they are in my kit home i reckon when they see this due they wil get the message but i love thes little dogs to death

thanks c i was wondering were you were have not seen you for a while on thes boards

God bless from damo
