I keep hearing that Congress has passed a law that will make it illegal for companies to sell anything but digital televisions. I initially found this unusual in that why would congress get involved with something as simple a digital TV. I mean, if the market wants analog TV, then what difference does it make to Congress. I didn’t give it much thought, but after pondering it for a while I came up with a possible reason for the new law. As I understand it, computer can’t read analog.
The only way the powers to be can monitor the media effectively is by computers. So the government needs to have the media digitalized.
